for shame on you! WE have lost our salmon runs where i live because of greed. You will too Norway is 30 years behind for conservation. its a shame because they still have a few large fish that will disappear one at a time like this one. and what kind of gear bait casting your country does deserve those magnificent fish
Yes, Norway has a problem regarding their wild salmon stocks. Mainly because of farmed fish, sea lice in the fjords, net fishing and the fishermens themself.
Salmon organisations, riverowners and the media has for years enlighted people, the government and the farmers on the subject.
@TheLargebomber Recent years there has been taken a lot of actions trying to preserve the wild salmon stocks in Norway. Such as stopping net fishing, introducing strict regulation in the rivers for fishermen, spawning count, closing rivers that dont have reached their spawning goal, fishing and closing for farmed fish in the rivers, research, monitoring some rivers weekly, not allowing to fish for female salmon, etc.etc.etc
@TheLargebomber Whenever there is a huge or grandios fish like this is killed there will always be negative comments. But I do not see such comments on smaller fish. Why is that?
Has a third time spawner more value for the river, then a first time or second time spawner?
And to inform you further. The fish beeing caught was a male salmon.
The watercourse has a sustainable salmon population, and the salmon was a male. Please follow our other films that show a high degree of catch and release on big salmons.
In late november 2008 we'll also release a teaser for our new flyfishing salmon movie. Places to visit are Alta, Stabburselva, Orkla and Gaula. There will be lots of action with big salmons.
