    - kimmy wilson

  • That was beautiful. I loved it. They should pay you alot of money for how good you are. You should make other similar songs so we can see how good you are at making beautiful songs like that. FROM: ZAMMIS! AGE 9

  • 18 people closed their eyes, ears and minds.

  • with the upmost respect to maragm26.. not for the j, moreso for the great taste in music.. I am a 29 year old who has done enough musical retrospection to see and appreciate the quality in the artists of yesteryear, and this song is a personal favorite of mine which i will sing to my newborn son, just as soon as i know he is old enough to understands. thank you james :D

  • @JonnyWynne1 I don't think that you have to wait until he is "old enough to understand". It is a beautiful song, and I'm sure he will enjoy it no matter what. There is a comfort in a parent's voice :) My mother sung this to me when I was a young child, and even though I don't remember it...every time I hear this song, I associate it with her, and her unconditional love. Now, 19 years later, I'm JUST beginning to appreciate the lyrics and message. But that's just me :D

  • I think this is the best version of the song, ever.

  • Check out video of Ben Taylor - is he not his father's double back in the 70s? Scarey!

  • same here.

  • me too bro,

  • The 9/11 memorial brought me here

  • this was my first love song - my boyfriend played guitar and sang this to me on every occasion ;o)

  • Yes he sure was cute but pretty messed up I gather. He is just as good looking to me now even bald and he definitely has his act together. Saw him in concert last year and it was amazing. He sounds better than ever.

  • Music for a Sunday morning. I like the "old" ones. His music always calms me down and just makes me feel better:-)!

  • Man, what a nice recording and an awesome voice--its unreal--Mara--I think you figured it out. I remember once driving through western Montana at about 6:30 am a perfect morning was exploding golden, I was flying on caffeine and I had JT cranked with the windows all down -- a highlight of my life--JT lives forever. btw I was interested to see that Amy Winehouse was a fan--all the best folks are

  • Wow. I think I just fell in love.

  • wanting this vid to get a million views...im waiting. :)

  • this song is even better when he sings with Carly Simon

  • hippy crap

  • I often sing this song to my granddaughter before she goes to sleep.

  • Beautiful.

  • Getting ready for a reunion with my Jr. H.S. sweetheart after ~ 34 years. I was so touched by this song I haven't heard in a long time. Something you have to say is always JUST RIGHT. Thanks James for still being the sound track of my life!!!

  • I am in looooooove with his voice!

  • I love music..i try to play myself.. But my god! This song is breathless in guitar mastery, delicately wrapped in beautiful, meaningful words..

  • sweet lyrics <3

  • I'm turning 18 years old and leaving for college in August. Waiting here will be my wonderful girlfriend of almost 2 years and I plan on singing this to her before I leave.

  • James Taylor was not only an amazing artist,he WAS freakin gorgeous too, this is how he looked when I was a teenager-I LOVED him. Still do,but I guess I won't be marrying him, that was the dream back then.Saw him in concert in the 70's at Fairfield University in CT.He looked right into my eyes after the concert, from the limo as he scanned the crowd,I froze,

  • 54 as well and I've been listening to JT since I was 14.

  • My 21 year old son is the spittin' image of James at his best - so I get to look at him every day! Lucky me, lucky son, to be so great looking, AND he has a fantastic voice!

  • Well, I'm 54, and I've been listening to JT for 40 years;

and I don't need a joint to appreciate him.

  • @pnolanrn same here, still by far my favorite of 'our' time

  • @goodtuneman

    There is some great talent out there, for sure;

but still, NOBODY holds a candle to JT.

  • Been listening to JT, since I was 16 years old

  • Saw him last night in Houston. Great time! Sang for 2 hrs. straight. Outdoor arena - beautiful weather. PERFECT!

  • James always was, and still is a good looking man, and his music is amazing and deeply meaningful.... HIs music has been my rock for many years.

  • James always was, and still is a good looking man, and his music is amazing and deeply meaningful....

  • And I'm a 58 yea old guy thanking you for your post. Loved it. And this song

  • Hah, I was searching for the studio version of this song. Silly of me to forget JT's voice is studio perfect, even live.

  • gorgeous....as always.

  • He is still as handsome in my eyes... his voice always takes me back to a sweeter time. His tunes are ageless...

  • I am 64, a 69 Woodstock fellow, lived Dylan, Joni, JT, Buffalo Springfield, etc...100% of the time. Drove BSA's & Triumphs..the coolest bikes ever, spent many weekends in Greenwich Village, loved Hashish but too wired for weed. Missed Nam with the lottery, some didn't & never returned. 60's began marriage hell, 2 of my best friends blew their heads off. Many of us were so into the 60's that we were not only distracted parents, but missed growing up. We did not know we had to as we had the music

  • My uncle corey has cp an loves me a lot he e-mailed me this song and I told him "I looked it up on YouTube and it was so sweet thank you corey :-* now I can't stop " and I still love you" -3 it's so sweet I love it

  • This is one of those precious gems that is rarely written! I love this song, and it brings me great peace--and has taught me to hold on and believe in tomorrow! It is beautiful, poignant, and a masterpiece! Love, BobbyK

  • Haunting and lovely; he is a beautiful man.

  • ....and I still love you, JT!

  • Simple it may seem to some. For me it means so much. Love, love, love this song!

  • My mom used to sing this song to me and rub my back every night before I went to sleep when I was a little girl. ='-) I love my mom.

  • He wrote this song to Joni Mitchell

  • Here is 2011 & we're listening to a 1970 video and loving it! That's classic.

  • A beautiful song sung by a beautiful man.

  • 52 listening to JT loving him and yes smoking a joint.

  • So handsome! I fall in love...

  • Wow. The 10 people who dislike this video have no soul.

  • i like it when he says "thanks alot!"

  • he would have been ~ 24 years old in this vid

  • @timin770 He was sweet 22 here.

  • Here I am, a 62-year old "respectable" woman, smoking a joint and listening to JT, the best ever.

    Mara

  • @maragm26 That just makes you more respectable!, I just turned 21 today and I'm smoking a joint and listening to JT

  • @Deflun2 Happy Birthday!!!! Lucky you, you'll have he chance to listen to JT for many, many years. All the best.

  • @maragm26 Awesome me too!!! I'm 60!!! Good music and old hippies never fade!!!

  • @maragm26 I really wish more people would grow up to be persons like you are. We´d surely live in a more peaceful world. Warm greetings from Germany!

  • @Platinger Thank you and all the other who gave me a positive vote. Yes, I am certain that the world would be a better place if more people listened to JT. He and I were born in the same year and he has accompanied me throughout, serving as an inspiration, giving me hope in difficult times.

  • @maragm26 Nice!... Hope you're doing the same at 92

  • @maragm26 Sounds like a plan

  • @maragm26 You go honey. I plan to follow in your footsteps if you don't mind!

  • Any joint left for me?

  • @maragm26 way off topic but do you really think you should be smoking D;

  • I'm a teenager and I listen to songs like this. Yep. This is MUSIC. Genuine, authentic music from the heart and soul.

  • i learned this in camp

  • shame that beautiful hair went away

  • This song is barely familiar to me, but it's sweet and clear, in the spirit of Carolina on my mind..

Thank you for your sweet music.

    Ray

  • My mom sang this song to me all the time as a little girl. Very sweet and sentimental. James Taylor has such talent

  • Comment removed

  • But I can sing this song.

  • Geez, this is an achingly beautiful song.

Shallow comment warning: I had NO idea James Taylor was once this good looking. Good lord.

  • @handsclean16 He still looks good, just older. He sounds even better in his maturity, in my opinion.

  • @handsclean16

Yes, he and Jackson Browne were pretty and so enjoyable to look at back in the days. Glenn Frey had a handsome-bad-boy look. :-)

  • @handsclean16

ha! Ageist!! We were all good looking once..:))

  • @WBiggles

So true. "In youth is beauty"......

  • @handsclean16 He is STILL good-looking.

  • @handsclean16

    He's still good looking!

  • @handsclean16

62 and still a dope-smoking imbecile. Good to know that your generation is hurtling rapidly to their long-overdue dirt nap.

  • @mistergoodear I am suprised how easily you judge people. Literally nothing in her statement should make you unhappy enough to trash her for a joint. She's 62 years old. I think she's earned the right to live her life the way she wants without the criticism of people like you. By that I mean people who are clearly anti pesonal freedom.

  • @HomeStarAlpha I'm not "anti personal freedom". I'm "anti being proud of the fact that you're a brain-dead hippie waste who's no smarter at 62 then you were at 18". Oh, and also "anti refusing to make sound judgments just because you're too stupid to realize that to live is to judge".

  • @mistergoodear Sorry it has taken me so long to reply as I have been on vacation. I think it's hilarious that you just assume that I am a 62 year old hippy that hasn't learned anything since I was 18. I said absolutely "jack squat" about myself. Also, I said nothing about judging some one; only about judging someone so "quckly". I read several of your posts, considered them respectively and then made a judgement. So, congratulations on getting through your first reading lesson.

  • @mistergoodear Surely there are chat rooms for this kind of abuse where you can get off by by being abused back by like minded people? If you need to hate and attack why come to do it where beauitful people listen to beautiful music and reminisce on times past ? We are all hurtling to our demise the moment we leave the womb and don't need to be told or reminded of our fate! Perhaps you may do this when your having your back side wiped by a nurse and if your lucky she might roll you a joint!

  • @maxcady4 Please keep your bizarre sexual fantasies to yourself.

  • @mistergoodear I dont remember saying any thing about hot wax and a snooker ball???

  • @handsclean16 We were all young once...LOL...I too remember these youthful days when us men of our 50's had hair...These were special times...

  • @handsclean16 - We were all once this beautiful. We still think he is beautiful now because his inner self shines through that olden body.

  • lindo

  • Ben Taylor (James's Son) also sings this song really well

  • I accepted a marriage proposal based on this song...marriage didn't work out...but this song is still so significant in my live 33 year later (OMG...33 years????)

  • Every day I listen to the Carole King and James Taylor Live at The Troubadour Album during my commute from Quincy, MA on the subway train to Boston, MA. It's a shame that the younger generations (my generation) doesn't see how amazing your music really is.

  • It's amazing how much a single man can bring joy to so many people. What's also amazing is that my generation ( the younger generation) doesn't understand how amazing James Taylor and the music of his generation actually is. Thank you James. You are my Idol.

  • the epitome of singer-songwriter.

  • ferme tes yeux et tu as 30ans de moins quelle belle chanson....merci James

  • @goldieloc4 @zoedaria Really? You think a youtube profile says everything about me? Huh, you guys must be really good. The guy I replied to said something that had NOTHING to do with the video or the song, plus, it was just plain troll-ish. And why am I a loser? I never said I hate Christians, I just don't think that guy was making any sense and was just shouting GOD BLESS HIMSELF. Wtf is that supposed to mean? Get real, not everybody that comments indirectly on your religion is a loser.

  • This was the first James Taylor song I ever heard. I am now in love with James Taylor's music!

  • JT BEST ! BLESS GOD *

  • @CHRISTSmusiciansSEA ...WTF? He should bless himself? How does that work... Fucking Christians...

  • @Regdarx11 / just looked at your profile!!!! what a joke// how dare you make a comment on anybodys beliefs/ bless god that most of the world does not know you!!!!!!!!!! what a loser

  • 10 years ago having indocrinated my son into James Taylor, Carly Simon, Paul Simon and Jim Croce I took him and his friends to a JT concert. The 12 of them have never looked back. He is as timeless as the Beatles. All of you fans keep introducing him and his ilk to the new generations - they love him! TRNC North Cyprus 2010

  • This is a special song sent to me by a friend. Love it.

  • I first heard this watching a repeat of a 70s concert at the BBC on the TV. I actually missed it, as i'd heard a few songs on it before. a couple of days ago I heard a guy singing this in a pub (albeit badly), and fell in love with it. James at his enchanting best.

  • I'm going to sing this song when i get my camcorder :) also so my family was going on a trip 3 hours away and all we sang was this song and the sheryl crow version xD

  • To Lauren. I wish I could sing you this song, but you're 250 miles away...

  • @Regdarx11 a suitable song might be "Hey there Delilah" by the plain white t's

  • My mum used to sing this to me as a lullaby all the time. I love this song.

  • not sure what this song is about, but i sang it to my dad last year one night as he lay in a coma. his breathing was labored. he had been sick for a while. the next day was my birthday and my dad passed away. i love him so much. please pray for him...pray for me.

  • @utubuser10 I definitely will. My dad died in May so I know how it is. You sound like a good daughter/son.

    Take it easy.

  • @headstock48, thank you...

  • My dad always sang this to me as a little kid...reminds me of him so much :)

  • honey for the ears...

  • How a song can be so simple and beautiful! So full of love!

  • Kurt Hagemann we miss you so much and you left so many behind! James thank you for expressing things that are ineffable! Your style and musical presence is unparalleled. But it's strange how you have to have a certain intellect, heart and life experience to really understand James!!!

  • Check out the really cool version done by Eddie Vedder and Natalie Maines.

  • I used to sing this song to my sweet baby daughter Stephanie, miss those days!!!

  • nobody play guitar like james

  • @1115Wolfman His son can! He looks and sounds just like him!

  • Magic

  • james can do no wrong!

  • beautiful version so strong and clear, love you James! You are the master of all music.xo

  • nice..james..i love it.....

  • james taylor. the voice of angel. one of the prettiest songs ever.

  • my mom sang this to me all the time when i was sad as a kid

  • I sang this song to my kids (with my husband) every night after we read them a story (they are now a daughter, 24, and boy twins, almost 22) AND I was able to tell JT in person at a Barnes and Noble when he signed his CD (and my copy of his first LP album) a few years ago. I felt like I knew him for a long time, which I kind of did.

  • Wonderful song...Love you Jenn; always have & always will <3

  • My favorite James Taylor song.

  • eyes....voice...i've been in love with James Taylor since 1972.

  • This is my son's bedtime song.

  • Significant, beautiful

  • classic song

  • I saw James Taylor and Carole King again last night in Tampa. This was the last song of the evening.. I can close my eyes and appreciate that he sounds exactly the same... they both do... I will never be able to eloquently explain how much the song writing of both JT and Carole King feed my soul!

  • I sang this to my infant daughter while I rocked her in the night.

(We did not want to wake up the "Mommy Bear"!)

My 34 year old "Baby Bear" still loves her "Daddy Bear"... and "Mommy Bear" and I just recently passed our 30th year of DIVORCE!

It's not easy when there is only one romantic or passionate person in a marriage.

Yet, we can pass on to our children what we believe in... if we try.

    Thanks J.T.!

  • he was so attractive! oh i love this song-when i am older and have my first baby, this will be their lullaby <3

  • My favourite James Taylor song. He is a living legend.

  • This was my lullaby when I was a little baby...brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it(':

  • james taylor is my hero...what'd i'd do to meet that man...

  • he is my prince charming, like seriously... if someone gave me a choice between fame and fortune or a 1970's James Taylor I'd probably choose James. HAHA!! seriously tho where is my james taylor....

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one who cries when she hears this song. '-) It's gorgeous and heartfelt and singularly simple.

  • Hey do like James Taylor I do then check out Jim Cole he sounds just like him
