  • Mr porsche- I knew that. I always get it mixed up with when I saw them. I stand corrected.

  • rock and roll will never get any better than this. saw them in 74 before the crash.

    the very best. thanks.

  • @MrElizabeth79 Crash happend in 77 man

  • I CAN LISTEN TO THIS SONG EVERY DAY FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE!!!!!!

  • How eerie is it that the group poses in front of the plane that crashed with "Comin' Home" playing?

  • a class alone forever known never grown to the point of no return. let the music ring so we can sing us back from time to time. who today could play free bird as rossington and collins did? who can light up a stage in his bare feet like ronnie? in all my seventies memories of friends and family many now gone, they as well as lynyrd skynyrd are as close as a song and a recollection. enjoy the music

  • i love lynyrd skynyrd big time

  • 8 people are fucking retarded obama voters.

  • @plainbob13 : Who the fuck is Obama bin Barrack guy?

  • When I listen to music I try and block out the lyrics, I just listen to the guitar, bass, drums, and piano. But Ronnie had some of the greatst lyrics, he was way ahead of his time. One of the greatest singers of all time, so underated. It is unreal to think of all the good songs they wrote in 4 years, and to have their their careers end at their peak, is in my opnion, the sadest thing on Gods green earth. Fly on Freebirds you are free at last

  • under the rader sister hillary what you waiting for star of david 7 tribes sister 6 white hores i laugh

  • THE WHO DROPPED THEM FROM THERE TOUR.....THEY WERE BLOWING THE WHO OFF THE STAGE....

  • @TheDuckorr In the words of Pete Townshend , " These Lynyrd gentlemen can sure play guitar quite better than most........very impressive to see."

  • I HAVE THE STREET SURVIVORS ALBUM WITH THE FIRE ON THE COVER THAT MCA DROPPED...HARD TO LOOK AT.......

  • SAW THE ORIGINAL BAND TWICE THE FIRST TIME IN THE BOSTON GARDEN AS A BACK UP BAND TO TEN YEARS AFTER...THE BOYS BLEW ALVIN LEE AND COMPANY OFF THE FUCKING STAGE.....THE SECOND TIME WAS A GREAT SHOW SKYNYRD...OUTLAWS.....INCREDIBLE...

  • Sweet Lovin Skynyrd ......miss em ~~ <3 <3

  • so good :))

  • ♫❤♫❤♫❤♫ Ronnie Van Zant ♫❤♫❤♫❤♫

  • @holdenfarmer I have to say that I agree 100% - I just can't relate when they run around the stage thinking they're the real Skynyrd ! The only one I liked was Billy Powell and now he's gone . R.I.P.

  • @holdenfarmer So you were there in Greenville South Carolina, at War Memorial Stadium...This crap today isn't Skynyrd..Ronnie Van Zant is/was and will always be Skynyrd..They need to put this crap to bed..

  • @SteveGaines I Agree 100%

  • @holdenfarmer You saw them on Wednesday Night...The plane crashed on a Thursday..Great you go to see the original band in it's prime..That's was the band with Steve Gaines on guitar...The "STREET SURVIVOR" tour...would have been great..

  • @holdenfarmer YESSSSSSS!!! Thank you...Those guys are clowns...That guy who sings is said to be his half brother from when RVZ's dad messed around

  • Comment removed

  • who in the fuck can listen to any skynyrd and dislike it? i want to fight all 8 of you retarded sons of bitches

  • theres only one skynyrd and they went down with the plane!!!!! steve and the boys are nothing more than a cover band

  • @jhatt25 Who is Steve?..Ronnie Van is/was and will always be Skynyrd...When he died they all died in one way or the other..Just look at their track records..Without RVZ they were lost...

  • @SteveGaines hell yes!!!!!! it pisses me off that they can keep the band name when the band is no longer around!!!! even if it is Ronnies brother!!!

  • wasnt born until 82 , those lucky enough to have lived through the 60&70s so , so lucky ! ! !

  • "Gold and Platnium" is a real record

  • 8 Track player, Marlboro's, real beer (and "smoke"), and a girl from the woods. Remember that?

  • @Mochito88 Don't forget about the "Keg"

  • Possibly the greatest skynyrd song?

  • this is my favorite, too bad it didn't make it on a real record

  • This incredible song just rips my heart out and reduces me to tears everytime I hear it. Truely such a beautiful and very dear heartfelt melody ! Just knowing the history and trajedy deeply affects me , but us southern bells are so sensitive anyway ! Love you Skynyrd !

  • there never has and will be a person that was as smart,he was a genoous.it would to be in a Class by hisself

  • A concrete jungle surrounded me , Many nights I slept out in the streets. I miss old friends that I once had , Times aint changed and I'll be glad when I go Home !

  • Southern redneck or Yankee redneck, everyone wants to come home,

  • Good highway song with a motorcycle!

  • if this tune cant jerk at you i dont know what can i worked away from home for years and i would drive 6--8 hrs straight to this song made my trip so much shorter thinking of my wife and boys af home-- but it did cost me a few speedind tix haha

  • Everytime I hear this song I hear crackles from the album.....spent time overseas for my beloved Corps and always played this on my way HOME. North or South...doesnt matter...Lynyrd Skynyrd always touched a cord with people. me.

  • There are so many solo artists; you don't see many bands at all these days, and the ones you do see have fewer members. It's all part of the psycological shift towards selfishness and individualism; same reason so many kids these days have messed up "unique" names. Wish I grew up in the 70s.

  • OOOOOOH I LOOOOOOOOVE THIS.... COWBOY LIFE PEOPLE...

  • nothing but love!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • There's that god damned plane they died on.

  • this is the song i will play for my son when he gets home from dployment oversea's! I want to say thank you to Freebird for dedicating this song to my son when they played at P.I.R. Long live Lynrd Skynyrd

  • Long live the beautiful country.

  • where did bands like this go.they all make fun of me cause this is what i like . i can remember out hitch the roads of this great country.sitting under a over pas some where and listening to this and other great bands .now all i can hear are the ones that make u bang your head on the wall

  • aww how sweet!

  • hell yeah lil jack. all i can do is close my eyes and take another toke and sit back and wish i still had my guitar playin me some skynard

  • 8 people are not from AMERICA!!!

  • my favorite band of all time, every song written by them from 1969 to 1977 is timeless, the only problem is i wish i was around when they were released and the original band was touring, i would have been a hard core roadie, peace to ya'll thanks for the wonderful music you brought us guys, never forget and will play on my speakers till i die

  • Ronnie Van Zant the best story teller in the music business,

all his songs are stories, you can feel the story come to life in every song.

  • this song gives me goosebumps and tears

  • Those of us who grew up in the 70's are so lucky.

  • @kas1283 Absolutely. The 70's was when music ruled over video.

  • @kas1283 i was born in 89 and i rocked out to Skynyrd everyday!

  • @kas1283 wish i lived back then

  • @kas1283 it makes me evious being young, I wish i grew up in the 50's/60's, things like music were so much more pure, sad to say that ole fasioned is dead :(

  • @kas1283 I know its been months since you commented, but I had to say this. My son is now 17 and plays guitars...just like me. He loves Skynyrd. It was his first live show in 2005. He comments ALL the time how lucky we were to grow up in the 70's and 80's and what a more simple time it was then. God Bless all of you out there that keep the Free Bird flying and the dream alive......The 1% band.

  • @kas1283 HELL YEAH WE ARE:)

  • @kas1283 Amen

  • @kas1283

Yes we were, you had to be there.

On the other hand, God bless the one who still gets it.

  • You put this WAY under rated song into heavy rotation today and hear the people ask: "Where has this BEEN'? It's more 'country' today than country! That voice......just shred's you.

  • @1961slam i snuck this song in on a freeplay friday at the radio station i work at and the phones lit up asking me who it was and where they could find it. I was shocked at the number of people that had no clue.

  • When I look at these guys I see me and my friends, God there must be millions of us good ol Americans

  • An awesome song....they had so so sooo many wonderful unreleased songs when that bloody plane went down... (I hate the photo showing them smiling in front of it)

  • fu*^$n love it

  • I grew up with this music, loved it then and still love it now. RIP all who we lost that sad day. We will never forget you and the impact you left all of us.

  • my son jack loves this song, dances to it. he's 16 months old. like father like son i guess.

  • @MrStretchdog It has a peaceful effect...Deep meaningful...Real music

  • amen to glaxko2

  • All it take is a few beers with the old man, and some Skynyrd for you to realize just how great your life is.

  • @buubacous....raising one to Jack as we speak!

  • @jdfsaints Great idea , let's all raise one for Jack ! That is very thoughtful ! I wish more people had this kind of thinking !

  • First and foremost, I would like to say that i think skynyrd is one of the greatest bands of all time. I listen to mostly death metal, but skynyrd's lyrics and sounds are so warm and meaningful, that you cant help but cry listening to most of their songs. Simplistic beauty makes skynyrd so special. My opinions of most bands change, but I can say I will love skynyrd until the day I die, even though Im a Pennsylvania yankee!

  • My best friend and I used to play this song over and over again. It's got a great hook to it. We stayed best friends for over 30 years. I lost him to cancer in 09 and I miss him dearly ! The tears start to roll when I hear "I miss old friends that I once had , times ain't changed and I'll be glad when I go home:........ R.I.P Jack

  • Oh man,I'll go back in a second!

  • An awsome song.. Really good. I have been following this band since 1973 and I still enjoy them.

And saying that Ronnie was a racist; one of the stupid comments on You tube.

I totally agreee with josh 1988ist.

This is one of the best southern bands ever, and of course the Allman Brothers Band.

Greetings from the cold and snowy Norway.

  • Looks like 5 dislikes aren't Coming Home !!!

  • who's the asshole and does'nt like it?

  • @stonelake1 probably a "lady gaga fan"! so AWESOME that these guys really DID sing & play music without having their voices autotuned....just reminds me why today's "music" SUCKS.

  • Ronnie wasn't racist at all. The whole reason he was mad about the Neil Young thing was because Young was saying that all people in the south were racist and Ronnie took offense to that because he wasn't racist. Ronnie also said publically he didn't like George Wallace because Wallace was for segregation.

"In Birmingham that love the govenor BOO BOO BOO!"- Ronnie Van Zant

People need to get there facts straight befor they start saying someone is a racist.. esspecially a dead man.

  • if u dont like it get the fuck out puerto rico bitch

  • Ronnie was not a racist.....!!!! He was a genuine, loving, giving, compassionate, and excellent song writer... never have i seen a man come up with such beautiful lyrics... what a great man!!!!!

  • NONE better than Lynyrd Skynyrd. For sure. Listen to that piano! Damnnnn

  • @bamastacey This is one of my favorites by skynard. I always loved that awesome piano and guitar playing. They were musical geniuses

  • lame how you cant find a legit live version of this.

  • ima trucker and i rock the shit out of this song all the time... great song

  • GREAT MUSIC HAS NO RACE. THERE YOU GO, SHORT AND SWEET

  • marvelous song...great lyrics....RIP

  • The best American rock band.

  • the best sothern rock band been listen 2 them for twenty years they still jam

  • The Eagles, Kansas, Areosmith, Boston, The Doors, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Van Halen, KISS, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, The Cars, The Beach Boys, Grand Funk Railroad, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Crosby Stills and Nash, The Allman Brothers Band, Journey, The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Alice Cooper, The Jimi Hendrix Experience,Styx,ZZTop,The Stooges,The New York Dolls,The Ramones,Red Hot Chili Peppers,Kings of Leon,Metallica, Bon Jovi,Pearl Jam,Guns N Roses,Nirvana

  • @nardo363636 EPIC list FTW!!!

  • @nardo363636 you didn't mention a band that needs total mention in your group of great bands And That Is Rush. They are awesome!

  • Yeah I didnt because RUSH is Canadian and the list was of the best American Rock Bands....

  • I agree they are most likley the best, atleast top 5 but those other bands need mention.

  • Redneck Beatles more properly!

  • Hillbilly Beatles.

There's a lot good about the South.

I like to quote Ronnie Van Zant:

"You can take a boy out of Dixie land but you can never take ol' Dixie from the boy!"

  • Finding artist these days that put this kind of feeling into their music is hard. Today its more about what you look like. I thought Jamey Johnson was going to be the next one? Not so sure anymore

  • Rock he F on!

  • it reminds me of my home country, Vietnam

  • dont know who were those 5 idiots that flaged down......

anyway, just like to say... since the plane clashed, that took some of the incredible musicians along......n till todate, I still couldn't find one southern sound, that even at the least sound like the Almighty SKYNYRD!...

    skynyrdfanatic!

  • all hail the Kings!

  • all hail the Kings

  • The day skynard crashed, is the day music died.

  • Music was so good back then because it wasn't about the visual image. Have a feeling it's ready to cycle back to that thanks to the internet and it's ability to make music so available. MTV and the high production, big image aspect of it ruined music for a long time. I think ( I hope) we're headed for an upswing.

  • straight up kick ass

  • COMIN HOME TO YOUR SWEET LOVE~GOD BLESS YOU~WE LOVE YOU1!!!

  • Ronnie Van Zant was a major influence on getting Molly Hatchet started. Southern Rock was kick ass back then !

  • First and Last ! What a memorable album !!!!!! " I miss old friends that I once had , times ain't changed , but I'll be glad when I go home !!!"

  • One of the best Bands of all time. It's tragic there plane ran out of fuel and crashed killing Ronnie, Steve and Cassie Gaines. RIP!

  • makes me wanna walk in the rain with my first love again....30 yrs ago

  • Don't know why 'MCA' waited til "the best of" was out to release this song , it was a damn good ballad. It was one of their first.

  • There are very few individuals who "opened up" for the Who... Ronnie was one of them... life's too short to be in such a "narrow" state of mind. I'm sure that Ronnie would agree. He left a huge "gap" to fill... and few will...

  • Ronnie even said himself he was not a racist he was just an old country boy

  • i seen em in 87 in atlanta ....wish i could been there in '77 .... i play this song on guitar always gets me in the mood !

  • Unforgettable Masterpiece from the deep Heart of the Soul...Ronnie,you've reached your Home up there in the Starry, wonderful Sky,mate!!!!!
