Well sorta, but not really. The GTX 295 provides ~16 billion more textures/sec and 96 more Gigabytes/sec bandwidth than the 9800GX2. Then again, it depends on what game you are playing, and how demanding it is.

If you were to go to NewEgg, which is where I buy most of my products, you won't find the 9800GX2, but you will find the GTX 295 for ~ $500. And you can snatch a GTX 280 for ~$330.

So it really depends on how much performance you want vs. how much you want to pay.

The GTX 295 is a monster, don't get me wrong, but the 4870 X2's potential has yet to be unlocked. Sideport will give it 2 x 5GB/s lanes between the GPUs and 2 x 5GB/s lanes to the PCI-e 2.0 slot.

u can't compare the 4870x2 with the gtx295 just seeing the tech details of both cards...the 4870x2 has more stream proc but yet the 4870x2 and the gtx295 use differents built as the ram nvidia use the gddr3 for the bus speed ATi use the gddr5 for the bandwitch they are different built and u can't compare the cards on paper u need an ingame test. btw i know there is yet the PLX that will give more bandwitch between the 2 cores but u can compare that to a Xfire Link with just more coordination.
