@TheFantasticCorndog That's ignorant of you. He's trying to explain that the commercially raised chickens are unnatural. you're just used to seeing them.
I don't understand why people think poor people should automatically be entitled to eat chicken (thereby justifying battery farming). They aren't. Eating chicken used to be a special occasion before the existence battery farming practices. Nowadays it's just a throwaway commodity (KFC) sustained by cruelty and low quality. I think it would be better if we ate chicken less often but have the highest quality when we do.
@homoeroticfood It's not that they're entitled per se to chicken... if there could be a food revolution where the poor could have access to cheap, hearty vegetarian meals which respect food sensitivities (not many people are allergic to meat, but plenty are allergic to vegetable matter like nuts and soy, which are often staples in a veggie diet), then that would be awesome. But as it stands now, cheap chicken occupies an important place in the working class' diet.
What the hell do you want me to do? I can't afford to eat free range home-grown chickens at every meal. You may as well complain about the air I breathe while you walk around with a golden tank of fresh air. Nothing I can do about it.
Just how many of those expensive chickens do you use in your restaurant? If only those expensive ones 99% of the people on here cannot afford to eat at your restaurant.
Neither chicken was happy. They are chickens. The eat they shit we eat them someone shovels out the shit, rinse repeat.. End of story.
MrHurricanFloyd, that is true, but it is true only because we are willing to buy the cheapest. We buy foods that are out of season, chickens that are genetically engineered. The whole lot of regional cuisine is in jeopardy because of this. It's all because of cost and laziness on the part of the family.
@flfiddler all our food is genetically engineered. From the grains we grow to the beer we drink. Man has for hundreds of years tried to improve food strains.
Meat color is based on what a chicken eats not how it is treated. I am guessing the price difference between the cheap and expensive chicken is probably 5 fold. I'm sorry I don't really care that much about bone density. I would like to experience the flavor difference, but I would also like to eat rare truffles. It's just a money issue

@ultimatumjs
how it makes the stock, which is used in many many dishes.. also impacts how much harder the muscle has to work.

SpongiformSpongee 1 year ago

It is 100% impossible for the current population to survive on old-fashioned meat.
There are now too many of us and the old-fashioned production methods can not keep up even if we did cut our intake to more reasonable standards.

Well then why not change our eating habits? Eat less meat, etc.
