Well, this is not something I would hear every single day of my life, if you understand what I mean. But they created a style: they joined the extreme hardcore punk, from Napalm Death, with the intustrial experience of Throbbing Gristle. This is extreme and minimalistic, powerful and spiritual. A sort of mantra for the decline of Industrial society.
Seeing shortened text online makes me puke. Stuff like: btw, and imo. I just puked again. Oh and don't get me started on internet faces like: :D or :P. This comment is really pointless, but I really needed to get that off my chest.
I keep coming back to Godflesh, not an easy band to get into, but I'm hoping more of their music grows on me, because I really loved Like Rats & Christbait rising. Fear Factory are my favourite band and its always interesting to find out about their own influences. Any recommendations of what album to listen to other than Streetcleaner?
I first saw Godflesh in Reseda CA, opening for Napalm Death on the Streetcleaner tour. They played after Napalm and someone got stabbed in the pit area. =(
hey, i was at that same show. with nocturnas. the grindcrusher tour. guy got stabbed by some suicidals after he slapped his girlfriend. heard they killed him outside the country club, but have no idea if that's true.
I picked up Pure years ago out of the clearance bin just because it looked intriguing. I ain't been the same since.
Veins, Tiny Tears, Like Rats, Christbait Rising, Spite, Mothra, Predominance, I Wasn't Born to Follow, Don't Bring Me Flowers, Monotremata, Love Hate Slugbaiting, Xynobis, Bigot, Black Boned Angel, Mantra, Hunter, Gift From Heaven, Frail, Us and Them, Anthem, White Flag, Regal, Perfect Skin, Slateman.
Long time Godflesh fan. What I always liked about them is that, underneath all the murk and utter bleakness, they somehow managed to reatin a sense of melody. For example, during the breakdown section, the chords are actually quite pretty!
Hearing this has made me want to dig out my old Godflesh LP's again. Cheers!
hhaha, well good on him for trying, good to see someone else that 'gets' godflesh, ive played it to other musician friends and they didnt like it, said it sounded dumb and boring. my drummer friend especially didnt like it coz of the drum machine, fair enough though. each to their own!!

godflesh is sweet. they make ugly distorted noise, in the most beautiful and epic way possible.

@rammstein99835 "ugly distorted noise, in the most beautiful and epic way possible." - not a bad way to describe them ! ;)
