  • Cubans treated in Cuba 180 000 children from Ukraine after the Chernobyl explosion..FOR FREE (the program is still going strong). No one accept them cared. Israel took 160 Jewish children, and that would be it. Viva Cuba..Some day justice will triumph!

  • @sloco19 On of my best friends is Cuban, and he states that this is all a farce! He left Cuba for freedom.

  • This makes me want to cry. Cuba also has a great organic agricultural system where a large percentage of food is grown locally to where it is consumed. No wonder Bush won't let us visit Cuba. It would set off a revolution.

  • I've seen this film many times. It's great. Regarding Cuba's health care system, facts speak for themselves.

  • Hmmmm,,you Fud.I have many rebuttals but Fud fits the best.

  • Responding to a terribly inaccurate and biased ABC TV Report on Cuban health care (and indirectly to the bunch of malicious people posting misinformation about Cuba's unquestionable achievements in health care) a large group of most distinguished American doctors and healthcare professionals who have been to Cuba to work on many occasions, prepared an angry letter of rebuttal. EXCERPTS from the letter, marked ONE to SIX, hopefully appear below. Search for this in HuffingtonpostDOTcom.

  • ONE Cuba's health statistics are not "made up" by government officials to portray a false, glowing picture of public health.... The 20/20 piece dismisses the validity of statistics from the United Nations and the World Health Organization because they come from Cuban health officials, but Mr. Stossel fails to mention that this is how UN statistics are gathered from all countries.

  • TWO "Cuba's economic problems during the 1990s resulted in the physical deterioration of many of its hospitals. However, 52 of these hospitals are now undergoing needed repairs and remodeling. Although Mr. Moore and his 9/11 responders did go to one of the refurbished facilities, this hospital serves 156,000 people living in one of Havana's most overcrowded neighborhoods. It is not a hospital reserved for government elites or foreigners."

  • THREE "The claim that Cuban women are commonly subjected to forced abortions is patently false. By law, abortion in Cuba is accessible and free. But for years, abortion rates have been dropping, not climbing. When congenital malformations occur during pregnancy, women are informed of their options and permitted to make a personal decision, as they are in many other countries."

  • FOUR "In fact, entire facilities such as the Children's Heart Center in Havana and a national network of special schools are dedicated to children who are born with congenital problems. "When it comes to health care, Cuba manages to do a lot with a little, scoring comparably with the United States on many health indicators at a fraction of the cost."

  • FIVE "A Gallup Poll conducted last year revealed that 96 percent of Cuban citizens said they had regular access to health care, no matter who they were or what their income. We urge ABC NEWS to correct the false statements and impressions presented in Mr. Stossel's report."

  • SIX -- SIGNING THE MENTIONED LETTER: Peter G. Bourne, MD, MA - Chair, MEDICC Board of Directors .mediccDOTorg - Visiting Scholar at Green College, Oxford University. Alfred W. Brann Jr., MD - Professor of Pediatrics, Emory University School of Medicine Harry E. Douglas III, DPA (Retired) - former Executive Vice President and former Interim President, Charles Drew University of Medicine & Science. Chair, Board of Regents, Southern California University of Health Sciences AND MANY MORE

  • This crappy piece of Hitler's youth like totalitarian propaganda movie "Salud" is the one that's biased. Most likely financed by the Cuban government too. I didn't see any comments from doctors like Darsi Ferrer in Cuba there, nor di I see any hospitals for regular cubans.

  • 50 years of a totalitarian dictatorship, concentration camps like the UMAP, lack of freedoms of expression and religion, firing squads, the most per capita political prisoners in the world and an apartheid under which Cubans are not allowed to go to the elite hospitals, hotels and nice beaches in exchange for crappy clinics lacking medicines and doctors and sparing cockroaches, NO WAY, THANKS Michael!

  • The Cuban government exports doctors abroad as a propaganda tool and as a means to get cash in exchange for cheap (almost slave-like) labor without taking in consideration their shortage in the island. "Free health care" is misleading, the gov keeps more than 95 percent of the salaries and is the only employer allowed. Even doctors make less than 20 dollars a month. Cubans also have to do "voluntary work" in their spare time, forcefully attend gov marches and donate money to gov organizations.

  • Only those useful idiots who have never lived under a totalitarian dictatorship can believe Cuban government figures. The reality is there is a terrible apartheid like system where only the elite, paying foreigners and special interest fools like M Moore receive decent health care. Regular Cubans have to rely on medicines sent from their relatives in Miami, they are only allowed to go to crappy hospitals where they have to bring their own sheets, food and where hygiene is appalling.

  • @cubano1979

You are a gringo, not a cuban, you live in the USA, think as an americunt, that make you gringo, GRINGO, now got to eat a fatburguer to fill your filty lying americunt mouth, and go to reclaim your check with the CIA.

  • Personal attacks are typical of those who don't have valid arguments to discuss. Why the hatred? Why the envy?

  • Hitler's youth's propaganda videos were more entertaining than this joke. They send all these doctors and medicines abroad for propaganda purposes while my own family (regular cubans, not elite or foreign useful idiots) are lacking them both and are not allowed in the elite hospitals. They have to go to crumbling clinics lacking doctors where they have to provide their own sheets and food and they have to rely on medicines sent from Miami.

  • What a cheap piece of totalitarian propaganda! Is this a sick joke? Cuban nationals aren't even allowed in these hospitals, they are only for the elite, paying foreigners and special interest useful idiots like M Moore. Take a look at the hospitals for regular cubans in my profile or type therealcuba in google.

  • If Cuban health care is so great, then why did Castro have SPANISH doctors treat him?

  • because they wanted a second medical opinion (as millions of people in usa, canada and everywhere else)....spanish doctors were in cuba 24 hours..therefore they did not treat him (procedure which would be last a little more than that..don't you think?...)

  • I find your explanation ridiculous. Usually when you get a second opinion you go to another hospital not another country! It wouldn't be as ridiculous if Spain bordered Cuba as say Canada borders the US but c'mon, Spain? It's thousands of miles away for Gods sake.

  • Having been to Cuba I was amazed at the number of Graduates, however with the illegal embargo, opportunities are short an a job in a hotel is desirable for the tips

  • The embargo should be having no affect since, you know, communist share and share alike. That was the promise anyway.

  • Saludos,viva Cuba

  • Poor people to become Doctors. Wouldnt happen in the U.S.

  • Actually it happens all the time. You don't have to be rich to become a doctor. Come to North Philly and interview the doctors around here.
