I sugest that you get good on the horn first then try and switch. Don't stop playing the horn though. I play both but i started on trumpet first so my range on horn is more than most strict horn players are.

topplayer100 i play the french horn to and i am switchen to trumpet this summer...and i am like in my 3rd year playen the french horn..which i am still gonna take lessons in the summer and then the trumpet i will take lessons and play it in the school band...so yea...my suggestions are 1. don't quit playen the french horn...cause my mom told me that some french horn players that are really really, really, good i mean really really good they can get lots of money

I've got a 20 year old Bach Strad, it's a really good trumpet but I need to know what to get when it packs in :S

For playing for two hours... not bad. SUGGESTION: Play at incriments of 50 minutes, then a 20 minute break. Then back at it. Suffice yourself with a lot of water.

Don't try upper range stuff unless you're able to do so with good tone. Also, before quitting and putting the trumpet away, do a warm down. Start on a low C(below staff) and chromatic down to low F# then to pedal tones to lossen and relieve your chops.

It's all about breath control, so study breathing exercises with counts so you can monitor your control. Imagine you are singing through your instrument, and imagine you have an egg on the back of your tongue.

nah i dont own a quality horn anymore this horn is some 100 dollar shit brand horn.. i got it at a pawn shop. but i try to make it sound alright

That still doesn't give you an excuse to sound wrong/right. I started with the professional crappiest instruments you can name of in piano/trombone and violin and I can tell you it depends more on your skill than on what you have. Good job on thinking not to range it to the high F online but aside from that this video has a nice tone comming out of it. transition needs to be kept to spacing each note.

If you need to edit the sound of the webcam when it gets to loud, use Audacity (freeware for audio recording). 3:24 LOL man I so many mistakes (Trombone remember? I know what your playing ;P). Keep on practicing, its the only way to get better ;)

hmmm that was good:] ive been playing trumpet for about 2 yrs but umm just because you've been playing for 3 hours doesnt mean ur "chops" hurt,,,that just means u need to practice more to get your face muscles to get used to it,,,but u were pretty good:]

Actually 3 hrs of straight playing can hurt. When you just start out you dont realize it because your muscles aren't really doing what they really should be doing, and when you're new at it you aren't really thinking about the pain, so getting tired doesn't affect you as much.

Work on your endurance. I played 3 hours striaght for 1 week and still had chops for good sounding E's and F's. Carmine Caruso exersices.
