She might have little knowledge of technique now, but her sense of timing is excellent... and for me, that's the most important thing.

one typical thing of a beginner is she hits the hi-hat with the shaft of the drumstick and not the tip...

You have to, to splash the hat. Also gives it a nice razz when you hit it with the side of the stick. RAZZ RAZZ RAZZ. If you you smash into every cymbol with the tip you will get a nice CLACK sound, heard alot in metal songs, but you bound to break a stick much faster.
