  • I'm so amazed at your speed and now jealous! Although I'm a clarient player and don't know much about the flute except for the fact my best friend plays it :P

  • amazing

  • damn, this is really good

  • I love your take on this, with the added trills and such.

  • ,,, omg. i wanna play this..

  • Excellent.

But it does irritate me to read the posts by lazy people who ask 'can you send me the music'.

Jeez, it's never been easier to find such things.

Get yourselves in gear and do it.

    Sorry, rant over.

    Great playing.

  • the quality of sound is gorgeous!

  • wow, very good

  • soothing soothing and soothing:))!!

  • muuuuy bien!! congrats!!

  • omg beautiful (: can you send the sheet music if its off of internet? or any idea where i could get it ~?

  • @iMusicGasm Yes very good indeed ..presume not a prof player ...but great sound ....flute make / model?

  • Beautiful! I love your tone.

  • could you please send me this music???

and what make is your flute??

  • what is your flute?

Sometimes when I play I feel like my belly does not have enough strength. Maybe I should work on some abs. : )

  • OMG :o

You have an amazing tone!!!! i cant play that well lol do you know where i can get this sheet music from??? Thanks :)

  • Omg. I don't understand why people move so much when they play an instrument (particularly flute)!? I play flute, but I don't move so much.

Anyway, very good job. Where did you get the sheet music to this? And could you give it to me, please?

  • it has something to do with outblowers and inbreathers. inbreathers are verry relaxed while playing and outblowers arealways putting a lot of force behind and and realy dance with the flute. atleast iver found something like that in an recordersite. but indeed this guy moves a lot :p but he plays awefully good ^^

  • its gets the person more into the music. I know when i move i usually move to help strengthen a part ...its hard to explain, but for us who do it is natural. Great tone by the way it sounds so pretty. I'd love to know where you got the music.

  • thanks so im not the only one who does that XD

  • wow this is amazing! can I get the sheet music for this?

  • Comment removed

  • Beautifully done. I can only hope to be as good as you one day. Man, could you get me the sheet music? I'd love to try this piece out.

  • Bravo!! Fantastic flute plating!!

... but your eyes look like their going to pop out

  • can i get the music to this? = )

  • Awesome job, amazining tone, every note was defined perfectly.

  • can i have the music=)

  • HOLY SHIT. That's totally awesome tone man.

  • wow

  • congratulations , very very good !!!!!

  • Wow. Very nice. :-)

  • amazing!!! but you should try not to move so much and like sormu16 said go to a room with more reverb and move back a little

where did you learn to play?

  • also is there even one rest in this song besides 8th rests

  • OMG it looks like your eyes are about to pop out lol but thats ok. i look kinda weird to when i play the flute. lol so how many years have you been playing. I've only been playing for like 5 months and im 2nd chair symphony band

  • can i have this music? :D

  • Superb.

  • :] HOLY FREAKKK..ur better then me..AWESOMENESSSSSS

  • which sonata is this? i want to learn it for my cello

  • Great played! Fresh, in the spirit of the other great recordings I know. Cello (YYM) and guitar (Segovia).

Yes, the breathing makes more sound than usual, that is simply a recording issue, a matter of acoustique. Can be fixed by moving to a room with more reverb and moving the flute longer from the microphone.

  • awesome dude

  • u made my day-great playin man. keep rockin lol =)

  • Beautiful,Mark. Congratuations!

  • what peace is he playing??

  • One word..... AWESOME

  • wOw!!!you're really great!awesome playing!

  • anyone can tell me the name of the cello sonata from this is transcribed?

  • the breathing was a bit distracting, but in such a piece, I didn't mind it so much. I heard this same sonata performed by Yo Yo Ma on the cello, but your flute is much better in my opinion. (I'm a flutist myself though, so I'm a little biased.)

  • surprised no one out there has commented on the disturbing amount of bad breathing done in this performance & the distruption to phrases. Nice tone but breathe control poor

  • I think the reason he takes so many breaths is simply his interpretation of the piece. Also, as far as that type of breath, to get a well-projected sound on flute when playing in a fast tempo, you need to do that- I took lessons for a couple years from a flutist in a major orchestra, and he took breaths(and taught me to do so) very much like that when playing a faster piece: getting plenty of air very quickly, which does make a noticeable sound when you're close to the player.

  • sooooooooooo awesome

  • good

  • Thank you!

  • you shouldn't move around so much. :)

    You are very good.

  • it takes me to the heaven.. the voice of your instrument..

  • Your sound is very rich, sometime too punchy, though. Anyway, I think good flutists are all men, including you (because of its rich sound).

  • I can't say enough good. :)

  • *sighs*

    you are just amazing...

    i WISH i had your tone!!!! <3

  • who goes to henry larson Mr.Nolan ???????/ and knows him

  • Wow, that was great. I would probably pass out at the end. hehe.

  • wow... my brother's friend in 7th grade can play well, but i don't believe THAT well... I play flute as well, and i play well, (at least i hope so!) but i can't play as well as he does. I can't do the trill yet. :(

  • wow.. I like that, its very nice. Great Job.

  • amigo, me passa essa partitura por vafor

    quero tocar na flauta doce

    binhoservice @ gmail . com

  • although any breath will make some amount of noise.. the "gasp" sound comes mostly from not having your mouth and throat open enough to take in pleanty of air as well as not breathing from your diaphram.

  • GREAT sound by the way.. !!!!

  • You move like Ian anderson hahaha XD Good version of bach I like it.

  • wow ur realy good i play the flute too iam taking my grade 8 soon =] i wonder if u could tell me were u got the music from??

  • The fact that I can hear gasping when you breathe tells me that you're not getting enough air with each breath. That noise is resistance. Our best breaths that take in the most air should be nearly inaudible. Practice sucking in as much air as possible without making a sound. You'll be amazed. Also, when I breathe, I keep my lips in embouchure position so that I don't have to reset my embouchure with each breath, and am ready for each note.

  • But if you keep you embouchure all the time,

your lips/mouth will ache after a long time.

  • Not if we are in shape and have practiced our long tones every day for significant amounts of time. Hours. The best flutists play incredibly difficult music without even moving their mouth while they play. We can't completely let our embouchure go just to take a breath, it makes articulation very difficult. There shouldn't be much futzing around before we start a note.

  • I thought this was a lute piece?! Well, great on flute too, and well played.

  • Beautiful and perfect in everyway!

  • you should listen to bouree that ian anderson does , i think it is better, but he did a very well done, but yeah type ian anderson bouree, on youtube it is nice

  • cool man. i am a marimba player who plays bach and i am trying to breathe better during my phrases, and i'm trying to learn how to do that by watching flute players.

just thought you might like to know.

  • You NEED to give me lessons. I have been playing the flute for 7 1/2 years. SInce I was 5. I am not nearly as good as this. The dynamics of it all I can do, but i hesittate alot. Phooey... Well, I hope I can be as good as this one dayy.

  • I´ve listen to some of your videos, and I must say that you´re truly good on the flute! Bach can be hard sometimes, cause you have to "steal" air. I don´t know what he thought about when he wrote, but sureley not on the one who should play... haha! :-)

  • Piękne, gram na flecie poprzecznym, dostałem swoistego rodzaju obsesji na jego punkcie:P naprawdę bardzo dobre:)

  • this is really good. i play flute as well, have been for a while. the tone is truly ahmazing (that means he's a good player--most likely a natural--and he's playing on a good flute.) you should work on your breathing though. it will make your playing sound more musical. breath DEEP...through the diaphram, no shoulders.

  • Enviable performance and tone!

    Work on your dynamics, though.

Also, try improving your lung capacity with long tones. Looooooooooong tones, all the way up and down the full range every day. I usually do 12 beats per note at 60 bpm.

  • it's nice but keep working on the breath

  • Hey, VERY nice job. I play flute too, but DEFENENTLY not as good. Were working on the F flat scale right now :-/. It's so hard with all the naturals and flats. How did yo memorize those notes so good?!

  • you inspire me haha. i play guitar and trumpet and piano and anything else i can get my hands on, so i may try flute haha

  • i know a little bit. breathing tht hard a=can cause ur lungs to recieve less air while paying an instrument. doin wht hes doing is just making him worse. i play the saxophone if someone was wondering

  • violin is in C....is cello also?

I thought flutemark was pretty good.

don't be afraid to get your breaths in when playing flute, people, otherwise you'll have such a breathy , annoying, wimpy tone. You'll suck.

  • Thats sweet!!

  • Your breathing destroys everything. It's really really annoying. Except that, it's very beautiful

  • what do you suggest, that he not breath? this was very nice

  • he don't have to breathe so loud

  • Though you are correct that Mark's breathing needs work, I'd hardly call it destructive.

  • Very warm, rich sound. Well done!

  • your laptop loves your music...by the way this is the only one you got right...this =solo not a quartet...good job flutemark

  • Wow. I love your sound!

  • Hey chaps! This was writen for cello from the cello suites but Bach was happy to trascribe any melody to compliment other instruments...check Howard Harrisons excellent transposition of the entire 2 nd cello suite, transcribed for flute. Good job man good luck to you

  • I commend your effort, but it sounds too forced; and to me, it misses all the grace of a Bach song. Maybe its not meant for a flute.

  • if it isnt for flute then why is there sheet music?

  • Hey Krissy...it's called a transcription, and musicians often love to play music that wasn't originally written for our instrument. I have this in a book edited by Robert W Mois called, "20 Concert Studies" from the works of Bach, and it's available from Southern Music Company for about 10.00. It's full of works from Cello and Violin transcribed for flute.

  • post your version then we'll see if you comment stands or not.

  • Which comment is that? I hardly think I am going to learn a piece of music I wasn't planning on learning to prove a point to you, but if I do decide to work on it I'll let you know.

  • Overall: Distinction!

    Breathing: honors

  • Oh, my! I haven't been practicing! Very nice playing!

  • very nice sound!!!! but please breathe trough ooo no iii...

  • Hey Mark.Very nice job on a demanding piece

  • this wuz real kool..i love ur tonality..i want to know where you got this sheet music..i want to play it..i ave been playing on my own on the flute for 4 years..if u have any information on how i can get that sheet music..please let me know. thank you

    great work =)

  • Beautiful, tremendous thaks for the vid

P.S i love your Trill so smooth

  • Very nice, well done! You have a stable way of playing.

If you want to hear me play, look/listen at my space, raibowbridgew

    Warm greetings,

    Wendy

  • its very good. ive been playing for 3 years. im 1 of the best in the school im at and ur really good. where did u get the music? i wanna try to play it.

  • this is completely fantabulous no joke.

flute is easy to pick up, but hard to play well, and i give you major props!

playing for about 3 years, no where near your level.

your level of determination and skill inspires me

  • I'm trying to understand why you breathe where you do. You need to take deeper breaths--like a quick deep yawn. You're gasping for air and it's audibly distracting. I'd rather see you relax and take enough air to get through a phrase. Other than that I admire your tone, clarity and musicality.

  • nicely played gratz...

  • Lol your eyes look big at some parts XD

  • Very nice playing --well above the typical amateur level. Nice sound and breathing (in tempo). Good job!

  • Truly excellent.

Some breaths were a bit out of place but thats understandable since their are no rests ot breaks since it was originally written for cello.

  • wow.... that's all i can say.... speechless

  • I love this movement. I have the score for it and play it on the violin. You play it so nicely.

  • clap clap awesome

  • omg! that was awsome!

I've played the flute now for about 4 years now.

The solo I'm preforming in febuary is Aria by Engene Bozza

    Really though, this is spectacular

  • Simply stunning Bravo Mark, Bravo

  • Wonderful beautiful performance: captivating, motivating, gorgeous, unique, showing a performance spark ^_^

Your tone and vibrato is so lovely, and rich in tone colours that are very pleasing and sound like heaven for my ears. Suunds beautiful - Ever thought of recording a CD?

WHAT A GREAT PEICE TO PLAY.

The trills are so pure and performed great!

    KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!

  • very good. clap clap clap

  • I think he couldn't open their eyes a bit more because they could pop out.

  • Just delightful. You own Bach.

  • loving your trills the grace notes... you are amazing. great inspiration... i play the flute 2 years now... how long have you played?

  • That was amazing, I wish I could play like that.

  • dancing while planying an instrument can also lead to messed up tone and the audiance bein quite amused...haha

thats why i quit doing that....my first yeAR of flute playing, i was always breakdancing with the flute XD...my flute teacher was a bit disturbed i think

could you play hte bach sonata for flute in e minor? im playing that right now...its so nice...

  • Musicians move because they react naturally to the music that they play. To play musically is a life time pursue.

  • wow amazing!!! ive ben playing flute for like, 5 years now and still not as good as that!!

  • how come when i see people playing the flute.. they are very wiggly and they always move??what is the purpose of that?

  • haven't you noticed? wiggly things are inherently cute and more fun. see puppies for referance ;)

  • The note played at 1:24 is a wrong one! For the rest, you did an good job :)

  • Very nice, its very good. I have only been playing for just barely 3 years and have to play a song like that and it's really hard. You have an awesome tallent though!

  • woww.. very nice! I played that for a solo a few years ago on violin :) I also play flute though.

  • NICE, lol...get a mac!

  • nice but looks like if yours eyeballs were going to pop out.

  • omg

    Finally someone who doesn't fake

    JEETH!

I wish to be at your level.

Although, I've only been playing for two years.

But I'm the top in the top band at my school! =D

    I practice 90 minutes everynight. =D

  • Awsome. Why are most guys better at the flute than girls? It must be thoes big 'ol lungs. Lol! Enjoyed

  • its just cause us male flute players are tougherXD

  • virtually flawless! this was great, you have perfect tone and maintain the octave jumps, very nice!
