  • that aint no damn foam pit, thats a ramp into a dumpster of trash ..

  • Sick! I would love to have that in my backyard ;) ur gd aswell :)

  • how long is the foam pit?

  • @youngduces

It was about 28' long with a gap of 7' between end of the launch ramp and the beginning of the foam pit.

  • thanks i am building one in my backyard so i was just wondering for sizes but mine will be 16 by 16 but i think it will work if i move the ramp back and make it kick up more

  • @eleven04rails how did you get the foam?

  • @inoobnomoar the first trip we just took a pickup truck. the second time we rented a u-haul truck and loaded up the back.

  • @youngduces

I think we paid about $200. Might have been $300. It was all scrap and we got in good with a guy that worked at a foam place here in Charlotte, NC. The place is no longer open so we can't get that price anymore.

  • where did you get the foam?

  • @qweert111

    a place called FoamEx

  • whats the song?

  • @fletch427

    Maximo Park "Apply some pressure"

  • that looks like a sweet mini ramp next to it. Did you ever finish it?

  • Yeah we did...but not in that location. We moved it to another backyard.

  • what do you do when it rains?

  • @snowboardskater1102

We covered it with a tarp.

  • Hey man, Im going to build a foam pit at my cabin for snowboading in the winter and skating in the summer, but i am not sure on the dimensions. My drop in is about the same slope and hight (maybe 5' taller). Are your dimensions good or would you suggest a little bigger?

  • what company did u get the foam from please msg back

  • We got it from a company called FoamEx. They are all over the US but the one in Charlotte, NC that we got it from went bankrupt.

  • that would be so good for training for snowboarding

  • Yeah, that's what we had in mind.

  • oh and on the 720, did you use straps?

  • Yeah. Used a bungee cord thing that I made.

  • wow what a dreAm to have a mini ramp with a foam pit in the backyard!!

  • looks like fun

  • How much did that cost?

    I want one 2

  • We spent about $500-$600 on it. We got most of the wood from dumpsters and scrap. The foam we got from a local company that was selling it as scrape so it was cheap.

  • omg $500 thats gotta be sweet

  • there is a big gap between the pit and the ramp, go down there

    xx .

  • i see u were biulding a half pipe next 2 it

  • Yep, that half pipe is now in my back yard.

  • wat is the song?

  • "Apply some presure" by Maximo Park

  • was it all unused foam or did you buy it new cause it dosent look new

  • It was scrap foam that we got from a company.

  • invest in a bike ---much better

  • Cool! so do you still have it or is it like wrecked

  • Na, we had to tear it down and rebuild it (city code violation). In the middle of rebuilding it the guy who's place we were building it decided to move, so it never got finished.

  • Dude! that sucks sooooo bad! rebuild it now!!!!!!!! haha jk

  • I have a friend that runs a skatepark here in Charlotte and we have talking about how to put one in his park.

  • dude thats sick! did anything hapen to it when it rains or what do you do about that? wouldnt it like get mold?

  • We had a big tarp over it. It kept the water out.

  • that'd be so fun

  • Where'd you get that foam??

  • A place called Foamex. I think they have just filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.

  • o and about how much did all that wood cost?

  • We started it off at 12' high. we weren't getting the height and distance we wanted so be added 4 more feet to it. It ended up at 16' tall.

We got off really well with lumber. Went around and asked builders for scrap or left overs. Don't think we paid a thing for 2x4s. Some guy gave us a bunch of old crappy plywood. All we paid for was screws and a top layer of plywood and the foam.

  • How high up was ur starting point on the ramp?

  • I like what you've got goin on next to it.

  • looks like just a miniramp

  • naaa realy should be for a bmx

  • im jealous your sooo lucky i might make one! :D

  • yo could you build the foam for the foam pit out of mattreses or something and how do you keep it dry? Also whats a cheap way to get a foam pit

  • Build a wooden box (size depends on what you are jumping into the pit...ours was 16 feet wide, 28 feet long, 4 feet deep) for all the foam to be in. Layer the bottom with mattresses. For the cheapest way...drive around your town/city and look for couches or other furniture on the side of the road. Take the foam out of the furniture and throw it in your pit.

To keep it dry you will need to buy a big tarp.

  • Was it fun doing that?

  • That's an awesome way to learn tricks, did you learn any?

  • Yeah...but I lost them all because we don't have the pit anymore and I only get to snowboard 20 times a year.

  • where you get foaam

  • A place called Foamex. They have places all across the US.

  • what song is played in this video

  • Maximo Park "Apply some preasure"

  • thanks by the way dope edit

  • Damn that looks super fun. I've always wanted to build a huge handrail into a foam pit with like foam stairs.

  • Yeah, we talked about doing that. Didn't get around to it.

  • hey wats the song

  • Maximo Park "Apply some preasure"

  • cool

  • looks like a fukin sick halfy ur buildin

  • isnt foam like a buck a block... how much was it to fill that pit? got an estimate?

  • Got it alot cheaper than that cause we used scrap foam. Got it from a company called Foamex.

  • witch one are you? or r u filming??

  • I did a lot of the filming. At the beginning I'm the one in the red shirt. I'm the one that dropped in with the camera and the one doing the 720 at the end.

  • im trying not to be toaltally jealous

  • Yeah, it was a fun ramp while it was up. Still looking for a place to build a new one.

  • how deep is the pit?

  • 4-6 feet deep. But it didn't really need to be that deep.

  • Got the foam from a company called Foamex. We built a big box out of 2x4s and plywood to hold the foam. I have no idea about how to keep it from freezing.

  • that looks like a lot of fun and good for training! me and my friends want to do something like that but we wanted something street skating like. using a tractor to dig about 12 feet deep and about 50 feet circumference and then put about 4 feet of foam in the pit and then put hand rails and ramps and a foam stair set going into it to practice street.

  • that is so cool how much did it cost to build it?

  • We are builders and we used scrap. So out of pocket we probably spent about $600. But if you were to pay full price for it probably somewhere around $3500.

  • We were building a halfpipe next to the drop in. We never got to finish it.

  • omg i would be on that all day every day!

what happens when it rains lol?!

im guessing some sort of huge plastic sheet goes over it all?

  • We had a huge tarp that we pulled over it.

  • sweet,

really wanna try a foam pit :P

  • It's so much fun. I wish we still had this one up. We have plans to build another one but that's probably a few months away.

  • cool, you having it next to a house again lol?

you should get one where you drop in of the window ledge :P

  • AWESOME

  • Thats narly guys! Looks like a killer time, sorry to hear you had to move it somewhere else though. We would love a pit but its not in our budget so were using cardboard boxes just mainly for saftely. Its still being built

  • Yeah, been checking out your stuff. Looks good. Can't wait to see it finished.

  • 6 inches of foam, 7 feet of dead cats. Very timely living next door to the pound. What ever happened to Martha and Stewart?

We're building one and filling it with possums.

  • wow dude, thats soooo good, looks like its gonna be a sick halfie aswell.

  • yeah...it was gonna be a sick halfpipe. Unfortunately we had to take the whole thing down because the guy moved. We've got another foam pit in the plans, hopefully up and running by the end of the summer.

  • ohhh true... that sucks.

    dammn

Goodluck with the new one then hey.

  • is the foam expensive?

  • It is if you buy from the sales people. We were able to get in good with a manager at the place we got it.

  • If you're able to get your hands on some, make sure it's NOT memory foam. That stuff is not good for foam pits.

  • Where did you get the foam for that thing?

  • There is a place just north of Charlotte, NC that you can buy scrap foam.

  • sick!!!, likin the backside 7
