@incidentalist I will agree with that FOR SURE! I saw my first SCI show on 4/19/2002 at Boutwell Auditorium in Birmingham, Alabama. And after close to 30 SCI shows from 2002-2006, that 4/19/2002 show is still probably my favorite. It could absolutely be packaged and sold commercially as a live SCI show. It's got such a great set list in an amazing order with some of the tightest playing I've EVER seen or heard from these guys. Each one of them is ON FIRE. archive.org it if you haven't heard it.
I dig the Cheese (they are top notch musicians) however my main issue is and has always been that even with 5 members (and eventually a 6th) they always sound a bit thin... they go to some very interesting and welcomed spaces in their jams... but a lot of the time it seems to be missing that sonic soup quality... just my opinion.
@incidentalist Although I disagree that Jason "blows", I do agree that his addition to the band was definitely unnecessary. That was a huge thing that made SCI so cool and unique to me and many others, was the fact that if you hadn't seen them live before or didn't know how many members the band was composed of, you'd think that they had a full time percussionist. Travis doing all of that at once while still holding a heavy pocket groove was an amazing sight to see.
@poma54564 No, Keith has used Modulus Genesis 5 basses when Ryan was still in diapers. ;-) I only knew Ryan to play Genesis basses for a short time, Then he switch to Lakland 55-94's. Keith has had Lakland's for just as long, but did really start using them full time until the last few years of cheese.
Kang on fiddle rules. This band was so sick in 99 > 2001. Wish the video would stick with footage of the musicians. Heck, I would pay money to see all 25 minutes of Travis. The guy is a machine.
@Amstaffs4Life yeah, lots of people do. Michael Travis was one of if not the single best drummer in the late 90s and the man still stands his ground today. He and Jason make a great duo on the percussion these days, can't wait for next weekend!
My amazing, amazing friends banded together to get me from Austin to Red Rocks...haven't been able to see them since the incredible RR finale '07...thank you Cheesus! I need an Incident in the biggest way!!!!

Has anyone considered this drummer as one of the greatest? I would support that idea.

I agree. I think it's the jazzy, funky style from 98-01 that made it so special.
