Great song, luv this duo. why do bloggers have to make unkind remarks about S&G?? just enjoy the music. They are wonderful people, make such wonderful music. have become a fan of S&G overnight and all i do is watch the Central Park concert videos,
@joediver1119 "You deal in understatement my friend. Art Garfunkle is a GREAT singer." GREAT or "TALENTED," we have no argument—Buddy. (Incidentally, you misspelled your idol's name.) Although, musical enjoyment: subjective! Ratings game you and the rest of your "friends" on YouTube play goes beyond rational argument. I, myself, judge Paul Simon to be more talented: guitarist, composer, lyricist and singer. Really GREAT singer? Around the world: Luciano Pavarotti.
@joediver1119 "You deal in understatement my friend. Art Garfunkle is a GREAT singer." Yeah—Buddy. And without Paul Simon's material, Garfunkel never really got it going on his own...?
that is definitely true Todd W. Dave matthews concerts (I have never been but I have seen video footage) are a cornucopia of drunk college students wearing kilts, free consumption of cheap domestic beer, "scavengers" looking for hits of other peoples weed, and flute solos. There are a decent amount of hot bitches but you have to wade through a thick sea of fraternity homos and high school scenesters.
I agree 100 percent, the solo Simon version rules, sounds better without Art. The lyrics that you posted are my favorite part...ever since I first heard this song almost 30 years ago when I was a kid.
WOW! This is fantastic. I always loved this song, it didn't get nearly the airplay or success it deserved when it came out. So glad it was captured on video. Everyone here is just so happy and playing so great. And the two coolest dudes at the gig are of course Paul and Art.
What a brass section - fantastic!

Art Garfunkel carrys himself strangely. No rhithym. He could never 'perform- he doesnt know what to do w/ his arms or hands. ha
clynnehouse 11 months ago
@clynnehouse Yes, Art is a little awkward. Not a dancer. But a great ear and a talented singer.

Then I learned to play some lead guitar
I was underage in this funky bar
And I stepped outside to smoke myself a "J"
And when I came back to the room
Everybody just seemed to move
And I turned my amp up loud and I began to play
And it was late in the evening
And I blew that room away
...amazing lyrics and the percussion accompanyment is fantastic..I kind of like Paul's solo version better....not really an Art fan.

Some say Dylan is the best songwriter, or Neil Young, etc etc, but NOONE can come close to Paul Simon's songwriting ability. Bravo!
