You Tube is very much a community for most users. That is because they have not blocked the majority of You Tube users like you have done. You only have a select group of friends who are not blocked; since hundreds and hundreds of people use You Tube, blocking most users doesn't work. If you want You Tube to feel like a community, than you can turn it into a community if you want. You don't need the You Tube staff to fix a problem that you can fix yourself.

I agree with you. I would rather see more vlogs and communication on youtube. It seems more like entertainment as far as some videos go. To be fair, not all videos are pure entertainment, some are vlogs where people actually talk about their life which is interesting, but there doesn't seem to be enough vlogging nowadays.

You have some orginal bands that start something then the corperations come in and try to take over and commercialize it until it's no longer cool or relevant then they leave to go ruin something else treating it all like a cheap whore. I came to YT because of the corporate content that people were uploading - because I wanted to hear songs / watch TV without paying for it which is I think how a lot of people got into YT, then I found vloggers like paperlilies and community channel ect. who I enjoy. So I think people will still find it, and more people will make videos, and watch them... it will just be bigger numbers and you wont be able to get such a big audiance share for a video.

Totally agree with what you say. It's fair enough to have corporate material for promotional purposes, but why keep it in the same place? They could separate the corporate content buy making a corporate section of youtube just like switching from the Global site to the UK site. I don't want to see X Factor on TV let alone on youtube!

I first joined youtube (under a different username) in January 2006. Back then a lot of people didn't even know what it was, and the site was a lot more fun, because it was independent. Less censored (more freedom), less mainstream (videos that were complete trash didn't get featured), site had more character (something it completely lacks now) and it was just a lot more fun. It's become like normal TV and it's not what I joined it for.

Yeah, but nn matter how much money corperations put into youtube vids, no matter how sponsored they get, their view count will always be beaten by vids of girls dancing in their underwear. Or just girls dancing period.
Even really crappy picture quality ones.
I dont know whether that is good or bad though : P

Totally agree with what you say. It's fair enough to have corporate material for promotional purposes, but why keep it in the same place? They could separate the corporate content buy making a corporate section of youtube just like switching from the Global site to the UK site. I don't want to see X Factor on TV let alone on youtube!

I first joined youtube (under a different username) in January 2006. Back then a lot of people didn't even know what it was, and the site was a lot more fun, because it was independent. Less censored (more freedom), less mainstream (videos that were complete trash didn't get featured), site had more character (something it completely lacks now) and it was just a lot more fun. It's become like normal TV and it's not what I joined it for.

Good show. But I don't believe all the doom and gloom. Certain things even Oprah can't horn in on. Neither can corporate America. They wish they had this type of creativity. And yes, you're right. YouTube should organize content better. But do they care? After all, YouTube is corporate, too.

Don't worry about it, you'll always have plenty of fans regardless of who's sharing the cyber-medium. I agree too, that Oprah on utoob goes against all "Youtube logic" perse, it's supposed to be about unknowns feeling like they can "be on t.v.", a forem for regular people.

Yes it sucks! I hate to say it, but this is the World we live in! Its all about money! Most wannabe popstars don't even know you have to pay for your own CD's and advertisements with your "advanced pay" which is like a loan and you pay interest back on slyly through your agents/managers commision w/e! Sorry to say, but this will never change, everyone wants to make money! Its a sad fact of life!

Youtube admins should catergorize videos made for big businesses separately from genuine youtubers videos.
They sholdn't mix them up.

i disagree that there are two camps; there is a lot inbetween -people who fall someone inbetween simply talking to a webcam and being a major corporation. You seem to think that your videos are the esscence of youtube.. but i listen to you without watching your videos, because seeing you talking doesn't add anything... do you see my point?
You assume that the 'core'- the majority - wants to watch the less 'main stream' videos, but surely the viewing figures are showing that not to be the case
