Is this the moment that Batman cut ties with the Justice League? We know how he left Batgirl, Nightwing and Robin but I can't remember if they ever told why he left the Justice League
@Adamgontierfan19 No, this isn't the moment. I can't remember when it happened, but the Justice League was becoming corrupt by the government and when Lucius (I think...) got kidnapped, they couldn't save him because they were forbidden from entering a country, so Bats quit to go save Lucius. I believe that's what happened, but I'm not 100% sure.
Batman is the hero the justice league deserves, but not the one it will always need. Because he's not a hero. He's a silent guardian. A watchful protector. A Dark Knight
I have a challenge. Can anyone imagine a character that would actually make a suitable wife for batman? It would seem difficult since pain is such a huge part of his character.
The point is that he's too emtionally damaged and would likely ruin it somehow. Only way to not do so would be to go through some major changes that would effectively not make him the baman we know and love, which wouldn't be tolerated in the comics. What kind of woman could he be with without loosing his obsession?
@NoTrueFace1 If he knew that the city/world was in good hands thanks to his successors/apprentices/sidekicks/kids, he'd ease up on his obsession and settle down with Catwoman or Talia, IMO. Even if he did settle down, he'd find a way to still fight crime; the Golden Age/Earth 2 Batman became commissioner of Gotham City while still being Batman part-time, for instance. However, realistically speaking, he'd most likely end up as the Batman Beyond incarnation due to his stubbornness.
The only woman who might work is one who is as obsessed with an ideal as Bruce Wayne is. Probably the same ideal, for similar reasons and as selfless and bound by her convictions. She would probably be a female reflection of him, who gives him something he needs while not affecting the side of him that seeks justice so intently. She might be able to be a part of the Batman's world, but not a partner I suspect. Human, able to handle herself and accept that the mission is first.
@NoTrueFace1 The one that seems to come up most often is Catwoman (Selina Kyle). On Earth-Two (Pre-Crisis), Batman married Catwoman, had a daughter named Helena, and they had a very happy life together. Sadly, tragedy struck and Selina died due to the actions of a former member of her gang.
@PolarBearRepublic she does not 'kill' anybody. she drives them insane. there is a difference. how is that overpowered? superman can hold a black hole in his hand, flash can run at the speed of light, wonder woman has a magic sword sharp enough to cut through atomic bonds, and you call mind control over powered?
Can someone tell me what episode this is? I've seen the Justice L episode where the gang is working for Joker but I never knew what happened to Ace. If someone knows what this ep is called please let me know. Truly heart warming, and heart breaking as well.
batman is the most bamf in the history of the world. i mean he doesn't even have super powers, yet he's a member of the justice league. Batman is the definition of hero, superman, wonder woman and the rest of the jusitce league hail in comparison.
i told my sister that I cried when I saw this episode and she didn't think that I was telling the truth or I was a major drama queen...now she's crying. :) lol
I love that! 1:34 No Hesitation. No thinking about it for even a second he just walks over, sits right next to his enemy, and holds her hand in her dying moments. The man I want to be.
I am begining to see why people like these characters like Ace. Many of us didn't have much of a childhood, so we can associate. THough I really wish the comic designers would stop having little girls running around without any pants. That's creepy in a new way.
This is why I can't bring myself to fully trust the military... Although the chances are slime to none, they would do that a person if they had such a gift... Strip them on their individuality and make them into a weapon for their own uses... In poor Ace's case, it had cost her her childhood and her very life in the end.
This is why the cartoons of today can't measure up to those from the 80s and 90s. It took a little under 150 seconds, but this is already better than just about everything that comes out nowadays.
Batman Beyond's Ace (the Bat Hound) is a double homage. In addition to the homage to the Golden Age Ace the Bat Hound, you now realize that Bruce named his dog after Ace (the Royal Flush member from JL/JLU) in the DCAU. The realization of this retcon has made you smile.
Batman is just one of few heroes that can do this. Every other hero was taught to do good while going through their childhood, growing up with family and such, with people to love....Batman however was robbed of that by a crook with a gun....something that only few could ever experience, even fewer Heroes...so Batman knows the pain of losing the childhood. Indeed, Batman is a great hero to be in the Justice League through his experience.
@Bloodelf003 she was going to die from a brain aneurysm and the psychic backlash caused in the aftermath of her death would of killed millions around her but since batman (being the epic hero that he is) treated her with kindness, she was able to die peacefully without anybody being harmed
Is there an actual episode where Ace dies or is it purely a flashback in the episode where Terry finds out Bruce is his dad? Please please answer I've looked for it for months. Cheers.
This moment is so sad. Such a great performance in animation and voice acting.
There are only 2 episodes with Ace. The first one where her powers are revealed and she was working with the Joker and this episode which is just in flashback form to demonstrate Batman's character.
And so the world is saved, not from fighting, not from violence, but from an act of kindness and understanding. This little moment was beautiful in that it showed how much of a human being BATMAN is, if only this world had superheroes.
So there was no episode it was just an animation for the episode Epilouge, please answer because I've been looking for the full episode and can't find it?
"Some people view Batman as a damaged individual. As an individual who is still playing out his childhood tragedies. I don't find that a very compelling interpretation. Cause that doesn't make him a hero. I find it compelling the interpretation that here is a man who went through tragedy and he made the choice to rise above it. He made some choices to improve himself and improve the world. That is what makes Batman such a compelling hero."- Prof. Benjamin Karney of UCLA
Heartless men don't save live.Heartless men don't care for everyone, criminal or not. Heartless men don't fight for injustice when they have everytihng they could ever need or what. Brucie is what he could have been, Batman is what he need to be, Bruce is who he really is
Bruce Wayne has everything a mortal man could want. Money, fame, women yet he doesn't want that. He want justice, for everyone. If he were as cold as he appeared, then why does he do what he does? Why does he love till his heart is ready to bursh with pain? There is more that Batman to Bruce Wayne.... He isn't perfect but he's damn close.
That's why Batman's the best. It's not because he's the smartest, not because he's the most powerful, not because he is the strongest, not even because his past is the most tragic. Batman is simply the best because he is Batman.
Actually "Epilogue" is the season finale of the first season of JLU yeas after the last Batman Beyond episode. But the episode itself has much more to do with Batman Beyond and can be indeed seen as final conclusion of this series, the justice league only has brief appearances.
This is really sad.. Iv'e never seen this episode before and honestly Iv'e never even heard of Ace until I realized that Hynden Walch voiced her (I love Hynden! :D) Can anyone tell me where I can find this whole episode and watch it.. and some other ones where Ace is in too? Thanks! This really made me want to find out more about Ace :D she looks like an awesome character..
Would anyone please know were to find the whole episode (justice league unlimited:epilogue)? I really want to see ace's royal flush gang in action, but I'm not finding any
One of the best, and most heartbreaking, moments in the entire run of the Animated DC Universe. Ace is a truly tragic character, one who never had much of a chance for any kind of happy life (or any kind of life at all). It is likely that Batman showed her the only kindness she ever received in her entire life. I agree with others that Batman is one of the few heroes who could have reached out to Ace in this way.
well, unlike the rest of the justice league that decided to become superheroes on a whim, batman became what he is because of what happened to him as a child. hes the only one who actually understands ace because he went through something similar.
@Solitaire001 a child, forced to become an adult too early, forced to become a living weapon. whoever started this cruelty should be severely punished beyond what the law allows
Superman is the greatest hero of all time. but Batman is the greatest savior. everyone in the public eye sees what superman does, but he couldnt do this. no one cloud have. Batman is more then a hero, hes a Legend.
have you read Superman: Red Son? Batman totally freaks him out in that. It's about what would happen if Superman landed in Russia, not The US, and he's obsessed with communism. It's weird, but cool.
That is true I must agree. Some might argue that he lived his whole life as a human, but he is not part humanity. Humanities history is not his history.
Batman is the very definition restraint through conviction. Yeah he will kick a bad guys a*s but he will never kill them. He doesn't have super powers but uses his mind to find a way out of the worst situations.
Fav episode is when Batman was capture all alone by the legion of doom... and he out smarted all of them while he was chained up lol!
This is from Justice League Unlimited, not the Batman TAS. Same universe, just...later. A lot later, especially when the story is done. And even if it wasn't JLU, it would be Batman Beyond, seeing as this episode was meant to actually end THAT series.
Changing the subject, Ace just needs a nice, long hug!
Can anyone tell me who Ace is? My friend saw a video with her in it, and now she really wants to know. I can barely find anything online about it, so i figured I would ask people who knew who she was.
don't think any hero would have the heart to handle this situation so well other then batman, he understands sorrow better then anyone. Thats why hes the worlds greatest hero.
Very Sad : (

@Theprav Keep in mind, Batman always keeps a slab of kryptonite in his belt in case Superman gets out of control.

@Theprav But Superman doesn't even have courage.
