  • What was the power source of the fan?

  • i tryed using this way for wiring off road lights but ones i add the other power from the switch inside the car to the relay, my switch burns dont understand why

  • I have a whole excessery fuse box added to my truck for a shit load of stuff from my MSD to my fans. I'm not using any relays and when i turn my fans on my ac guage drops big time. In stead of useing a relay for everything hooked to the extra fuse box could a hook up a relay that would cover the whole draw of the exsessery fuse box? At this point my alltinator can't even keep up and i'm chargeing my battery just to keep it fully charged.

  • im stuck with putting in a relay with my foglights i end up having one prong left and nothing to put on it

  • @Hulkizb0mb Still need help?

  • to put in a switch with the relay they both need 12v power one to switch and relay from battery ?

  • so you need a dedicated 12v+ line to actually power the device correct? the 12v+ ignition or switch lead can be spliced off anything?

  • you've helped me understand the basic need for relays, now, what is the logic behind multiple relays, such as in wiring door actuators?

  • hey nice video thankx for pozting it but i see there iz a wire going out of the fan (blue) and connecting to a black one, what iz it conected to? and the power connecting to 87 is from the battery??

  • @TheCarlosMendiola The other wire from the fan should be to ground. Every device that uses electricity must have a ground. And power to 87 is fused from the battery (or should be)

  • For the coil, does it matter which end is positive and negative? I'm preddy sure it will produce the magnetic field either way but I want to know for sure.

  • So, a relay makes use of two separate circuits, right? One for the magnet and one to actually power the device?

  • i shoud of paid more attention in class about electrical, but thank goodness for you tube..helpful ppl like you! thanks for posting

  • thank you for the video!

  • thanks a bunch i totally forgot about this gadaget since electrical school 15 years ago funny how the basics seam to dissapear in life.

  • duh

  • Thanks for the informative video. I'm just starting on some wiring projects for lights and accessories on my UTV and have always wondered how difficult relays were to install, looks very easy and safe and actually much safer than just a fuse and a switch.

  • are my speakers messed up or is this just retarded :)

  • Can you recommend a cheap, 30 amp, 120 volt relay I can control with either 12 or 120 volt?

  • Could you reverse this?

I want to plug a remote lead in to power to turn it on!

  • good demo on how relays work

  • Hey, i want to do the opposite of what a relay does. What i want is something that can close the relay circuit when the other circuit is open and vice versa.

That is, when a wire is disconnected it turns on

  • i have to buy 2 dozens of relay on my car! thank you soooo much for this.... i dont have any idea about whats happening on my car until i found your informative video... thanks again.....

  • you have no idea how much this helped me!

  • Damn. You make it sound so simple I have to do this

  • omg this was simply the best teaching out of any teacher that i have ever been to!

  • does the power switch need 12 volt ran to it also???becasue two 12 volt powers confuse me i might be dumb but could u plzs explain LOL

  • can u tell me in better detail LOL how to wire in a retained acc power unit,to power my stereo after the key is off but shuts off the stereo after the drivers door is open?

  • Moss

    U can trust

  • Gee, I didn't know that the naming of these contact points was standardized. That's a point worth remembering.

  • great teacher, simple and to the point

  • you're great and your explanation is amazing... thanks for your efforts and time consumed.

    regards

  • thank you !!!

  • this cleared my whole confusion on relays. but i do have one question: how do i use a relay to flash the parking lights on my car?

  • What an absolutely terrific video! Wow! How clear, simple and straight up! Thank you for taking the time to explain relays as you have. Standing ovation.

  • lol...thats pretty creative with the paper...very creative.

  • thanks this explained it perfect!

  • Thanks, for an informative video!

  • I think one of the best uses for this is the horn circuit. The horn push frequently gets dirty and so this would make the horn more responsive.
