  • Man you are talented no doubts but most of all you are a "professional" language learner, I am Italian and I speak other 4 languages including Chinese and I love languages like you BUT I don't live with my family and I have to work my ass off to put a roof over my head. Keep up with the good job and I wait to see your book coming up soon. Ciao Nico

  • wow! Luca! i'm beginning to fall in love with you! :-) i loooooooooooooooooooove you Luca! :)

  • Hey! I'm bilingual in Mandarin/English and I want to tell you your Chinese is excellent. I've never seen someone who learned Chinese for only a year and a half speak this well.

Your accent is great. Most people at this stage can't even tell second tone apart from third tone.

    :)

  • @poliglotta80 wow grazie 1000

  • sei un MOSTRO (in senso buono eh...) xD GRANDISSIMOOOOOO

  • you r a good looking man and you speak great mandarin too. good luck with your Chinese study.

  • @p251636991 Thank you for the lovly words! :-) L

  • WOW!!!!!!......i wish i can learn chinese.

  • Regarding your video title 说 is like the English "say". A better word for "speak" is 讲 as in 讲话. 说话 can be translated to "talk" if used like this “ 他跟我说话 ” but mostly 说话 is like "to say something" while 谈 is like "chat" or "converse" as there's more of an implication you are holding a conversation with someone. I don't know how else to explain it. You just don't say 说中文, you say 讲中文. Hence, kauemoura's comment “ 你讲得很好 ” where 讲 and not 说 is used.

  • Sorry if that sounded harsh. Your Chinese is really good for only learning it for a year!

  • I also speak chinese. but maan, your tones are very good!!!

  • I started learning Mandarin Chinese at school at my Chinese friend says I have an American accent.

  • i've studied chinese for four years. i must say, i had my doubts as to how this was going to turn out, but i must say, this is really really excellent. i feel my ego must have gotten to the better of me, hehe. kudos to you!

  • Hi Luca, Very impressive and motivating. I am really curious about how many hours per day did you devote on learning Chinese so quickly. It is one of the hardest languages. Did you also learn the characters, writing or just oral speech. I really need to know about how many hours should I spend each day in order to see a success.

  • @Babybluebird1 Thanks for the nice words! If you come to my blog, I'll be happy to share some more details on my time schedule. My blog has become the place where I answer most of the questions that people normally ask me here. L

  • ciao im from america im trying to learn italian im half italian and my grandmother always gets on me in italian (complaining)lol i just wanted to pass that on to my kids my son Giovanni is more italian than i am and i want him to be able to speak it..My main question for you is i have a diffcult time rolling my R's and italiano has alot of them i guess with anything it wiil take practice but do you have any tip?grazie

  • Mamma mia sei impressionante!

    :)

  • You speak Mandarin very well! I can't believe you only learned for one and a half year... well I am a Chinese learning Italian right now! :)

  • VERY GOOD MAN!

  • Hey Luca, great video&channel. I was just wondering if you could recommend a good textbook to begin with (Chinese). Also, do you study with a Chinese teacher? How much time do you spend studying Chinese every week? Thanks and best of luck!

  • Hoi Luca, erg goed hoor!

  • hi, I'm from Holland. I just wanted to say that I think it's amazing that you speak so many languages! I saw your video in Dutch and I liked it, ten I saw you also speaking Chinese and Swedisch etc XD Amazing

I just want to know; Why are you so interested in learning all these languages?

    greetz

  • @meijax Hoi!

  • @poliglotta80

hey luca,,,, im an afghan/russian guy raised in holland , trying to learn japanese :P can you still follow ? hahaha :P so i was wondering if you could try to speak some dari native tajik/afghan language is similar to persian... would be really funny,,, also subbed to your channel,,, hoping for more videos :D

    you're awesome luca!

  • Dude! You've been learning Chinese for only one and a half years?? I am Chinese and I don't speak half as good as you! Your accent and tones are fantastic! (I can understand the language better than I can speak it, in case you're wondering.)

    Keep up the good work!

  • I hate you xD....

  • Que envidia te tengo xD

Mi amas vidi vin kiam vi parolas ĉine. Mi ankaŭ lernis la ĉinan lingvon kaj ŝajnas ke ĉi tiu lingvo estas mirinda lingvo kaj, kiel vi diris, tre, tre utila lingvo en la hodiaŭa mondo.

    Ĉu vi lernis esperanton?

  • Questo è uno scherzo? MADONNA! sai parlare tutti i lenguaggi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • AWESOME

  • how did you get your accent that good? 很好!

  • Ti invidio troppo... Piacerebbe anche a me parlare così tante lingue e soprattutto così bene T.T Va be' lascerò che il mostro cogl'occhi verdi che è dentro di me continui a guardare i tuoi video :)

  • @DerTreffpunkt what

  • You're awesome Luca! This is the first time I've seen an Italiano speaks Cinese! I learned some Italiano b4 and now learning Español :) Wish I could meet someone like you in here Australia.

  • you are mega cute, in all the languages esp french and russian! but often I cant watch your vids to the end b/c you really mumble, so I just give up. if you get a chance, slow down and speak clearly for us! Otherwise its ok b/c you have great articles on your blog so far - but then there's no eye candy haha anyway thanks for the inspiration :)

  • Hi luca your chenese is great

    im learning it too

i want to speak it as well as you some day

    i will keep practicing

    bye!!

  • Hi Luca,

I should say this was one of the most inspiring videos I've ever watched. I'm really impressed, even though I didn't understand every thing . I'm 19 and I've been learning Chinese on my own. I find it quite difficult, but I'm trying to do my best. How did you learn this language? and how long did it take you to master it? Did you actually take real courses with real teachers?

Tell me how did you manage to be able to speak so many languages... I'm in my way to be a polyglot. :))

  • This sounds really good! One thing, though. According to my Chinese friend, Chinese people don't use "umm..", they say something like... "nigga".. One day, we were in the subway in a train with some black people and she was on the phone saying it over and over again. I felt so uncomfortable.. After we got off, she explained it to me.. lol

  • @mattboy88

I think what your friend said was "nei ge" (那个 - na ge, which in colloquial Chinese very often is pronounced as "nei ge"). Luca really is absolutely amazing. He is not only an outstanding polyglot but also a very nice person.

  • no way| are you a fucking machine? great job man

  • @awfulguitarplucker mah ... forse semplicemente parla in playback .... :D it could be a fake like the other clips ... anyway ... I do not care ...

  • FARK.... you got the CHINA accent...

even though im a chinese.... i cant even do that china accent : (

  • I do not know Chinese, but you sounded great. I translated the Tao Te Ching (written around 500 BCE by Lao Tsu) using an exceptional online Chinese dictionary, so I learned words as I went through my project. That said, I have no practical knowledge of Chinese. In any event, good job!

  • Bravo!

    Your Chinese is really good.

  • How much a day do you study chinese

  • Impressionante. Grazie

  • impressionante...

  • Woow, u learned a lot of languages, cool!. I'm Dutch and trying to learn Korean. Have u tried that language?

  • @RMEHA5 Korean sounds very cool, and I might learn it one day, who knows? They say it is pretty similar to Japanese, at least as far as the structure of the sentences is concerned. I guess that a smattering of Japanese could help one pick up Korean faster, but that is only an assumption of mine. Luca

  • @poliglotta80 I am a speaker of Japanese and a learner of Korean. The former has been of immense help since they are structurally very similar and much of the vocabulary is derived from the same Chinese roots. At the same time they are unique in themselves with different charms about them. I would love to hear you speak one of those some day!

  • one and half year!!! OMG it's incredible.

  • OMG!! You speak supe well!

  • your accent's DIVINE!

  • I'm not Chinese nor do I speak it, but I must say you have a flawless pronunciation! :) No trace of accent anywhere!

Are you planning on doing a non-tonal Asian language in the near future? If you are, I recommend Tagalog. It's relatively easy, considering it's a mixture of English, Spanish, and its own words and vocabulary. I think you won't have any problems with it, and plus I'm Filipino and I can understand it. :D

  • ich habe eine Frage für dich!! how can you read the little squares? i'm very curious to know because they look the same to me. y trabajas con las idiomas que hablas? ich kann englisch und spanisch sprechen.

  • I'm happy to say your Chinese accent is very nice. I'm so happy you care about accents! Lots of polyglots focus on fluency and not accents as much! Great job! I can't tell you are Italian!

  • @flashatizer Thanks for the nice comment. I think (as I said in another video) that speaking a language with a native-like accent is a nice thing to be able to do. Accents are another form of respect for the language and the native speakers. If you succeed in understanding how the pronunciation (as well as intonation/prosody) works since the very beginning, it will dramatically improve as long as your progress in the target language

  • I love this guy! Every new post is a new language.

  • you are really awesome bro... I'm speachless now ^^

  • You amaze me, Luca! Ha, ha. This is awesome. I know enough basic Chinese to know that your accent is fantastic.

  • Wow 1.5 years to speak so well is AWESOME!!!! English is my first language, followed by Mandarin. Not only did you do well with the tones, you know a lot of Mandarin characters. Wow, do you have a secret to speaking so many languages or is it an inborn talent?

  • @coffeenciggy Dear friend, there is no secret. I think I have a good method for learning languages and I invest a lot of time and passion in this "activity" :-) Thanks for the nice words anyway! Luca

  • Luca learn Cantonese!

  • I am so jealous right now.

  • You've probably had this question asked before, but, I noticed that you used simplified characters in this video. Are you only learning simplified or both traditional and simplified? Just curious.

  • @getreallanguage I've always used simplified characters but I also kind of understand traditional ones (in some cases, figuring them out can also be a matter of intuition, given the context and the form itself of the character at hand).

  • Very Nice Video Luca, keep up the good work.

  • I like your apartment interior! :-) That's in Italy or U.S. ?

  • @ilzekonovalova1 I've never been to the US so..it is necessarily my flat in Italy :-) Luca

  • Are there also a lot of possibilities for a person who can speak Cantonese?

  • holy fudge, amazing. Perfect. I'm Taiwanese and that's perfect.

  • wtf no accent? how is this possible

  • Wow. Nice.

  • teach me some :P

  • hello u r very great learner. well-down, u speak very well. ^^, i m taiwanese, also speak Mandarin.

  • E' stupefacente complimenti!

  • hi luca i saw your videos and you're sooooo good, i can speak dutch chinese english and little bit german and you speak all of them so well, even this chinese one. how did you really do this? i like to speak a lot of languages too.

  • peace man, question what is the best way to learn chinese, phonetically or what?

    what was your method?

  • @idoloalbe infatti è 汉语

  • Ciao Luca, innanzitutto complimentoni! Grazie tantissime! Rosanna

  • i saw your other video where you speak english and european languages, and since i don't know the euro languages that well i wasn't sure if you were good or not.

but i speak mandarin, and let me tell you, you are GOOD. your vocabulary and grammar are good, and your sentence structures are complex. kudos.

  • Whoa. I remember you from your first video years ago. How lang are you learning Mandarin? I don't speak any Mandarin or something, but I have great respect for your endeavour of becoming an even greater hyperpolyglot.

  • What you say in this video confirm my previous info about Mandarin that the grammar of the language is rather simple. You find tones not so difficult, but maybe (I have never tried them) for other people to learn them it's a challenge. I would assume that you don't have much of a foreign accent when you speak Mandarin. It sounds natural to me - but take this with grain of salt - as I don't know the language myself. Fasulye

  • Hi Luca, this is a video with interesting contents. The subtiteling makes it possible for me to understand what you are saying, as I haven't learned ANY Asian language. Your speech sounds "fluent" to me, but I am not qualified to estimate a language which I myself don't know. You mention the important aspects why it makes sense to learn such a language as Mandarin. Perhaps this language can even be professionally useful for you in the future. Good luck with your further studies! Fasulye

  • grande

  • Great Job Luca!

  • Dioos!! Chaooo

  • I have a video on YouTube where I am speaking 38 languages that I am fluent in. Please check it out and post a comment or two. Thanks.

  • Thanks for inspiring us, Luca! This video has really inspired me to re-learn written Chinese words I have forgotten. With the Hanyu Pinyin input system I've forgotten how to write or recognize many Chinese words as I don't need to compose in written Chinese at work. I don't often use Mandarin in Singapore unless I speak to hawkers and cab drivers because most people converse in English here.

  • hey man, I've seen your videos and you are simply amazing, you speak english just like an american, the choice of words might be slightly different, but you got it all down perfectly, I just wonder how many books you must have read to learn all these languages! it's fascinating!

  • ah, a saperlo ti portavo con me pochi giorni fa a piazza vit. emanuele lol Una signorina cinese ha insistito a vendermi una taglia sbagliata di pigiama....ora ho un delizioso pigiamino con l'orsachiotto solo che dovrei dimagrire 10 kili per indossarlo....prossima volta ti porto con me dude.cheers, have fun ,relax and do not stress to much yourself with languages. The best language is the one comes from the heart, when you know that One anyone can understand you....even the rocks ;)

  • parabens luca .

  • wow ... Luca ... Impressive !!! ( 4 tumbs up) ... im indonesian chinese, i can speak but not read / write. hehehe .... looking forward to hear u speak Indonesian language 1 day ... (if u are interested in that language tho)

  • Hi Luca. Great video. I´m amazed :) It must have been really hard to learn this language.

  • do you know some book with the grammar of chinese,if you do please tell me

  • Congratulations! How did you learn it?

  • hi there Luca, it's amazing how you can talk cinese now, especially considering that asian languages are difficult for the cultural difference they've got. I'm learning japanese and it's a challenge too. bye, take care

  • haha geweldig om te kijken :D

  • wow luca, you've progress quite fast in chinese. Seems like the tones aren't a issue for you! continue studying and great work.

  • This is awesome Luca, complemente!

  • Just so amazing, Luca. You got no limitations.

  • Nice work Luca. I was wondering when the Luca speaks Mandarin video was coming... I bet you'd get a kick out of Cantonese too.

  • Wow LUCA! Your videos are so motivating!

  • I'm amazed, Luca! I watch your videos for motivation :-)

  • Every time I watch one of your videos I feel like learning a language, very inspiring !!

  • this is pretty awesome :D I hope I will one day speak so many languages ((((:

  • are you taking classes or studying independently?

  • wow luca u are such an amazing person

  • YOU ARE AMAZING!!! I started learning Mandarin last January but I already stopped. My tutor was a very patient woman, but I wasn't very much so. I got frustrated with the tones. =( I hope you'll also learn an Austronesian language, like Bahasa Melayu or Tagalog. I bet it would be very easy for you. =P

  • i like it :)

  • ha...don't know why you leave in shared talk...??can you tell me?i really don't know
