  • Cool!

  • the civil war was a war of greed. i think Union soldiers were evil because they tortured and murdered alot of innocent southern folk. but it was wrong for the confederate to seperate from the US and try to make their own money but the Union were kinda evil and were jealous of the confederate to make there own money. the ONLY person in the Union that was not greedy was Aberham Lincoln. he keeped our country together and i give thanks to him for that. god bless america

  • @lou0kang

The union did not in fact torture & murder a lot of innocent sourthern folk, there was much collateral damage in battles & most of those were in the south, so civilians did die - but even Sherman's bummers were looters almost exclusively, there were almost no rapes or other atrocities committed, just mass destruction of property -- read the civil war histories by Bruce Catton & Shelby Foote, those guys did a lot of research - bad things happened, but not the way you're putting it

  • @SupernalOne yes there were murders a torters

  • @SupernalOne yes there were murders a torturs

  • @lou0kang

I'd think that would have happened more towards the end of the war, when Sheridan was fighting partisan rangers in the Shenandoah Valley, and when the Union armies were so depleted that thugs and criminals were drafted to fill the ranks -

Oh, and when the Jayhawkers and Quantirill's forces were raiding in Missouri and Kansas - a lot of atrocity there, it's true -

  • @SupernalOne yup

  • @SupernalOne ya

  • @lou0kang What the Hell are you talking about? Union soldiers and officers fought like gentleman. When ever we confiscated property we gave compensation

  • @markmason1000 well a war is a war, union soldiers riding into town killing families and childern and women. im not sayin all union soilders are bad but there was a portion of union soldiers who did some pretty grusome things thats how war is man

  • @lou0kang okay name an example of Union soldiers killing men women and children not inspired by Hollywood

  • @markmason1000 Union armies were so depleted that thugs and criminals were drafted to fill the ranks and were raiding in Missouri and Kansas a lot of atrocity there. dude its a war not all soldiers are going to be hero's, there were always some criminals in the Union army.

  • @lou0kang very few and most of the time if they were caught they were punished

  • @markmason1000 osceola mo by kansas jayhawkers

  • @robh64 thats nothing compared to the Burning of Lawrence by the Bushwackers

  • @markmason1000 in almost direct retaliation for this and the maining and deaths of their wifes and sisters in kansas city. osceola was first, done by Jim Lane, the came to lawrence after them

  • @robh64 that doesnt justify it

  • @markmason1000 you mean if someone comes over to your state, burns down your town, kills your neighbors and rapes, steals doesnt merit justice?

  • @robh64 It doesnt mean kill three times the amount of unarmed men women and children and then set the town on fire

  • @markmason1000 only men were killed in retaliation, these were southerners, the cowardly jim lane hid in a cornfield. later he committed suicide over the atrocities he committed

  • @robh64 they were civilians and pro Union anti slavery Kansans not southerners,In Osceola only nine people were put up against the wall you killed close to 170 men and young boys.Does that do justice to their deaths? Quantril wasn't a soldier he was a brute in uniform

  • @markmason1000 I meant the people killed in lawrence as retaliation for rapes, raiding , murder and mayhem done by the jayhawks were males. This number is less than the thousands the jayhawks had killed in four years of uncivil war. Oceola was just the first of 4 towns in that raid , they also pretty much wiped out western/central mo of inhabitants including jesse james father. Quantrll did what anyman would have done in those days

  • @robh64 Stuart or Custer never resorted to that.

  • i want to join a reenactment group were do i look or were are good places to look
