I personally think shredding is an overused technique. There are far too many people doing it. I just wanna learn how to play fast, I don't wanna know how to play a million notes a minute. It doesn't sound as good as playing with emotion. Emotion>speed.
Hey there, is it possible to pay for this in any other way than with a credit card? I can send the money via bank but I can't see that option in the site.
Hey there, is it possible to pay for this in any other way than with a credit card? I can send the money via bank but I can't see that option in the site.
@TaimMasheen Hi currently we can only accept Credit or debit card payment. When our new site launches we will be accepting PayPal - which will hopefully be this year!
This video set is the best!!!!! i have all 6 weeks and its been 1 day and im already on week two!! and im only 12! these are way better than private lessons, so easy to follow! thank you so much lick library!
I have a question. I can play at a reasonable speed (very Zeppelin-esque 70’s style fast). Realistically, how much will I improve in the 6 weeks? Will I be able to shred decently, and this video will give me things to practice?
@lifeisgudd If you feel comfortable using your own finger pattern then do so, stretching your fingers will help improve your playing when it comes to playing other patterns, but of course if its not possible and your getting the same results with other fingers - then use what your comfortable with. At the end if the day its all about practice and you will get better. Hope that helps!
hey for anyone that wants to play fast. A SECRET IS: use higher guage strings. these dont vibrate as much. little trick i learned from the master paul gilbert :)
@thebigcheese664 We would recommend changing your strings especially if there beginning to rust!! once your new strings are worn in a little it shouldn't hurt, maybe try a lighter gauge of strings, you may find it easier to bend them.
Lmao I got my start by bullshitting Slayer solos. They're basically anything random, so I suggest that's how you start. Then learn the shapes and scales, then learn picking basics.
@ColinBanks96 You could, but you would have to have an almost innate ability for it, there isn't many guitar players who can do it, but one of the top of my head Is James Hetfield from Metallica
@ColinBanks96 Alternate picking is quite important to speed. If you practice hard enough over time you will get it. It really is relative to how much time you can put into practicing it. Once you do get it down it will become something you do without really thinking about too much anymore. Just keep working ... it will come.
Hi do you need a specific guitar to be able to shred well, I use a PRS CE and Vintage V100. I am looking into getting a guitar that I can play this kind of music (metal) such as an ESP Ltd, Jackson or Ibanez but Im not sure yet and my budget is pretty low, any tips? Thanks
if you wanna play this good : get the course, practice this shit a loooooot (first slow) then practice other songs and stuff u love while also playing this dvd, you will shred... rock on \m/

Please let me know. Thanx. Could u do a cover of A Little Piece of HEave n Andy James? Come on man. I seen u do Bat Country...The solo anyway. It'd mean alot.
we can not learn shred in six weeks, the shred is the technique and the technique takes a long time and works, but you can make this DVD in six months, it's reasonable
hey im looking for a dvd that will help me improve me skill fast, ive never had any lessons and im of medium skill and i can play riffs from seek and destroy, symphony of destruction, and raining blood, and other songs of that skill level could u plz point me to a dvd that will help me?
Hello. I was wondering if somebody could check out my vids and judge whether or not I'd be ready for this. I'm really interested. Just don't know whether or not I should start elsewhere. I consider my to be somewhere between intermediate and advanced.
@Arata414 Hi there, we wouldnt advise someone who has little or no experience to start with this DVD. If you are someone with little or no experience we would suggest taking a look at our New Beginners range, will send you a link to your youtube inbox! We wouldnt want to discourage you from the Shred In 6 Weeks Series we just want to make sure you get a good grounding prior to jumping in the deep end! Check your inbox in 5!
Hi lick library should i wait to start this dvd after i learn the techniques or will this help not only give you licks it will show you how to do the techniques and give you exercises for it
@Dgray1392 Hi there thanks for getting in touch - this isnt a beginner DVD series it is best to know some of the techniques, as this series is what your after though we would recommend maybe taking a look at just week 1 - see how you get on with it, if its something you find your struggling with then we would recommend maybe looking at some Technique DVD's Danny Gill teaches some Sweep Picking,Alternate Picking and String Skipping DVD's if you'd like the links to the DVDs will send them to you.
I have 1 through 6 but I'm not sure how I should be going through everything.
1) What are the BPM's for the backing tracks? Is that the goal I should reaching to?
2) Should I be moving on 1 week at a time? I've been on week 1 for for 4 weeks and I can really only get it to around 155 BPM's. When should I move on?
Is there a way I can get tabs for the lessons sent privately?
@mrtheroan Hi there, the idea of the 6weeks is to progress by each dvd - now wk 1 may take you as you say 4 wks to master all the techniques, if it takes you 6 weeks for each week dvd - this doesnt matter - The goal is to teach you all the techniques needed to Shred on the guitar, progress now to week 2 & then when returning to week 1 you may find yourself stronger and ultimately faster - its about nailing the finger work and then the speed will eventually come.Unfortunately there are no tabs.
Hi, I have a question. Would it be possible for Lick Library to do a DVD that focuses on 80s style Rock/Metal/Glam rhythm and lead playing? such as in the style of Ratt, Giant, Winger, Def Leppard, Hardline (Double Eclipse Album) and more etc? 80s rhythm and lead seem to be the pinnacle of guitar playing and it would be great to have a DVD that focuses on this type of playing.
@Islandsoundzz Hi there thanks for the suggestion, we do already have a Def Leppard dvd called Jam With Def Leppard - have you checked that out yet? If not we will send you the link to it.
I remember the first time i was playing guitar while looking at kirk hammet, and thought to myself, I wanna play like that! And I am getting better and better literally everyday. Find an inspiration!
Hey Licklibrary is this the right dvd for someone playing for almost 3 years and can play zak wylde type stuff but is comepletly lost at long scale patterns?
@aitsBRAD Hi, if you class yourself as an Intermediate to Advanced player than yes, its not really how long you've been playing. Why not try the first DVD (Week 1) and see from there how you get on.
everytime i do something with my pinky finger, especially sweeps, it always does an accidental pull off and it doesnt sound clean at all, is there any way i can stop doing this? its drivin me nuts, thank you :)
i have this dvd series, and it´s not like you can play nearly as fast as andy is doing in this vid here after 6 weeks, but it´s an exellent introduction and it is really helping you to learn the foundation
@mrcookiejacker if you're serious about finding the perfect guitar, the best I can say is try as many as you can and use what's comfortable. I've been playing 20 years and my 2 main guitars are a Les Paul standard and a mid line LTD Viper. It all depends on your style, some people like different necks, bridges, body styles etc. I've known folks that play on upgraded low ends cuz they like how they play, too many different variables to just state a guitar and say go get it, hope that helps a bit
Are there any options to buy or plans to release the full series as a box set? I'd love to get this series of DVD's but it'd cost me over £100 to buy these individually
does this dvd say everthing step by step n explain everthing abt shredding really really good cuz i really wanna shred better n i need a lot of help i only been playin for 2 yrs
@DescentFromHeaven Theese dvds have been made to teach you how to shred. a beginner obviously can't shred you need to know some techniques like hammer ons n' pull offs, bending and stuff like that so start shredding
ohh maybe my question has nothing to do with the dvd itself.. ive always wandered hot this guys that play with active pick ups like emg or sm blackout can get that "shreddy" sound for the neck position? i really don't know and im not talking about his playing or somethin like that, but it is so strange, because that sound is pretty much as passivepickup sound.
Hi andy, I play good solos like Kirk Hammett but I want to play like John Petrucci. I'm a pretty good guitarist in the style of Kirk. Can I buy the 6th week without buy the 3-4 and 5th weeks. (sorry for my bad english)
Does the hairband actually help while playing live? because i play live with my band alot and i always hear some strings ringing out because of the drums.
@licklibrary ok for instance when I get goin fast after about 2-3 84 note runs my fingers stiffen up and won't move as fast and they start to stumble on each other
@perseusbeatkraken Hi there if you could send us a message regarding what your after and will be able to help you out! Hope thats cool - Just send us a message via our inbox and will see it quicker!
@BlackZombie27 Hi there, thanks for getting in touch, whilst all the dvds potentially will help with increasing your speed and accurancy, we have a dvd which focuses purely on getting your licks up to warp speed- its also taught by Andy James its called Ultimate Guitar Speed Soloing Techniques. Will send you the link to your inbox here on youtube so you can take a look. Hope it helps!
hi andy nice guitar playing... i have problem similar with@SenoritaKackbratze could you send me message the same yousent her...i'm a serious guitarist and thank you in advanced....boyingsantoso@yahoo.com
@kbstrat143 Hi Kbstrat143 will send an email to your youtube account - we dont send emails directly to private email addresses - Sorry. Will send one along soon.
Hey Andy, very good! I'm a beginner, I'm playing guitar since 2 years now, but I still can't read & play after notes. Is that needed to understand your DVD and learn the lessons? Because I really have problems with my technique and playing fast!! And is it going to help me fast if I practice 1 to 2 hours a day?
@licklibrary Hi Guys I have the same question SenoritaKackBratze asked a week ago.I started 1 1/2 years ago and now im going for a metalcore band which expects me to play some crazy shredish solos.i have some experience in shredding techniques etc but im kinda limited with my knowledge/skills.basicly im looking for something that can help me getting into practicing routine and something to help me burst out of single position acending/descending runs etc. ... help in sight ??
@CraxPfeife Ok will send you a similar reply, help is in sight - will send an email to your youtube account with some links and advice. Hope it helps.
@sootycowboy2 I have them they are great, Andy takes you through all the scales and sequences to go with an awesome backing track it really is the way forward.
@RedNeckEDU Hi there - yes these DVDs are available in NTSC Format - you can check them out by following the link in the description. Hope that helps?
@BiologicalBreakOut Hi there - there are some stores out there that stock our dvds - though if you wish to order online you can foloow the link through the description & we post globally!
Just curious if there's a reason for not using your pinky in places that it seems like you should. If it's just how you play then I understand but it seems like your videos could potentially lead to weak pinky's in your students.
@sonicthehedgehogxp Hi there yeh over the course of the dvds you will learn pentatonic and blue scales in 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th Position - natural minor scales in all those positions, tapping techniques, legato licks, arpeggios, pentatoincs & chromaticism, octave licks, combining postion sequences, and a range of licks in the styles of Zakk Wylde,Paul Gilbert, Dimebag,Steve Vai, Yngwie and John Petrucci. If your looking for speed techniques then will send you a link for a dvd dedicated to speed...
Thanks man but I'll need the details as to where I buy it or what site to do the orders on. Please give me the details and instructions I need to purchase this. Cheers

i got ur 6 weeks shredding lesson
its really gr88
thanks for the vdos
but i hv a doubt
do we hv to use the same finger pattern as shown in the lessons??
for example in the 1st week's 3 notes per string pentatonic sequences u r using index, middle n pinky to play the notes on lower E string n like that
but i find it difficult to stretch my index n middle finger to such extent
can i use my own finger pattern or is it necessary to use the same finger pattern as urs??
plss reply :)

ohh maybe my question has nothing to do with the dvd itself.. ive always wandered hot this guys that play with active pick ups like emg or sm blackout can get that "shreddy" sound for the neck position? i really don't know and im not talking about his playing or somethin like that, but it is so strange, because that sound is pretty much as passivepickup sound.

SenoritaKackbratze 10 months ago
@SenoritaKackbratze Hi there, will send you a message to your inbox. As our answer is too big for a comment! Give us 5mins!

DarkKnight896 1 year ago
Just curious if there's a reason for not using your pinky in places that it seems like you should. If it's just how you play then I understand but it seems like your videos could potentially lead to weak pinky's in your students.
Underoathlog1234 1 year ago
So will this dvd feature speed exercise and alt picking exercise, scales lessons etc?
sonicthehedgehogxp 1 year ago
