Not many happy stories come out of Iraq, this is one of the few, and for me the emotion on that little girl's face is something to cherish. Many American kids haven't been so fortunate, their fathers haven't come back home. I have the deepest sympathy for all victims of war, I wish there were none, but I rejoice when families like this have their loved ones return safely to them and are spared complete and utter grief. (I'm not American, incidentally.)

Every time we write or skype home we hear that everything is fine, even when things are far from it. We go overseas to do a job we chose to live but we know the true heros are the ones left at home trying to raise our kids with some normality and the kids that try so hard to smile when they want to cry. Not many happy stories come out of Iraq, this is one of the few, and for me the emotion on that little girl's face is something to cherish. Many American kids haven't been so fortunate, their fathers haven't come back home. I have the deepest sympathy for all victims of war, I wish there were none, but I rejoice when families like this have their loved ones return safely to them and are spared complete and utter grief. (I'm not American, incidentally.)
