  • The spiritual details of this film exposed me to a unique culture and beliefs. The documentary My Reincarnation has the same ability to teach through art. The story tells of a young male's challenge to accept the title of spiritual leader that he was born into. Without directly doing so, customs, traditions, and history of Tibetan Buddhism are displayed before us as the family travels between Tibet and their home in Italy. If it’s playing in your city you'll regret not seeing it bit . ly/uxvCpL

  • SUR-REAL

  • looks beautiful

  • Look's like the best boring film in the world

  • what country is this from?

  • @greeenmonsterfix21 Thailand, specifiacally Northen Thailand (Isaan)

  • @lileichmann Issan is north east of Thailand

  • @ThEarthborn Well if we want to get technical it's not Northeast "of" but actually Northeastern Thailand. I have family in Sakon Nakhon...

  • @greeenmonsterfix21 Thailand

  • When people don't understand or are bored by it they call it bad and pretentious. Not all art is supposed to be entertaining. Some art works are meant to make you think and feel or experience someone else's worldview. I celebrate this film because its wholly unique. It doesn't rely on meta film references and it doesn't rely on a regular narrative structure.

  • @moviemanwill Make you think? there is a scene in the end with a guy taking a shower with almost 2 minutes...

  • @moviemanwill Things that make an audience member think, feel, or experience someone else's worldview turn out to be entertaining. If the director fails to entertain, then he/she has also failed the audience. This director has failed to engage his/her audience.

  • Can anybody please kindly tell me why this film deserved a Palme d'Or?

I can't seem to analyze this film or at least get a little bit of hint or clue why this film is a Cannes winner. I didn't get anything out of it but frustration and Z's. Anybody?

  • This was by FAR the weirdest movies i have EVER seen. I've never been at a festival screening where so many people walked out.

oh and not weird in the good way... just weird....

  • @jasmincornford 89% by 83 review like this movie

    Average rating: 7.9/10

    source: rottentomatoes

  • @jasmincornford maybe you're just a moron?

  • @khomatech hmm... I never said that I didn't understand the film, just that I thought it was werid.

I bet you feel really good about yourself now that you've insulted someone on the other side of that world that you dont even know. Do you? You feel like a big strong man now? Good, I'm glad.

  • @MissJasminC i never implied that you didn't understand it, just that you were perhaps a moron. not an insult, just a hypothesis. go on and bake some cookies, mother goose.

  • @khomatech nope, not a moron, don't bake cookies nor am I a mother.

Why dont you tell us what YOU thought of them film?

  • Worst film ever....

  • There are always so many spelling errors in youtube comments...

  • what is the song in this trailer?

  • This isn't the good trailer IMO. there is another one that is better. I can see how some might think it is dull, but I actually think it's scary, more scary than actual horror movies. I guess just because it seems more real.

  • That was very dull trailer.

  • It's refreshing to see a quiet and contemplative film trailer that doesn't try to rock your dome into the next dimension with comically overused bass notes.

  • Firstly - I am gay, you are right

Secondly - It is an insult for people like you, so you are right again - it is sad.

Thirdly - Again: Palme d'or is more important then OScar and other bullshits.

    I am not replying anymore

  • @bgdatman Who ever said that I use gay as an insult. YOU'RE THE ONE who is doing that, not me. The fact, that you're gay and doing that is pretty self degrading.

Secondly, you're assuming that I'm bashing the Palme D'or or are praising mainstream films. I'm not. I'm saying THIS film is horrible.

Thirdly, you're still reply 5 months after our initial conversation. You're obviously butthurt about this, which is pathetic.

  • Now showing at the guild cinema in albuquerque.

  • Just saw this last night and it haunted my dreams. Very strange film, but taken as a whole, it's incredibly powerful....even if I wasn't always sure what was going on. I can see how some people might not like it. It demands a lot of its audience, but I thought it was brilliant.

  • Looks so beautifull. Wish I could see it!!

  • Oh man I really want to see this movie!

  • Please post information about where/when we can see the whole thing in theaters.

  • I just want you to know that the language, which is spoken in the movie, is not Thai. It's called E-San language which is spoken in the North-Eastern part of Thailand. Anyway, almost everyone in the part can speak both Thai and Esan fluently.

  • @MFUEnglishClub i think it is Thai on the first part of the movie one of the character said he couldn't understand Isaan

  • @TheMassline Yeah, Thai language is used in some parts to make the boy named Tong understand because he is from Bangkok. But the main characters use Esan to communicate.

  • nice trailer!

  • BEAUTY OF CINEMA

  • looks immense

  • Ohhh I have to watch this... I hope I will find something cool inside these imaginative scenes!

  • If some people felt bad because this film won the Palm d' Or, beat it, stop moaning and better luck next 2011. Congratulations to Apichatpong.

If you are still bothered why some people like this film and its recognition, turn somewhere else, Cannes is not for you. Try the Razzies instead...

  • this mov rules,

feels like a David Lynch film

  • This movie sold out in like 2 minutes at the Chicago International Film Fest!

  • These films are unabashed art films, if you are in a hurry or not a fan of the "Third World Cinema" aesthetic - it will probably make you angry.

  • It's playing at the Chicago International Film Festival!

  • This movie was sooo boring. Can't believe it won.

This makes me hate Tim Burton even more.

  • @whenindoubtdo you are stupid

  • @bgdatman Yeah. Great defense there of a pretentious piece of pseudo-intellectual garbage. The film was disjointed, had no coherent plot and would only appeal to the art-fag crowd.

  • @whenindoubtdo and sad

  • @bgdatman You are a art fag who interprets an absence of plot, low production value and shitty camera work for something praiseable.

  • @whenindoubtdo I am a fag, but the rest you said...is still shallow. GO and look a highbudget crap. ignoring from now.

  • @whenindoubtdo I am a fag, and so are you...

  • @bgdatman You're insulting me 5 fucking months after I made fun of your crappy film. Did I really hurt your feelings that much?!?

  • @whenindoubtdo you're insulting me a fucking moment after I made fun of your hidden sexual desires. Find a boyfriend. ;)

  • @bgdatman Sorry, but I'm not gay. The fact that you're simply using this as an insult to people is pretty sad, ESPECIALLY if you yourself are gay.

  • @FilledSpace Your comment doesn't seem to make any sense. I replied to his comment a few hours after he made it. Thanks for playing.

  • @whenindoubtdo Since when was a "coherent plot” an essential in cinema? Do you look for a "coherent plot” when you read a poem? It’s a great shame people are so closed minded to film. People never compare a poem to a Novel ... So why do people compare films that adopt a poetic approach to films that are narrative based? Cinema really shouldn’t be limited to just narrative; it’s capable of much more. Really, are telling me when you read a poem, you will discredit it if it has no plot

  • @jovossuck123 what are you talking about? All poems have coherent plots.

  • @TheUmmwhatever You'll have to explain that to me, your concept of plot maybe different to other peoples. My point was cinema shouldnt be limited to one ideology, in literature you dont look for the same things in a poem to which you would in a novel ... its the same with cinema. A william carlos williams poem if compared to the standards of War in peace, would be terrible ... If you compare a film like Uncle Boonme to that of a narrative focused film, it will always fall short.

  • @TheUmmwhatever Poetry is a trancendent ideololgy in all mediums. Whether you argue it has coherent plots or not that is usually not the aim of it. Capuring a moment, enviroment or a state of mind and seeing the importance of it despite its mundane exterior was the aim of most of the great poets." A narrative person will look at a tree and see how it could affect or be involved in a situation, but a poet looks at a tree and sees the importance of its soul entity." - A. Tarkovsky

  • I saw it n Kaunas films festival and I was amazed by this films, I want to see it again

  • where can we find this movie? must AWESOME!

  • I have to say, this trailer gives some feel for the movie's atmosphere, but it makes it look really grim when it's actually quite warm and playful, even sometimes funny. And they hardly show the Ghost Monkeys at all, which are the film's big selling point!

  • Just saw this at the New York Film Festival this afternoon - a really lovely experience. Not quite the equal of his "Tropical Malady" or "Syndromes and a Century," to my mind, but that's a terribly high bar. Some of his crew were there, too, charming young people who were selling t-shirts and little bags with the movie poster on them to raise funds to help pay for their lodging and plane fare. My favorite filmmaker entourage ever.

  • WHERE CAN I FIND THIS FILM TO WATCH????

  • @onephiftyone In a damn cinema.

  • @dimeFFM no, there is no cinema showing it (Bangkok)

  • Comment removed

  • looks arthousey... why don't cannes give out rewards for original work? Maybe its just the trailer.

  • @crescentpics This director's work is about as original as films get. You don't really know much at all, do you?

"Looks arthousey"... Jesus H. Christ. Why try to understand a work when you can slap a simplistic label on it?

  • if u wil see this movie, don't try to understand but try to dream, with children eyes

  • a very very very boring film, don't deserve this palm !!!

  • looks boring.

  • @datafork your comment is boring. ZING!

  • ive seen all his films and i refuse to watch this palm d'or at the Mubi (ex auteurs) mainly because im sure that it will be a very interesting experience...it has had so many detractors at Cannes but im sure that i will be surprised by his talent.

  • does anyone know the name of the instrumental music of this trailer?.

  • I've never seen anything like this from the Southeast. I was transfixed through the entire trailer. Looks deserving of the Palme d'Or, we'll see.

  • does anyone know when, or if, this is getting a UK release date?

  • pride of thailand

  • I hope this gets released in Toronto. if this got the Palm D'or, then it is definitely one of the best movies of the year.

  • this movie needs big explanation.

  • Is this movie not going to be showed in Thailand?

  • @PeterBKKBJJ

Theatrical distribution in Thailand is uncertain. "Every time I release a movie, I lose money because of the advertising and promotion, so I'm not sure if it's worth it, even though I would love to show it at home", Apichatpong said in an interview

  • Read "Children who remember previous lives: a question of reincarnation" or "Twenty cases suggestive of reincarnation", by Dr. IAN STEVENSON, you will understand evrything.

  • @5202956 555

  • Anyone knows which music is that?

  • Definitely can't wait to see it. This is a genre I like.

  • i've seen this film at the cannes film festival. it's really refreshing and impressive. i'm not sure i can explain or say much about it, but it really is something special, with extremely powerful images and feelings. not your typical arthouse film or typical anything. glad it won the palme d'or.

  • @Martinofredwall100

Well hope it comes to youtube soon. Will be censored in Thailand and ignored everywhere else after a few art house cinema screenings.

  • Too much for the mainstream stuff.

There are so many other dimensions in one movie that you can explore.

This is a strong example of how all gates to those dimensions are open, and they don't force you into any fixed perceptions!

  • I want to see this movie! Does anyone where to download it???

  • @You94ssef same here! been searching everywhere for it, :(

  • This film just won the top honor at Cannes (Palme d'Or).

  • congrats from France, this film looks so hunted ...i'm going to run to see it ...BRAVO

  • This looks interesting. Especially since it won the Palm d'Or last night although it wans't the most stellar of festivals.. I wouldn't think it's as good as last year's White Ribbon from this trailer but one must watch the film first before drawing conclusions...

  • congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Congratulation!

  • Congrats ka....

  • @vtechyper maybe you should just watch the actual movie before you judge. thais are talented people. open up your mind...

  • hope the movie is better than the trailer.

  • Golden Palm!

  • Congratulatioooooooooooooons forr "La palm d'or :))

  • Interesting that American Trade Journals such as 'Variety' and 'The Hollywood Reporter' disparaged both this and Malady, yet Malady went on to recieve the Jury Prize at Cannes in 2004, and this, as we see, has won the Palme D'Or.

  • @neilbahadur1 agreed...

  • Interesting that American Trade Journals such as 'Variety' and 'The Hollywood Reporter' disparaged both this and Malady, yet Malady went on to recieve the Jury Prize at Cannes in 2004, and now this, as we see, has won the Palme D'Or.

  • Bringing genuine awe back into the cinema. Glad Weerasethakul is finally getting recgonition, in the west at least. I've only recently seen Blissfully Yours and Tropical Malady, but I've been blown away by them both and I can't wait to see this one.
