Ricky Henderson is the best lead off hitter of all time, Rice should of already been in the Hall of Fame, and its a shame that Dawson hasn't made it in yet but I'm glad to see McGwire still only got 25% of the vote. He should still make it someday. The Hall of fame still needs heels and villains. Not all good players are good guys. Pete Rose should be in too along with the Chicago Black Sox.
please provide a supporting argument as to why Jim Rice should NOT be in or have been in a long time ago. I am a Texas Rangers fan, so i'm as unbiased as it gets. Although i think Jim Sundberg should be considered.
He's worthy. He was the most feared hitter of his generation. He was the last man to reach 400 total bases in a season. He was top 5 in MVP voting 6 times. It's a crime that it took so long.
the only reason you'd think he's worthy is if you're a stinkin' red sox fan. the voters don't look at total bases. they look at what city you played in. it's called BOSTON BIAS and it's revolting. there's a reason he got rejected his first FOURTEEN tries.
that's what i thought. another idiot. if it's boston bias, then he would've gotten in on the first ballot. that makes no sense. take a look at his home / road splits, and your 'he hit like shit on the road' argument doesn't fly. you're probably only about 17 years old and never heard of Jim Rice before yesterday. Go listen to your ipod daddy bought you and watch Zach and Cody reruns on the Disney channel.
don't be a goddamn moron, you disgustingly biased boston shill. IT WAS THE BOSTON BIAS THAT GOT HIM IN. IT WAS THE SENTIMENTALITY. PAY ATTENTION. he'd failed to get in his first FOURTEEN tries, in case you weren't aware of that, so the voters said HELL, we'll put him in because those bitchy boston fans keep rattling their cages every fucking year. so shove that shit right back up your butt. i'm not buying it and millions of others aren't either. and i'm NOT a yankee fan if you were wondering.
well, you fucking dumb ass, if you knew anything about Jim Rice, you'd know he was the biggest media pariah this side of Steve Carlton. So, the question remains, if it's Boston bias, then why did it take so long for him to get in? For the record, i give a fuck about the boston red sox, celtics, bruins, patriots, breakers (usfl, dick head), braves, bees, marathon, tea party or anything else having to do with boston. as i said, i'm a texas rangers fan. wont be the first time we lost players.
and another thing. since you seem so sympathetic to the boston cause, get ready to be annoyed, if in fact you really give half a flying shit about baseball at all. the red sox are going to take your catching prospects to replace varitek. and they'll saddle you with some mongoloid like buchholz. so get ready to say BUH BYE to your prized prospects for some middling pitcher or two.
History is on Dawson's side, especially since people like Rice, Sutter, Gossage, and company were elected the year after getting the highest votes among non-inductees.
You're obviously a goddamn yankee fan who doesn't know shit about baseball. Let me guess: you think they're going to magically win it all despite returning the same old lineup (a year older now). You replaced two big bats with just one. You're stuck with mediocre Melky and you're paying Burnett to live on the DL.

People are out of their minds if they don't think Jim Rice deserves to be a part of the HOF. Best 3 year stretch, ever ('77-'79)!

Hey dumbfuck, I thought Gossage belonged in the Hall and I despise the Yankees. You just don't think Rice belonged because you hate the Sox.

You must support a hopeless club like the Nats or something. At least the Sox aren't acting desperate.
