I worked the 2000 census; getting hispanic people to respond is quite hard because they think census takers are fronts for the INS so they never want to say exactly how many people live there. If this telanovela can help that it is great, and we'll see a dramatic rise in reported hispanic population that accurately reflects the real population

It's not like the soaps' audience is unaware. There are magazines devoted to soaps, and many morning news and talk shows have segments about the soaps.

Not in your wildest dreams! The Feds have had since 1986 to secure the border and enforce immigration law! So far they have refused to do anything meaningful! They will use the money for education, medical and more public services to keep up withe population explosion illegal immigration causes. the only solution to the Feds is Amnesty and no borders!

The biggest problem I have is that there's no way to secure the border. That sillyassed fence everyone talks about can be cut or dug underneath.

Me, I think the Rio Grande should be dug out and widened, like the Panama Canal, except with concrete sides and bottom. It would be much wider, therefore harder to cross, and straighter, making security cameras more efficient.

That all depends on how it plays out in the telenovela. there could be an undertone of sarcasm or something, but either way it seems childish. This is reminiscent of those childhood GI Joe PSAs, only instead of for kids, its for adults

I picture Lou in the 1950s chasing down cars on their way to the polls if they have black passengers and then trying to intimidate them before voting. That is the ONLY reason these right-wing nutjobs are against the census... because it will count the growing non-which population... proof that whites, like Lou, are becoming a minority soon.

Illegal Residents should not be counted! They should be deported. They can not vote and many do not pay taxes therefor they should not be represented in congress. States that harbor illegal aliens in violation of federal law should not receive federal money. Using racism as the reason that people don't want illegals counted is an old worn out lame ass excuse. it's a felony to enter the USA without proper inspection!
