this way is way way way to long..... cut thru the tail but leave it attach with a bit of skin flip the squiirel over and step on the tail/skintag and lift up on hind legs this will instantly skin your whole squirrel in under 15 seconds the whole gutting skinning process takes less than 60 seconds maybe at most 80 seconds
The method you describe is one that I will try on my next occasion. I salvage the tails for fly tieing and others report that they get a dollar each for northern squirrels with good fur which would require skinning from the stomach out, as you would a big-game animal, I would suppose.
Interesting way you went about processing your squirrel Sir.. I was always taught to slice through the tail and bone, and use that as the handle for skinning them.. You placed your foot on the hind legs and pulled upwards removing all but the skin from the hindlegs.. Made for easier skinning... Thanks for the Post !! I too enjoy using a 32 once in a while for hunting.. Great little gun !!
Good tip. I'll try it on the next ones I take.

I have had people who had never eaten squirrels say that it did most resemble chicken, but it does have a flavor all its own.
