I am not a professional, but, I recently saw Carmen Vincelj in an exhibition...and I must say that in my opinion Karina looks and dances better overall, technically and artistically. Karina should be #1 in the world. If someone could please enlighten me on what the judges look for to rank the dancer. I would appreciate it!

Hi Sandy,

Any judge will list the following: footwork, timing, line, floorcraft, rhythm, etc. but at this level all are doing these things pretty well. You have to concentrate on how the couple looks together. Watch for choreography with too many tricks. Are they dancing well enough through their basics to maintain the true character of the dance. Believe it or not, choice of costume and hair style can also help or hinder.

This is just my opinion, but I believe there are at least 4 top female dancers who are superior to Carmen - Yulia, Joanna, Karina, Beata. I believe Carmen is ranked where she is purely due to Bryan Watson, who is superb. To me, Carmen is certainly competent, but there's simply nothing special about her dancing. I never watch a performance of hers and feel she does things I could never do; whereas, I always feel inadequate and inspired to work harder whenever I watch Yulia, Joanna, or Karina.

If you watch carefully you can see how she compensate for his questionable thinks a lot. Well it is only my opinion, but I am not sure how far Mirko can go with out her. She did not look too spectacular not because she can not dance, but she did a lot of invisible work.
