  • "On August 26 1974, Rush played at the Agora Theatre and Ballroom in Cleveland, Ohio. The performance was the band's first recorded with drummer Neil Peart, who had joined the band on July 29, 1974, approximately one month prior to this recording. The concert was recorded live for the local FM station, WMMS, and was later released unofficially as The Fifth Order of Angels." -and later as "ABC 1974".

  • I miss you....all of you.

  • Yeah this is before the first album, so definitely not Neil. Though I do have to say this is some of the best Rutsey drumming ever. Good stuff.

  • LOL! I love Geddy's shirt. Disco Sucks...

  • Whoa, Geddy sounds like Dave Mustaine on this one.

  • It's not Neil on the drums. They didn't know him then. They met a couple of weeks before a tour for their first album which was released in 1974. Fly By Night was their second album, first with Neil, and was released in 1975. The drummer is the original, the late John Rutsey. He too, was a damn good drummer.

  • Neil all the way...classic snare fills...double bass fills...Riyadh wasn't as fast with the hands as this recording.

  • That is without a doubt Neil on the kit...rutsey never showed any kind of hand speed like what's played on this recording. Listen to the rolls as the song progresses along with the combination double base with triplet floor time...signature Neil...not sure anyone on li.e can prove recording date...all just speculation.

  • Awesome jam!!!! love it!!!!

  • The post clearly said 1973.

  • Geddy has great taste in shirts!

  • Oh Fancy Dancer now Can't you see....

  • Oh my GOODNESS. Thank you so much for posting this song. I saw "Rush: Beyond The Lighted Stage" and was ready to break numerous laws in order to get this song, but it's right here! Thank you!

  • im 99% sure this is in there movie

  • @nickthecomedian Yes, it is. I was wondering the same thing!

  • It's definitely Neil. They played this a bunch of times on their first tour w. Neil and The Fifth Order of Angels boot is from 8/26/74 like ditoliaferro said. Trust me.

  • Great stuff Rush should release a record of all rare & B-sides they have enough tracks lying around in the vaults open it up!!!

  • This is Neil on drums. It's the 8/26/74 show at the Agora Ballroom, Cleveland, OH show that was broadcast on the radio. They included this song in their setlist.

  • @guppypup ur retarded, this was played before their first album came out and they got neil shortly after their opening of their first album. this john rutsey.

  • @RubixTutorial01 Just by listening to it I think it is John. Neil is so much smoother and john was not as refined. This is apparent on this sound track. My opinion

  • @cappellifiore ya thats what i said, its john

  • @RubixTutorial01 Sh!t I should of sent to Guppypup. I agree with you. Peace

  • @RubixTutorial01 It's Neil. I have the bootleg from August of 1974 and this is it.

  • @guppypup oh rally? k srry it just sounds too simple for neil lol

  • @RubixTutorial01 As guppypup said, Neil is definitely on drums here. The Agora Ballroom show was Neil's first recording with the band. If you examine the history of Rush you'd see that John left the band on July 25th, 1974, and this performance was recorded on August 26th of the same year. Neil only joined the band 4 days after John left (on July 29th). Thusly, it could only have been Neil here. The bootleg of this show was unofficially released as "The Fifth Order of Angels", look it up kid.

  • Thanks and Tru - so wen was this recording from?

  • Trying to bring the boys here..Who's coming?!?

Search Rush in Israel 2011? on FB

  • K but if U listen to the Cool drum fills at 2:30 and 3:15, it sounds like they can only be done with double kick, which I don't think JOhn played, so I think it has to be Neil cause he did some cool double kick stuff

  • @amadrummerr this is john, its a high school concert. niel didnt join till 74

  • Si this Neil or john on Drums?

  • @amadrummerr Pretty sure it's john cuz this is from when they were in High School

  • i want a neil peart mustache but then again a 14 year old with curly hair and 5'2 with acne probly not good looking hehe

  • Why are some of the most kick-ass Rush songs unreleased (ex: Fancy Dancer, garden road, etc.)

  • Neil looks like a Canadian John Bonham with that mustache

  • Why was this never released?!?!?

  • disco sucks!!! love tht shirt

  • this is featured in beyond the lighted stage

  • Rash shirt feelings sweat spots show thru my bubba-que

  • Should have used pics with John not Neil, this song was before Neil was in the band.

  • SWEEEETTTT!

  • It would be great to hear Rush play this live again, but nobody would really know this song. Well, unless that is you were hanging around with Rush in High School.

  • God I miss Ged's power vocals. The aggression is still there in their music but his voice is wayyy too mellow anymore. Too many years of the roof raising screams does it to ya I guess :P

  • tell me the date of this recording, if it is from the 1974 tour, I may have it.

  • Totally awesome!

  • Hey guys check out our band Panacea. We are heavily influenced by Rush. Please subscribe and we accept ALL friend requests. We already have a few videos out there.
