  • It's used that same recording for decades. My friend had a laughing bag 40 years ago, and it had that exact recording. Still makes me laugh.

  • Mike Mozart*

  • Thats the voice they gave that creepy baby laugh a lot in a rocking chair doll from thet mize mozart reviews!

    D:

  • lol

  • that laugh, they put it in that fready baby laugh's alot doll...check out the mike mozart video on it ITS TRUE!!! Thumps up so people can see please?

  • Oh god... my grandmother has one of these. And I always bump it whenever I try to get Parcheesi out of the dresser.

  • Memories indeed! Glad I kept my original! Mint, although I haven't put a battery in it in quite sometime. ;-)

  • If anyone Knows wher to find one of these. (original) could you please e-mail me

  • Does the mini record on this one have a woman's laugh on the other side? Any chance of a video of this as well?

  • Would anyone out there have a genuine 1970's Bag Of Laughs like the one above? I don't want one of the cheap modern reproductions. It is for a sculpture that I am about to build, and doesn't even need to have the bag, just the mechanism from inside. If you have one (or know someone that does), and are willing to sell it, please send me a PM, that would be most helpful. Cheers, Brett.

  • @MechanicalSculptor

    this is absolutely great

    brings back the memories

of all the things we all should have kept in the attic,it could have been a bag of laughs

  • We had one in the 70's when I was a kid. Must have played it MILLIONS of times! Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

  • I bought mine in a joke shop in Bangor (county down) in the hot summer of 1976 when on holiday there. Oh it's a lifetime ago. I live in Bangor now :-)

  • I used to have one too back in the 80's...i got batteries for it and put them in inside the shop, and it started LAUGHING...god that was embarresing but so fun :D

  • Just bought on at a toy store for four dollars!

  • I first saw this around 1970. I think that's about when it first came on the market. We took one apart to prove to ourselves that there was a record player at its core. There was. A battery operated motor, a spinning, grooved disk and a plastic cone with a sharp little plastic needle that traveled in the grove. The sound went straight from the needle resonating to the cone. There was no electronic speaker. When you released the "Play" lever, the needle reset itself. "Make It Simple, Stupid"

  • @satweavers I also took mine to bits and discovered the little record inside. When I turned the record over and pressed play a birdsong came out!

  • Thanks so much for this! I had the same one as a kid. I've been looking all over for an audio clip of the entire original laugh.

  • I still have an original one from 1976. It still works. I miss those old mini-record-player ones. The newer electronic ones are lame.

  • Hey, Where did you find this bag? this is the one I want(the original), but the only one I have been able to find on sites is the newer version, which has a laughing face on it and a nose button which produces the laugh sound(it is essentially the same laugh, but shortened).

  • Oh that brings back memories :-) Thanks for posting that! I had one when I was a kid in the early 80s. I showed this to my kids...they got a bang out of it :-)
