@magicmanslim If you used resin you would effectively glue the barrel into the blocks when you applied pressure. Rosin is a white powder used to help with grip. It's the powder in the back behind the pitcher's mound you see them pick up from time to time during a game, and it's what's in the pouch you may have seen climbers have on the back of their belts that they stick their hands in from time to time.

@fanofde4ever ah actually climbers use chalk, which helps dry the hands but doesn't necessarily add grip strength

The white powder is just powder rosin. You can use regular powdered rosin sold in sporting goods stores for baseball pitchers rosin bags...
