im 16 i have 4mm septum , 30mm ear lobes 10mm labret and a few other things i mod myself and started at 12 because i sumed up i dont want to live a boreing life with an office job i wud rather be out there doing something i love, something i can put my passion into and with my piecings i wil never have to turn to liveig a life i hate, also the way it looks the way you can make something look how you want to look , it is a beautiful thing and a beatiful feeling, i will mod myself till i die :)
so... job interviews, employers... open question for others posting responses... do you take out your piercings, cover the tattoos? How do you feel about having to do this and do you think it will become more acceptable for body modifications to some extent to be visible in the workplace?
My mum has said if get any more piercings or stretch my ears any bigger then she'll kick me out. It just made me realise - sometimes the most judgmental people in the world, are actually those closest to you.
hopefully one day she'll actually grow up and accept me for who I am, instead of being the real child in this relationship.
Right on about the 'everybody wants to be cool' thing, I stretched my ears to 22mm, but still think it's not enough. I love stretching them, and for me it's not to be 'cool' anymore, It's beacause I love stretching, I've stretched every piercing I ever got.

Joe, i wanted to thank you for putting into words how i feel about mods. i've had my ears stretched for about two years, but actually went past a 0 earlier this year. I've been at 7/16 for about 6 months now and (this is gonna sound lame) but my parents wouldn't let me stretch them farther cause i'm only 16. And when i saw this video last week, i showed my parens, and they finally understand that my ears actually mean something to me. Thankyou for helping me explain things in a way i couldnt.

I like how my mom and other spanish ladies ask me why I have tattoos and why I stretch my ears yet they have eyebrows tattooed on top of their eyebrows and eyeliner tattoos too. Its a stupid question in my opinion. They do their shit cuz they think they look beautiful with it. Well I think I look beautiful with my ears stretched and my skin tattooed. I feel more like ME when I do these things and I love it. I always just ask people why they do something they do and then they shut up.

I've always kind of laughed to myself when reading a lot of experiences and watching you read the emails from kids (and yes that is what some of you are...KIDS) 15-16 yr olds who are stretching just for the simple wow factor of it all because when you're young like that, you like to get a reaction from people. Whether they admit that or not, it's true. I'm 27 and when I was young like that, it wasn't about stretching and all but I
did all I could to be different because it 'shocked' people. I grew up and thought to myself a few years later 'wow what the fuck was I thinking?' It's so funny because whether its back in 1999 or 2009....teenagers are young and ignorant to everything and we can't tell them anything. In no way am I hating but I just would like to emphasize as permanent as a mod is....please do not take it as a race, a popularity contest, or a reason to possibly injure your body beyond possible repair.
If you are going to modify yourself, do the research yourself. Don't listen to your friends because no matter how close of a friend they may be...that doesn't mean they know how to do something correctly. Do some reading on some reputable informative websites. A little reading won't kill you I promise! :P I'm currently at 9/16" and it's taken me almost 4 years to get there. Take the time and listen to your body. That will really help in the overall process of stretching and healing.
first of all im 26 years old and just started stretching my ears again 5 or 6 months ago the last time i stretched my ears was in early high school i was like 14 has i got older i grew out of it and just wore like 10ga hoops and diamond studs imat 1/2 and glad i got back into body mods this is the biggest my lobes have been and i love it if i would have keep doing it when i was younger i would be eaisly at 2 inches if not bigger so i say do what makes u happy and fuck the haterz
The things you said are so true, when people ask me why I always say, because it makes me happy. And its funny you said you dont think your that modified but other people with less mods think you are, I totally agree with that. I got a lot of implants and a tongue split but I dont see myeslf heavily modified either but other people do. I guess that in the end its what you think about yourself and not what other thinks about you that counts.

Hey Joe, You explained this very well. I've had many dicussions about this with my family and friends, they just keep saying they dont understand it and I tell them that they dont have to. I'm gonna keep doing it whether they understand it or not.
For me, it's a simple case of this is how I want to look. Thats it. Looking this way appeals to me massively. I enoy stretching, I enjoy getting pierced, I enjoy seeing and discussing it with others who also enjoy it. In a way, I enjoy the way it disgusts people and grosses people out, not for the attention, but being labelled as a freak makes me feel normal. If a freak's somebody different and people are all different, a freak's pretty normal, right?
my cause for body mod is not only because i love it but because it has helped with my depression it has helped with my self esteem it has made me personaly feel better about myself and etc though i go against my mother i cant stop for no one and the only person i can stop for is myself and i dont see that happenning anytime soon.......sorry if it didnt make sense but thats how i personally feel about body modding

I began stretching because it always fascinated me never thought id do it but hell after hanging around a few people with stretched ears it kind grew on me.Iiv always been the kid that everyone kinda outed. its given me my anti-mainstream and anti label mentality. im a hip hop/graffiti kid (old skool hip hop) with a new found love for hardcore music who rides a banana board i made in shop class...i mean how much more fuck society and all its bullshit can you get. I do it because it makes me feel beautiful & it helps me get closer to my ideal image of myself. It makes me happy & complete. When people ask me why I just tell them I want to and it makes me happy. It's really funny to fuck with people's heads (idiots haha) & make up shit about how your earlobes get stretched so big. My friend told someone:"Oh I got this surgically put in and if I take it out I'll bleed everywhere." - so they wouldn't ask him to take his plug out. lmfao.

For me, it's a simple case of this is how I want to look. Thats it. Looking this way appeals to me massively. I enoy stretching, I enjoy getting pierced, I enjoy seeing and discussing it with others who also enjoy it. In a way, I enjoy the way it disgusts people and grosses people out, not for the attention, but being labelled as a freak makes me feel normal. If a freak's somebody different and people are all different, a freak's pretty normal, right?

my cause for body mod is not only because i love it but because it has helped with my depression it has helped with my self esteem it has made me personaly feel better about myself and etc though i go against my mother i cant stop for no one and the only person i can stop for is myself and i dont see that happenning anytime soon.......sorry if it didnt make sense but thats how i personally feel about body modding

well i dont just want to do it behind their backs cuz i dont wanna lose any trust or anything. so maybe on christmas they will let me. they keep telling me i will have trouble finding a job with it (a fricken 8g hahahaha) and that it will never shrink (again an 8g) they are ignant lol
