Ruptured mine in the gym but didn't realize what I had done thought I had just pulled a muscle but one week later collapsed in agony and was rushed to hospital and had a splenectomy. I had lost five pints of blood and was told I was very lucky.

May I ask what hospital you were having this done? and who was the doctor? I have to get splenectomy due to there is lesion growing inside my spleen, now is 3.1 cm. Thanks for sharing this info and video...

last year i was riding my horse and suddenly he jumped up into the air and knocked me into the horn of the saddle. in minutes i turned gray and was later taken to the hospital. turned out my spleen was ripped in half so i had to have it removed. i wanted to see what they do to you in surgery... i think i should have left it as a mystery, that's sooo gross!

July 19, 2010 for me.

My spleen was actually 6cm enlarged.

It was 17 cm big. My surgeon removed my spleen with a nail size hole, he chopped it up in a bag and removed it piece by piece.

He is a very clean and nice job.

LOL! I dropped to 3 grams of hemoglobin/dL during the surgery. LOL! I was given 2 units of RBC in 2 hours, fastest transfusion of my life. LOL

i had a splenectomy done due to a blood disease. MAke sure that you get a booster shot for pneumonia evry 3-5 years!!

Wow it's so mad that i had my spleen out due to a bad fall but i never had laparoscopic so i have a huge scar but it saved my life ;0)

i had that done 3 years ago because I had an enlarged spleen.you can't even see my scars anymore.they had to make 6 different incisions but it was very small.
