"Strange I know" was the very first Record I purchased on my own at age 13. I've loved the Marvelettes ever since and they are my favorite Motown Girl group of all time. "Too Many Fish In the Sea", 'Play Boy" , "My Daddy Knows Best" are just some of the songs that show strong lyrics of wisdom by the them. Gladys Horton and Wanda Rogers gave the group a unique sound from the start in spite of several personel changes in the group in their later years.
it's awesome how when you hear a song, such as this, jump on your mind and you know it;s somewhere from your childhood memory and then you pull of the song on you tube and hear it again and your minds picture goes right to the place and time and everything comes back to you, even the smell . Don't you just love it. Smiling my ass off 'cause I love reminiscing its the feel good drug that's all natural. 1960 baby, in the house diggin on the sounds of Motown
Mis you Gladys..oh how i Remember this song when I was 7yrs old bac in 1963 brooklyn ny..I used to play this over and over again..this to me was their saddest.
This song always makes me feel some kind of way. So for me. Cannot deny '60's music was, is and always will be the best (not just saying that b'cuz I'm a 60's baby).
You can see the classic Motown sound trying to take shape here, it's H-D-G though (Holland-Dozier-Gorman), so the chemistry wasn't quite there, but it was a glimpse of coming greatness for the company.
This record was released on Oct. 29, 1962, while the Marvelettes were on the first Motortown Revue which started Oct. 26, 1962. I remember seeing all the artist and others out in front of Hitsville that morning while my dad drove me and my sister to school (about 6: 10 AM). It was real cold that morning (about -11 degrees with the wind). Otherwise, we would have had to "foot it" to school that morning.
@ThePrayerful Well bless your heart, ThePrayerful. You are a product of the 60s and people like you can fully appreciate the Motown Sound (which we in Detroit lived through). Those born in the 50s and 60s had the chance to "feel" the effects of the Motown Sound in the 1970s. Consider yourself fortunate too.
You can't think of this is terms of all the Marvelettes songs because this was an early song and we didn't have a history to go by. "Postman...great. Strange I Know...that's cool. I'm looking forward to what's next."
this music has soul its nice to hear the unique sound not a melting pot of shit but idividual sound nice thnx for posting

The greatest song ever written about coming to terms with the loss of love.

@xunclexx How I would love to have those memories. You are so fortunate. I'm from Jersey but Motown is very close to my heart.

Me 2. When I was a kid (about 5 years old) I used to stand in front of the Hi-fi and watch this record play over and over and over and over......
