metallica to this day is still one of the best live bands you can see, I agree with that. their sound is massive, their riffs are legendary, but favorite vocal performance for james was the justice album by far, and he just doesn't sound like that anymore, he's missing something the bite is gone..many tracks on justice were put together piece by piece in the studio, separate from each other on multiple takes, that's why that album sounds so perfect its almost mechanical.

For me, this is a shitty performance, no double bass as it should be, poor guitar solo. Metallica is one of the gratest thrash/metal bands ever, but you can see Megadeth, Slayer or Kreator, and they keep playing as good as it should be! Same speed, same power. Just look at the Death Magnetic disc and compare it with Kill em' All,.. and then listen to Slayer's World Painted Blood, or Megadeth's EndGame and do the same... compare the discs!

Yes it is true that no one seems to want to forgive metallica for stuff like load reload and st. anger (even though at least load/reload where absolutely badass) when other like-minded bands get away with exactly the same if not even worse stuff. For example Megadeth never gets shit for cryptic writings and risk when these albums are clearly more mellow and overall different that the original hardcore thrash style.

For me, this is a shitty performance, no double bass as it should be, poor guitar solo. Metallica is one of the gratest thrash/metal bands ever, but you can see Megadeth, Slayer or Kreator, and they keep playing as good as it should be! Same speed, same power. Just look at the Death Magnetic disc and compare it with Kill em' All,.. and then listen to Slayer's World Painted Blood, or Megadeth's EndGame and do the same... compare the discs!

Why is it that on pretty much every Metallica vid on here that someone moans about them not being like they used to be. People change, they grow, they try different things. At least they've tried pushing a little, they may have failed at times, but at least they tried, unlike some of the others. Just because they're not that little band you carried around in your pocket back in '86 doesn't mean they are now shit. Move on, the rest of the world has.

I see a double bass drum sitting there...and Lars is kicking ass on a stripped down kit. That shows the true talent. My question is, how come Metallica is the ONE band that people refuse to forgive? They are making a hell of a comeback effort. It takes timet to get back on top again. Every other band out there has had a lag in their carrer, and redefined themselves with open arms from fans. But Metallica, nobody gives a chance anymore. Why?

Yes it is true that no one seems to want to forgive metallica for stuff like load reload and st. anger (even though at least load/reload where absolutely badass) when other like-minded bands get away with exactly the same if not even worse stuff. For example Megadeth never gets shit for cryptic writings and risk when these albums are clearly more mellow and overall different that the original hardcore thrash style.

I wasn't so happy with the load/reload/ time, but saint anger was a step in the right direction.
death magnet is a milestone in metallica's discography. For me, they are back as they were never gone.
And it is great to see, they still dig out this wonderful song... always loved it!

@journeyman2112 I am probably going to end up fueling the fire between Metallica/Megadeth fans, but I don't care. Metallica is the most successful band in terms of record sales and their ability to reach a mass audience--whether or not they are the most technically gifted of the Big Four is debateable, but they have a songwriting talent the others lack. I'm pretty sure most people don't care about Metallica's transgressions, but a lot of Internet nerds like to take shots at the guys on top.
