This is because it is the cars roll cage, frame, and harnesses that protect the occupant not the material the body is made out of. @CTSV4MEE To compare the Z06 to a Formula 1 car is completely nonsensical. The z06 probably costs the same as 2 bolts from an F1 car. The single and only reason the z06 uses plastic is to make the car as cheap as possible, not because they want to mimic F1 safety or anything else, so theres no point trying to sugar coat it. The Z06 is very well known as a horrible unsafe car in accidents.

If someone wants speed as well as luxury, comfort, safety, class, and can afford to spend the extra bucks, he would get a European sports car. To each his own, I guess.

As far as comfort goes, the Z06 seats are way more comfortable than a Ferrari's (that also negatively affects the performance because the Z06's seats don't provide enough support). As far as safety goes, the frame of the Vette is extremely strong which holds up just fine in accidents. I love European sports cars and love American sports cars and given the opportunity I will have tons of both

@4spdk actually it has less plastic then other sport/supercars. Its made out of carbon fiber, aluminum, and magnesium. There is plastic in the interior and rear bumper that is actually a very strong light plastic developed by NASA for the space shuttles. So the term "plastic" doesn't always mean cheap. ITs not like the car is made out of Ziploc containers.. do some research next time before you comment.

There's a package you can get on the Vette, which they should just make standard but it does look ten times better inside and only costs like $5000 more or something. It gives you the stitching on the dash and door panels and the stitching on the leather and center console. Makes the Vette look a hell of a lot better on the inside. At least the C6 has improved it's interior though, compared to the C5.

@4spdk , Z06 has a mix of CF, fiberglass, and SMC body panels, which I will take anyday over steel or aluminum. The only best thing to be put on sports cars are full CF which the F430 does not have. Plastic is the interior of your Nissan or the Dodge Caravan you're driving around in. LOL

Still, I think this cars are worlds appart, the vette might be the best sports car for the money but a ferrary costing more than twice as much will be much more refined and have more tech on its engines.
