I bought my dad one of these for his bday. While I had it I liked it so much I bought one myself. I'm not carrying this as a concealed gun i have in the night stand ready to take someone's head off with if I have to. The .410 shells kick a lot harder than the .45LC in this gun and u can mix ur bullets. Use birdshot to stun and blind the person while they are getting their senses rivin n pain put a .45LC or a Pdx home defense round in them. Try it tnp u will love it
"Huh wonder why? I have my cheat sheet here so I can try to remember everything I don't know about this gun." Hey fag put it in your purse and I'll throw it over my shoulder. "I shoot big snakes with it cause I'm going to save myself for Johnny Holmes!"
I like the nutnfancy reviews, but don't rag on a gun and say that it isn't accurate or suited for defense if you haven't tried it out. I come to YOUR reviews because I want YOUR opinion on how the gun works. I do NOT want the collection of reviews that you have read. I'm not even a Judge fan myself, but at least I gave it a fair chance.
I agree with the post, but a 410 depending on the round won't go through walls as easy, makes for a good home defense gun and maybe ccw. I like the smith and Wesson gov better. In my opinion we often forget bullets go through cars, people, and walls. It might not be a GTW gun, but every tool has a purpose.
Wtg2989 I more talking about the dudes that use the 45 long colt not 410. Basically all I'm trying to say is I think you have a little more options with a different weapon. That was just an example. I aint saying it's not accurate or a bad gun cuse I have one
I'm with you nutnfancy. It's to much no need for it. If u want big impressive go with a 44 mag 357mag and you get more ammo and accuracy. It's a cool gun but I would use it for self defense. There's not to many options. Good video
i wonder how durable it is. back in the day taurus had a bad rep. i mentioned the name around my dad and he said dont simply because of his experiance. but within the last ew years they aparently (especially with their revolvers) have went up in the world when it comes to quality.
Don't see how you could do a review without any research or even shooting the gun. But I shot 000 buck ammo through ballistics gel and one shot is like geting hit by 3 9mm bullets. I can hit a target at 60 yards with .45lc. Shoot it for yourself.
POU- Car gun-so you don't have to send 357 magnum rounds flying through downtown windows when you get carjacked at knife/gun point. Home defense-so you can keep a loaded weapon in your night stand and not have to worry about 9mm rounds bashing through drywall and into your loved ones rooms that are down the hall. Shoot the gun before you review it.
As for shooting shot shells thru it, i dont recommend using shot shells for any ranges over 10 yards, but also like the LC45, with practice you can make buck shot and slugs reach out alittle further. recoil is next to nothing for anyone that has a pair. ammo versatility is awesome. you have the ability to shoot (thru some models) 454CASULL, LC45, BIRDSHOT, BUCKSHOT, SLUGS, DRAGONS BREATH, BOLO ROUNDS, FELECET ROUNDS, and any other 410 shot shell that exists out there.
@wtg2989 I would say depends on the situation. For the car, sure. conceal carry or home, probably not. Ive only shot it a few times. It wasnt something that WOW'd me. buck shot, or 45LC are the rounds i personally stick with for personal defence. They serve my needs. but to each thier own.
@wtg2989 yes and no, with anything, it depends alot on the situation. if live in a very large open floor plan home, shooting from up stairs to down, probably not to effective. if i live in a single wide trailer, then i souldn't have a problem shooting the bad guy.
@cbsmoraine OK so one extreme to the other? Walk off the distance from the doorway to the back of a room in most homes and you will see that it is within effective range of the buckshot and/or PDX1 rounds. Maybe your house is an exception but most houses (don't have to be trailers) have the ideal set up.
I know this is an old review and taurus has since come out with other models since this review. But like so many others i have to disagree with this review. The judge is a VERY versitile gun. I have fired every model taurus has and i own a public defender which i conceal carry. The gun is inaccurate at ranges over 30 yards, (LC45) but if you practice with it like you should, you learn to compensate for range and accuracy become less of an issue.
Before you write a bad review you might should shoot the gun. Its tons of fun and good for close range personal defense. You might not think it has a ton of penetration power but the first guy try and car jack me is going to know what a blast of tactical 410 feels like to his face and I think he'll wished he'd stayed at home.
I have this gun it good, I shot colt 45 rounds at cinder block at apox 15 feet it cracked the blocks also did the same with coconuts also did the same, used full metal jacket rounds, fired new rounds for 410 and rounds (slugs) were great! damage out to 20 feet at blocks and coconuts cracked them all! I have carried a gun for almost 27 yrs retired US army and NYPD you can carry this weapon I used to carry ruger 38 4 inch barrel and still do and now I will carry this with no problem!
I don't own this gun but I've shot it several times. Having said this, I would not do a review of a gun without firing it at the range and without conducting some standard tests. It's like writing a review of an automobile and not having driven it. Your review lacks credibility.
great video, big fan of the TNP, you are dead on with your evalution on the uses, it is a fantastic snake gun (if you can't tell by my screen name I live in Texas) but I see find a .38, 9mm or a .45 acp with snake shot will give the same results while giving you the versitilly of a real handgun. I'ts hard to argue with a person who thinks it is a "cool" gun, that person will reject logic. Taurus has a winner and they know it,
You have no idea what you're talking about. I've been packing a judge on me every day for almost a year now and I fell naked without it. As for the accuracy of this gun take it out and soot it, It will speak for it self.
@kathy102358 I have to agree. I purchased this gun a month ago and accuracy is pretty much dead on. And if I ever have to use this gun it's not as if i'm trying to snipe someone 100 yards away. Up close someone is going to feel the pain. I killed a wild boar in Texas with the .45lc when it tried to charge my friend during a bow hunting trip.
I spoke with one of the 'Biggest is Best' guys some time ago, in which he proudly boasted that he would defend his life with a .45 ACP any day of the week, but not with a 'pipsqueak' like a .410.
The .45 chucks out 230 grains of lead at about 850 fps; a modern 3 inch .410 does more than 300 at way over 1000. It appears that lead possesses magical properties when used in a big-bore handgun, but these mysteriously disappear when more of it achieves higher velocity from a small-bore shotgun!
I like Nutnfancy, but I think he didn't think this review through (besides not actually shooting the Judge). Taurus now makes a railed version of the Judge. I think putting a light on it puts it on par with a full sized shooty in terms of home defense. Granted, the 410 is no 12 gauge, but I wouldn't liked to be shot with neither if I was a robber. The smaller size also makes the Judge more maneuverable in tight courters then even a pistol gripped 12 gauge. That is just my opinion.
I can't figure out why you're down on this. You're entitled to your opinion, but so are the rest of us, and we're buying these in droves. The fact that you can find some used means nothing; you can find anything used.
The POU that Taurus promotes is more like "car gun." They specifically say that the rifling is to make .410 pellets spread faster, and yes, it is very much a close-range gun.
Of course, this review is old enough that they could have changed their marketing in response to criticism.
@zombiehunterjones Yes my girl finds this gun real easy to handle and is confident she can hit the target with the 410 shell. I like the gun too and feel better knowing she has it.
I actually fired the gun before I saw it in any kind of movie so i liked it right off the bat but your right its not a very accurate long range kind of revolver it would make an excellent home defense weapon yeah making a headshot would be nice but thats not what you need even if you get hit in the leg with 410 your not going to want to do or have anything from the house your in. i feel like its made for hunting possibly squirrel (if you could get close enough) but snake for sure
But.... Like u it's not my cup o' tea either. I'm more inclined to love my Sig P220. Since I'm displaying my opinion my personl ranking of handgun manufaturers is as follows.
1: Kimber
2: Sig sauer
3: H&K
4: Smith and Wesson
This was hard for me because I'm a huge Sig fan but for quality I had to put Kimber first. Notice I didn't include Glock. If I've experienced epic failure from a gun maker I'm not likely to give second chances to them. I know not a fair move just me.
@TheJedi270 You can not JUDGE guns by brand names, maybe to an extent but I personally believe you should individually rank handguns. All of those mentioned make many diff. types of handguns. Just because you had an issue with one Glock doesn't mean all Glocks suck. I've had nothing but good experience with my 19 and my 30. Think it through before you JUDGE. haha
@ekserchina I respect your opinion you should respect mine to each their own is how I see it. For me Glock is the epitomy of the k.i.s.s. theory keep it simple stupid. but in my personal experience through law enforcement Glock was a huge let down broken firing pins weak recoil springs etc. and getting service is a pain in the ass. It breaks down to $65.00 per gun for them to build and sell at $400.00. I just dont like plastic guns. i did say above it's not fair it's just me.
As I do respect ur opinion also. But defensive use? in the home it's fine. Like tactical .22 lr is fine as well for that purpose a .22lr will drop a burglars lung quite well. Not everybody usung a weapon for defense will EDC the weapon. EDC I agree with you completely. But there are other uses for handguns other than daily carry. Keeping under the truck seat yeah. Holster concealment lol nah. But.... it's lack of concealability dosn't hurt it's quality or uses to many.
Nutn, I've seen videos of the public defender model shooting 000 buck and having a torso sized pattern at about 30 ft. That's really all you need with this gun. It also went through the outer and inner panels of a car door, both metal. Your thoughts?
Another P.O.U. for this gun is a woods gun/ or asome what survival gun. .45 L.C. for defense like bears if you have a hot enough load, or .410 for survival hunting small game rabbits, squirrels, grouse...
@TakeDetour and why not for self defense?? the original Judge was never intended for conceal carry(way too big) but the Public Defender weights less than most pistols..At 20.7 oz it weights less then my s&w 40..
At the time I had a fairly low opinion till I found out that the buckshot loads actually don't fly all over the place and pattern well out to 25 yards. Even thought the Pdx1 has some stray BB pellets after 10 feet those discs group real well on target out to 25 yards but not to far past that.
Is it bad that I think it's incredibly funny when Nutn is just bustin on an item? knoxx shooting stocks, the judge, the black sable, the infidel, he's incredibly funny when an item bugs him!
the public defender version is made to carry, the original 3 inch barrel (as shown in the video) was made for a car defense gun, if you're going to "judge" the gun on the ability to carry, you should at least review the carry model, the public defender.. hickok45 had great accuracy with the 45 colt at a long distance, but i guess thats the difference you get, when the reviewer actually shoots the gun before giving a crappy review. Try shooting the gun, and then make a video
@mrkm715 Shooting it will tel you how it handles and how accurate it is. It will not affect its POU. .410 is still a bizarre choice for self defense and .45LC is expensive and hard to find. Plus, the .410 capacity makes it unnecessarily big as a .45LC revolver. A .357 Ruger sp101, for example, is half as big and more versatile.
hey nutn, big fan,and i plan on getting one of these one day in the future for one specific POU (not sure if someone already mentioned this, didnt go back on comment s very far). And that reason is for it to be my car/truck defense gun! if im sitting in my car and some dirtbag tries to jack me for my truck, i feel it would be easier for me to grab this sitting next to me rather than my holstered gun. i guess it'll be like "designated truck gun" lol! just thought i'd drop my 2cent about it!
I used to own a Taurus Judge with the 3" barrel, and 3" chamber for the magnum 410 rounds. Great revolver, and main use is for self defense, but it is fun to take to the range and shoot close range targets with, however firing 3" magnum 410 shells gets really hard on the wrist very fast, the .45LC isn't bad at all, and neither are the 2-1/2" 410 shells. However given a self defense situation its nice to have the ability to shoot 410 or 45LC. or mixing them together randomly in the cylinder.
id use that to blast critters gettin in my barn, sit on the third floor and aim down at the ramp goin to the ssecond floor and blast em as they go threw the cat door, also i prefer the hammered versions also
@SouthTxTactical Yeah, because he has literally decades (since he was a child) of shooting experience, retired from the military as a lieutenant colonel, was/is a volunteer police officer, and knows what he's talking about. He has enough experience to know, in most cases, what a gun is going to do and be capable of and good for. Before you criticize, try learning more about the person.
@Symbiot5 WOW…Did not mean to offend any TNP fanatics. I do know of his background and greatly respect his opinion. Its hard to make the time to watch all of his videos, so I can understand how its much harder for him to have the time to make them. I just felt that if he’s being asked to review this gun so much he could have fired it, or just not done it… Just my opinion, don’t get me wrong I am a huge fan of the project.
@SouthTxTactical I WAS kind of in a bad mood when I posted that... But yeah I do get where you're coming from. But like he says in other videos, it's also really expensive to do this stuff too. He'd have to buy one or find someone who owns one so he could shoot it, and with so many other things on his plate for review... Well you get the picture.
@nutnfancy ..wow this is a shame.. I use to subscribe to your channel but after this review of a gun that you NEVER shot..I no longer can trust your judgement. You make a few points about how the previous owner obviously didnt like the gun cause he sold it,you also make a point about the price of the used gun, well that price is close to what they are selling for new(so it holds its value pretty well). As for the previous owner selling it ,a lot of people sell there guns does not meen they r crap.
@nutnfancy this gun DOES what it was intended for "close range self defense".. The Ultra light Public Defender weights 20.7 oz perfect for conceal carry..Still cant figure out how you review a gun and give it terrible marks when you have NEVER shot it.. I have lost all respect for your reviews.. You have lost a loyal subscriber/fan..
@zeusdog34 The thing is, loyal subscribers understand he has decades of experience, reference thunder gauntlet, sledgehammer, the trench, and the TNP all star shoot, I respect what he has to say, even if it is only a personal opinion
@ghostie234 I understand that he has some experience but that does not make him an expert with a GUN that he has never fired..He should actually shoot the gun, all variations of it than pass his Judgement : )
@ghostie234 .I agree .. I subscribed to his channel(again) really cant let one BAD review ruin it,he does know his stuff.. BUT HE should not review a GUN HE HAS NOT FIRED...I bought a gun based on his review(sig 522)...Anyway later
@nutnfancy Hello. Just to say (and no, the PM system doesn't seem to work), we had contact some time ago and I seem to remember nutn wanted to speak, and that I was told he would "get back to ya". Unfortunately, this has not happened. Since you (Veri) stated that he might have wanted to contact re a now closed subject, I don't know whether nutn still wishes to contact me, but it would be great to know either way.
Hi Nutn, I would add two POU's.. One I would use this to keep in my night stand. Second, You could store this in your car. If Mr. Bad guy tries to car jax or he has some case or road rage, he will be very scared when he looks down the barrel of this gun.
I do agree with you on a lot of points with the gun. I have a 2 1/2 inch judge. I love it and its fun to shoot but its close range only, I shoot the .410 #4 shot out of it. I use it as a snake/bear gun when I'm camping. I live in Wyoming so it is used. The .45 is ok out to 15 yards if your good at shooting. For a camping gun its good, and it takes a lot of different types of rounds. But unless you use it for small game like rabbit or as a snake or camping gun it has no real reason.
Interesting. If you watch Hickock45's video on this gun he hits a target at 100 yards with .45 colt easily. He did say however that the sights shoot really high, so maybe that's why people think it has accuracy problems.
I disagree with your opinion on this gun, but i respect your opinion. I find this gun to be a very useful gun for guys like me with larger hands who want a good, large, point blank range hand cannon. But thanks for reviewing it! I respect your opinion. TNP forever bro!
Gotta love the assholes who comment with mindless drivel...I agree with nutnfancy...there has to be a reason there are so damn many used specimens at every local gun shop I've been in recently. It is not a "shotgun in a minuscule package" as one guy wrote...it shoots the smallest, wimpiest shotgun round out there. Guys and gals... There are simply much better choices for edc, self defense and home defense.
I beg to differ how can you compare this to a subcompact concealed weapon. Its's not! May also make a good home defense gun. I mean look at the 410 OO shot and it's not going through your house walls into your neighbors house. The 45 caliber has more stopping power than your 9mm, 10mm and 40 calibers and used indoors with glaser or gold dot would be an excellent choice of a defense weapon..
For someone who has not shot the Judge, you act as if you are an expert. A 3” Magnum .410 (000 buckshot) round has 5 pellets of .36 caliber, 70 grains each and is about twice as effective as a .40 caliber S&W. It will blow a large hole in a 2x4 at 10 feet. The Judge is my primary home defense tool. Round #1 is #4 shot, Rd 2 is #4 buck, Rd 3 & 4 are 000 buck and Rd 5 is a magnum slug. The magnum rounds have a lot more powder thus giving more punch.
@nunoir8 Why is this a home defense im sick of hearing this. This gun is trash all the way around short of the "second type of cool" which I still think this gun is trash. My home defense is a mossberg 590 Steel mat. With birdspray/3inslug combo. If your at home why wouldnt you want a large 3inch 12ga? Why if your life was really on the line and space, size and weight wouldnt be an issue would you pick the Judge. I fully agree with Nutns OPT. Plus riffled barrel good luck out side of 10yards.
its a very great hard hitting pistol... Just make sure your targets only a few feet away or else you,ll fire all 5 shots out before you actually hit it
If I lived on a ranch, and that ranch had a huge problem with snakes, then I think I would get one. Other than that I don't see why the Bond Arms derringer isn't enough anti-snake power.
Man i live in texas, and i have never had to shoot a snake. When i am forced to kill a snake all i do is cut its head off with a shovel. Its a lot cheaper, but i still understand what he means, a more expensive and a little safer to kill a snake. Still i think the judge is more a novelty gun and a conversation piece than anything else.
I have a slingshot for snakes, That works fine for me. No noises lots of ammo , pebbles work fine to kill snakes. My wife thinks its better than waisting a shell on a snake. I have to agree. Learning to master a slingshot is a nice skill if the world ends . I have taken squirrels with my crossman slingshot using pebbles. Just a thought, not a gun but lite and unlimited ammo is my point.......
@RealNigga583 Nutn doesn't consider "fighting on YouTube" to be evidence of anything. He's out in the desert shooting while you sit on your fat ass trolling his channel. Yeah. -- Veri
@nutnfancy You've reviews can be summed up in one of two sentences: This gun is great beacause it is a glock. This guns sucks because it is not a glock.
We get it. YOU LIKE GLOCK. Go back out in the the desert and stop making reviews.
Respond to this video... Headshot at 25 yards... Dude, if someone is 25 yards away you are not defending yourself, you are assassination someone. Let the poor fool run away. And yes, this is my third post and I am trolling you. Go ahead, set your sister on me.
@RealNigga583 Lol I have fired it bud. I have actually seen 45LC bullets knuckle out of the barrel, hitting the target sideways. Is the judge a cool gun? Ya for sure, but the point of nutnfancy's opinion is that the Judge is not a realistic concealed carry gun. If you want to stick that inside your pants or on an ankle holster and you find that comfortable....than yes, you are much more of a MAN than the rest of us. As I said, the 410 is fun, and may provide close range defense.
@RealNigga583 Wow. Way to sound ignorant, "RealNigga". His point was that the Judge, while a "cool" gun, is a big compromise, that's all. Each of the judge's applications can be done a lot better by another weapon. Obviously you can carry it on your person unconcealed, you could carry a Desert Eagle .50 too, nutnfancy's entire MO is about concealed carry. The Judge shoots .45LC inaccurately due to cylinder jump and shallow grooves. The 410 is cool, but why not a real shotgun for at home?
Blah, blah its big, blah blah, its not good for carry, blah blah its big, blah blah its not good for carry. This is like a broken record!!!
Seriously, what do you expect from something that freakin' shoots SHOTGUN ammo??!! Its a miniature shotgun for crying out loud!!! This is an ingenious idea and is PERFECT for home defense in tight quarters. Its a freakin miniature shotgun so of course its going to be a little larger than your average compact 9mm carry pistol. Jeez man LOL!!
I have 2 of them one in 3 inch and one in 6.5 inch barrel. I totally agree with Nutnfancy's review. Thumbs up. Good for a collection, good for a snake gun, and thats about it..
if i was to carry a gun, it would have to be a judge or a public defender just for piece of mind and if some perp did try and get me, he would shit himself at the size of the damn thing!
despite the fact that nutn has never shot the weapon before, he has the same issues with it when i shot it. Some people below are calling it the"best home defense tool" WHAT a .410 shotgun handgun being better than a 12 gauge. With home defense, it is not necessary to have a small weapon. so a handgun is not necessary. And, if for you a handgun is necessary, then a 9 mm or.40 or something like that is for you. it takes .45 lc.But it will not be better than a gun specifically made for 45lc.
Yea... sorry bro but you should at least fire one prior to pushing others away from it. This weapon is great for Home deffense and is a fantastic camping/trail gun. Click on my name and watch my video as I test the Winchester PDX rounds. they are killer and the Judge has a solid place in my collection. It is well made and deadly. Just my 4 cents worth :)
Obviously you don't know alot about handguns . I actually own a Taurus Judge along with 27 other handguns . The taurus judge is the absolute best self defense weapon on the market . Loaded with Winchester PDX ammo. I can tell you now that one shot will clear a room. You do not want to be infront of this gun when it is fired .As far as accuracy , I would be comfortable shooting an apple off of your head at 20 feet . I can hold a pattern the size of a golf ball at that range .
Hickok 45 does a much better review. He also proves its capable of hitting a gong at over 100 yards and a ram sized silhouette at about the same while holding low with the snub-nose 3 inch cylinder model so accuracy with 250 grain 45 colt is just fine. I don't know why there is so many bad shots or just plain lier's bad mouthing the guns accuracy. It probably does suffer some inconceivably minimal loss in accuracy but it shoots bullets through bullets at 25 yards so I didn't notice it.
@smartguy104 The gongs at 80 yards just saying. But I agree Hickok45 is a great reviewer. I also love Nutn's reviews but in my opinion he was a little harsh on this one. I believe this gun is more useful and effective than he says.
I rented one didn't like it much because it was to dam big for CCW. I shot it with 45 LC on a indoor range. It had soft easy to control recoil and despite the long cylinders it didn't seem to affect accuracy. The range only went to 50 yards. I didn't get to shoot any shot-shell through it. Range master said they did it and it took out a ceiling light and hit the floor as well as the target. The rifling just throws shot everywhere down range. But it does shoot 45 LC fine.
When this was posted there where no loads engineered and custom tailored to rifled 410 handguns. No need to get angry about his negative review at the time it wasn't all that great. I am surprised how far the 410 45LC handgun concept has gone in the last ten years. Now S&W, Magnum Research, Taurus, Bond Arms, American Derringer, Cobra enterprises (in fact to many small derringer companies to list) now make guns that couple 410 and 45 LC, and a few can shoot 45 acp.
This review is buying a blender and before opening the box saying "well it can't make a good shake"... How about you "plug" it in and try it then tape the review.
The reason Nutnfancy can do a review of a gun he hasn't shot? Just watch all of his reviews! it would take weeks to watch them all, HE'S GOOD AT IT. he can do a better review of a gun he's never shot than some people could with a gun they shoot at least once a week for years. (just my opinion of course )
Nut said he thinks it will be a good snake gun. Well I met some people, that can be best described as snakes. Thats it my mind is made up! I'm gonna buy one. Thanks Nutnfancy!
the dude says if its purely a shotgun proposition there'd be no rifling. the rifling in this pistol further increases shot spread at close range so there is a purpose for that
Hey. You call people names and you carry a gun? How friggin
unprofessional. Dude.I hope you have a cool head when it comes to a heated situation. Nutn Fancy is just giving you his opinion. Not everyone likes the same thing. If they did it would be a boring World. Have you ever heard the phrase? Different strokes for different folks. Do more research and make your own decision. Dont bank on one persons opinion/review.
The smaller Taurus Judge is the Public Defender. Smaller gun. I wonder what Nutn thinks about the new Judge. This gun is unique. 410 or 45 long. What other handgun offers that option? Its a small shotgun for close up or home self defense. You have more room for accuracy for adrenalin pumped self defense situations which usually take place within 10 to 20 feet. I have many guns and I am considering purchasing the Public Defender. Looking for more info on it. I am a big Fan of your videos.
Yeah! the public defender is smaller! I shot the 45 long colt with the judge and I was pretty accurate at around 15 yards. So, in conclusion I believe the public defender for personal defense it is an excellent gun to own.
First, just cuz I'm a smartass..... Don't spend the first 5 minutes telling me how your going to keep the review short and simple. Doesn't quite work.
As for the review... solid review. I do disagree though about it's usefulness. I'm primarily concerned with home protection, and to that, it seems perfect. If your half asleep and someone breaks in... it would be nice to know when you point and shoot, your gonna hit something. :) Shotgun in a handgun = Awesome
to large huh? maybe because you have one of the larger ones. Like saying a glock 30 comparing all glocks to that size and saying there to large for carry. Hmmm how about the public defender.
@nutnfancy after all of your videos, after all your reviews, all of your experience and all the good info, i dont think i can trust you I know i can trust you, once you shot it i know more info is going to come, keep it up.
@tray772983 by looking at the performance on other videos and the knowledge of the power of a 410 being inadequate to stop person dead in his tracks due to lack of penetration to the vitals and skull (specially in a "3 barrel. That's how.
You don't have to shoot a gun to know whether or not its practical. That is the whole point of nutnfancy's table tops. This gun is really not practical. I have shot it myself. It is a really fun weapon, but his review is dead on. At the end of the day, I'd rather be shooting a 9mm or greater JHP for personal defense.
Nutnfancy is reviewing the Hammerless, Versus Hickok45 using the Hammered judge. Plain and simple, but a big difference. They are two totally different systems.
This guy is a dork. I have 2 of them and love them. Its all in what ya want. he talks about how big it is, stop being a pussy he's the type of guy that want a small .22 cause he cant handle the recoil. guys dont listen to this guy. I work at a gun shop and we cant keep them in stock. Its a great gun this guy is just a big pussy.
I gotta suggest that this particular review may need an update to bring it up to current TNP standards. (Cf. the redone Kershaw Skyline review.) I scoffed at the Judge myself, but the Hickok45 shooting vid & review is quite thought provoking. It shifted my view of the Judge.
Some of the new .410 buckshot loads made for this gun performed very well in his shooting, patterning tightly and consistently at 7 yards. Also, he got solid accuracy with the .45 Colt rounds out to 25 yards and beyond.
The Judge can hit a man sized target at 100 yards every time with 45 Colt ammunition. Yes there are many more accurate handguns out there but the Judge is more than accurate enough, and plenty powerful with 000buck loads or 45 Colt loads. I am sick of people saying the Judge isn't accurate enough.
I would like you to review this again after shooting it some. I think you may feel diffenent after some range time. There is a new GREAT round out there called the PDX1... This is a stack of 3 disks along with 12 BB's. I dont know about carry as the size is a bit much. You are very right there. But Guns are like tools. You carry the correct tool for the needed job. This would make a great camping, hiking weapon. Home or even car gun. Something close.
Very nice review, i like the whole appearance of the gun it is very impressive gun, but you are very right about the effective range. In my opinion it all depends on how much you practice with the weapon, I saw a guy in utube shooting from 2 to 3 feet from target, what an ass. I think this weapon will attract mostly new gun owner as the appearance is masculine and revolvers do appeal the guys who like western cow boy movies. Thank you for your review
I Watched Your Video because I Am Thinking Of Buying The Public Defender Ultra. I Know You Did Not Shoot this Firearm But You Gave Much Information On It. . It Just looks That For What Ever Reason You Hold A Hostage On This Firearm. Reason Is When You First Start This Review --You Say-Its Used-So Someone Did Not Want it Any More-???? Lets Face it, You Will Find Any Firearm For Sale Used---Any--If That Means They Are No Good,, I Will Buy The Defender---And Use it.
How much better will the 6'' Raging Judge Magnum hold a shot pattern than the 2'' Judge models? It may also prove more accurate with .454 casul rounds since they are longer than .45lc rounds and therefore travel less distance before engaging rifling! The RJ Magnum obviously has a different POU, more for handgun hunting than self defense. I would like to see a shooting vid of it's accuracy...with a scope it SEEMS it might be ideal for hunters like myself! I need more info on it first though.
Fans of the Judge are pretty ''hard core'' in their support of this firearm so Nutn is bound to generate some controvesy with this vid...I personally like the IDEA of this gun, but am not sold on it's practicality. I think Nutn gave (as allways) a fair tabletop review here. As others have stated Hickock45 was able to perform accurately with one...but then again, he can shoot accurately with a ''baby Glock'' at 80yrds, a skill beyond most (myself included).
I'm finding it hard to find a test of these 410 defensive rounds in ballistic gel. I think people will be disappointed. the Judge is not a 410 shotgun. It looks good on a paper target, but the velocities just have to be lower from the short barrel which is bound to reduce effectiveness vs a good hollow point.
The 00 and 000 buckshot pellets had about a one inch spread at 7 yards.
With #7 buckshot, you have an excellent snake gun.
With 000 buckshot, you have a self defense gun that far outstrips any other handgun on the market AT HOUSEHOLD RANGES. I personally don't know many people with 20 yard plus hallways.
I don't know, but it seems like you're acting like you only have two loads available to you, #7 bird shot and .45LC. Every gun has its limitations, this one is hard (not impossible) to conceal

YOU HAVEN'T SHOT THE GUN YOU ARE REVIEWING!?!?
I like the nutnfancy reviews, but don't rag on a gun and say that it isn't accurate or suited for defense if you haven't tried it out. I come to YOUR reviews because I want YOUR opinion on how the gun works. I do NOT want the collection of reviews that you have read. I'm not even a Judge fan myself, but at least I gave it a fair chance.
Maruader25 5 days ago
I agree with the post, but a 410 depending on the round won't go through walls as easy, makes for a good home defense gun and maybe ccw. I like the smith and Wesson gov better. In my opinion we often forget bullets go through cars, people, and walls. It might not be a GTW gun, but every tool has a purpose.
bkitchen0406 2 weeks ago
Wtg2989 I more talking about the dudes that use the 45 long colt not 410. Basically all I'm trying to say is I think you have a little more options with a different weapon. That was just an example. I aint saying it's not accurate or a bad gun cuse I have one
thecntryboy42 2 weeks ago
I'm with you nutnfancy. It's to much no need for it. If u want big impressive go with a 44 mag 357mag and you get more ammo and accuracy. It's a cool gun but I would use it for self defense. There's not to many options. Good video
thecntryboy42 2 weeks ago
@thecntryboy42 How is a 44 mag more accurate? The Judge was designed to hit. Hence the shotgun shells.
wtg2989 2 weeks ago
i wonder how durable it is. back in the day taurus had a bad rep. i mentioned the name around my dad and he said dont simply because of his experiance. but within the last ew years they aparently (especially with their revolvers) have went up in the world when it comes to quality.
but will it last 10000 rounds with god care?
choopdewoot 2 weeks ago
Guys don't believe everything you hear about this gun. Try it for yourself and see what you think. It gets a lot of criticism that is based on lies.
wtg2989 2 weeks ago
Another thing is that this gun is conceilable. Judges carry this gun all the time. That is where this gun got it's name.
southboy99 2 weeks ago
Don't see how you could do a review without any research or even shooting the gun. But I shot 000 buck ammo through ballistics gel and one shot is like geting hit by 3 9mm bullets. I can hit a target at 60 yards with .45lc. Shoot it for yourself.
southboy99 2 weeks ago
Just a little too long winded, couldn't sit through it.

I think that this gun is great for having in your car. I love shooting it worth the money
devere84 3 weeks ago
POU- Car gun-so you don't have to send 357 magnum rounds flying through downtown windows when you get carjacked at knife/gun point. Home defense-so you can keep a loaded weapon in your night stand and not have to worry about 9mm rounds bashing through drywall and into your loved ones rooms that are down the hall. Shoot the gun before you review it.
osudude1313 3 weeks ago
As for shooting shot shells thru it, i dont recommend using shot shells for any ranges over 10 yards, but also like the LC45, with practice you can make buck shot and slugs reach out alittle further. recoil is next to nothing for anyone that has a pair. ammo versatility is awesome. you have the ability to shoot (thru some models) 454CASULL, LC45, BIRDSHOT, BUCKSHOT, SLUGS, DRAGONS BREATH, BOLO ROUNDS, FELECET ROUNDS, and any other 410 shot shell that exists out there.
cbsmoraine 3 weeks ago
@cbsmoraine You think the PDX1 is an adequate self defense round?
wtg2989 2 weeks ago
@wtg2989 I would say depends on the situation. For the car, sure. conceal carry or home, probably not. Ive only shot it a few times. It wasnt something that WOW'd me. buck shot, or 45LC are the rounds i personally stick with for personal defence. They serve my needs. but to each thier own.
cbsmoraine 1 week ago
@cbsmoraine Well, if it's good enough to stop a dude trying to rob your car then it should be good enough to stop a dude trying to rob your house.
wtg2989 1 week ago
@wtg2989 yes and no, with anything, it depends alot on the situation. if live in a very large open floor plan home, shooting from up stairs to down, probably not to effective. if i live in a single wide trailer, then i souldn't have a problem shooting the bad guy.
cbsmoraine 1 week ago
@cbsmoraine OK so one extreme to the other? Walk off the distance from the doorway to the back of a room in most homes and you will see that it is within effective range of the buckshot and/or PDX1 rounds. Maybe your house is an exception but most houses (don't have to be trailers) have the ideal set up.
wtg2989 1 week ago

I dont think ive ever seen a .410 in any video game....they offer a very unrealistic view of how firearms (or combat) really is.
Saigax12 1 month ago
I don't own this gun but I've shot it several times. Having said this, I would not do a review of a gun without firing it at the range and without conducting some standard tests. It's like writing a review of an automobile and not having driven it. Your review lacks credibility.
opadennis 1 month ago
great video, big fan of the TNP, you are dead on with your evalution on the uses, it is a fantastic snake gun (if you can't tell by my screen name I live in Texas) but I see find a .38, 9mm or a .45 acp with snake shot will give the same results while giving you the versitilly of a real handgun. I'ts hard to argue with a person who thinks it is a "cool" gun, that person will reject logic. Taurus has a winner and they know it,
texasdustfart 2 months ago
You have no idea what you're talking about. I've been packing a judge on me every day for almost a year now and I fell naked without it. As for the accuracy of this gun take it out and soot it, It will speak for it self.
kathy102358 2 months ago

The POU that Taurus promotes is more like "car gun." They specifically say that the rifling is to make .410 pellets spread faster, and yes, it is very much a close-range gun.
Of course, this review is old enough that they could have changed their marketing in response to criticism.

TheJedi270 4 months ago
@TheJedi270 You can not JUDGE guns by brand names, maybe to an extent but I personally believe you should individually rank handguns. All of those mentioned make many diff. types of handguns. Just because you had an issue with one Glock doesn't mean all Glocks suck. I've had nothing but good experience with my 19 and my 30. Think it through before you JUDGE. haha
ekserchina 1 month ago
@ekserchina I respect your opinion you should respect mine to each their own is how I see it. For me Glock is the epitomy of the k.i.s.s. theory keep it simple stupid. but in my personal experience through law enforcement Glock was a huge let down broken firing pins weak recoil springs etc. and getting service is a pain in the ass. It breaks down to $65.00 per gun for them to build and sell at $400.00. I just dont like plastic guns. i did say above it's not fair it's just me.
TheJedi270 1 month ago
As I do respect ur opinion also. But defensive use? in the home it's fine. Like tactical .22 lr is fine as well for that purpose a .22lr will drop a burglars lung quite well. Not everybody usung a weapon for defense will EDC the weapon. EDC I agree with you completely. But there are other uses for handguns other than daily carry. Keeping under the truck seat yeah. Holster concealment lol nah. But.... it's lack of concealability dosn't hurt it's quality or uses to many.

Another P.O.U. for this gun is a woods gun/ or asome what survival gun. .45 L.C. for defense like bears if you have a hot enough load, or .410 for survival hunting small game rabbits, squirrels, grouse...
Cigarsoapbox 5 months ago
To be completely honest, he is correct. I use mine strictly for fun. Self defense, no way. My full size 1911 is easier to carry.
TakeDetour 5 months ago
@TakeDetour and why not for self defense?? the original Judge was never intended for conceal carry(way too big) but the Public Defender weights less than most pistols..At 20.7 oz it weights less then my s&w 40..
zeusdog34 5 months ago
At the time I had a fairly low opinion till I found out that the buckshot loads actually don't fly all over the place and pattern well out to 25 yards. Even thought the Pdx1 has some stray BB pellets after 10 feet those discs group real well on target out to 25 yards but not to far past that.

ghostie234 5 months ago 3
the public defender version is made to carry, the original 3 inch barrel (as shown in the video) was made for a car defense gun, if you're going to "judge" the gun on the ability to carry, you should at least review the carry model, the public defender.. hickok45 had great accuracy with the 45 colt at a long distance, but i guess thats the difference you get, when the reviewer actually shoots the gun before giving a crappy review. Try shooting the gun, and then make a video
mrkm715 5 months ago 10

TheRealTDawg 6 months ago
I used to own a Taurus Judge with the 3" barrel, and 3" chamber for the magnum 410 rounds. Great revolver, and main use is for self defense, but it is fun to take to the range and shoot close range targets with, however firing 3" magnum 410 shells gets really hard on the wrist very fast, the .45LC isn't bad at all, and neither are the 2-1/2" 410 shells. However given a self defense situation its nice to have the ability to shoot 410 or 45LC. or mixing them together randomly in the cylinder.

Its hard to make the time to watch all of his videos, so I can understand how its much harder for him to have the time to make them. bigboss241993 6 months ago

There are simply much better choices for edc, self defense and home defense.
J1613R 7 months ago
I beg to differ how can you compare this to a subcompact concealed weapon. Its's not! May also make a good home defense gun. I mean look at the 410 OO shot and it's not going through your house walls into your neighbors house. The 45 caliber has more stopping power than your 9mm, 10mm and 40 calibers and used indoors with glaser or gold dot would be an excellent choice of a defense weapon..
bassiclogic 7 months ago
For someone who has not shot the Judge, you act as if you are an expert. A 3” Magnum .410 (000 buckshot) round has 5 pellets of .36 caliber, 70 grains each and is about twice as effective as a .40 caliber S&W. It will blow a large hole in a 2x4 at 10 feet. The Judge is my primary home defense tool. Round #1 is #4 shot, Rd 2 is #4 buck, Rd 3 & 4 are 000 buck and Rd 5 is a magnum slug. The magnum rounds have a lot more powder thus giving more punch.

If I lived on a ranch, and that ranch had a huge problem with snakes, then I think I would get one. Other than that I don't see why the Bond Arms derringer isn't enough anti-snake power.

good review......every body love that gun , but only because look great , but is not very usefull exceptly close range and snakes...
nachito1918 7 months ago
Man i live in texas, and i have never had to shoot a snake. When i am forced to kill a snake all i do is cut its head off with a shovel. Its a lot cheaper, but i still understand what he means, a more expensive and a little safer to kill a snake. Still i think the judge is more a novelty gun and a conversation piece than anything else.
BDSMmask 7 months ago
The way I see it is the POU is better with the 6" barrel, but then again, hard to carry.
Zitro139 7 months ago
I have a slingshot for snakes, That works fine for me. No noises lots of ammo , pebbles work fine to kill snakes. My wife thinks its better than waisting a shell on a snake. I have to agree. Learning to master a slingshot is a nice skill if the world ends . I have taken squirrels with my crossman slingshot using pebbles. Just a thought, not a gun but lite and unlimited ammo is my point.......

@nutnfancy You've reviews can be summed up in one of two sentences: This gun is great beacause it is a glock. This guns sucks because it is not a glock.
We get it. YOU LIKE GLOCK. Go back out in the the desert and stop making reviews.

nutnfancy 7 months ago
@RealNigga583 Lol I have fired it bud. I have actually seen 45LC bullets knuckle out of the barrel, hitting the target sideways. Is the judge a cool gun? Ya for sure, but the point of nutnfancy's opinion is that the Judge is not a realistic concealed carry gun. If you want to stick that inside your pants or on an ankle holster and you find that comfortable....than yes, you are much more of a MAN than the rest of us. As I said, the 410 is fun, and may provide close range defense.
yahtzee4u 7 months ago
@RealNigga583 Wow. Way to sound ignorant, "RealNigga". His point was that the Judge, while a "cool" gun, is a big compromise, that's all. Each of the judge's applications can be done a lot better by another weapon. Obviously you can carry it on your person unconcealed, you could carry a Desert Eagle .50 too, nutnfancy's entire MO is about concealed carry. The Judge shoots .45LC inaccurately due to cylinder jump and shallow grooves. The 410 is cool, but why not a real shotgun for at home?
yahtzee4u 7 months ago
Thanks for the upload, I love the gun despite the naysayers!

Jeez man LOL!!

if i was to carry a gun, it would have to be a judge or a public defender just for piece of mind and if some perp did try and get me, he would shit himself at the size of the damn thing!
brainiestben 8 months ago
despite the fact that nutn has never shot the weapon before, he has the same issues with it when i shot it. Some people below are calling it the"best home defense tool" WHAT a .410 shotgun handgun being better than a 12 gauge. With home defense, it is not necessary to have a small weapon. so a handgun is not necessary. And, if for you a handgun is necessary, then a 9 mm or.40 or something like that is for you. it takes .45 lc.But it will not be better than a gun specifically made for 45lc.
mcmikeblues 8 months ago
Yea... sorry bro but you should at least fire one prior to pushing others away from it. This weapon is great for Home deffense and is a fantastic camping/trail gun. Click on my name and watch my video as I test the Winchester PDX rounds. they are killer and the Judge has a solid place in my collection. It is well made and deadly. Just my 4 cents worth :)
LMSTactical 8 months ago
Obviously you don't know alot about handguns . I actually own a Taurus Judge along with 27 other handguns . The taurus judge is the absolute best self defense weapon on the market . Loaded with Winchester PDX ammo. I can tell you now that one shot will clear a room. You do not want to be infront of this gun when it is fired .As far as accuracy , I would be comfortable shooting an apple off of your head at 20 feet . I can hold a pattern the size of a golf ball at that range .
jamesspoon 8 months ago
Hickok 45 does a much better review. He also proves its capable of hitting a gong at over 100 yards and a ram sized silhouette at about the same while holding low with the snub-nose 3 inch cylinder model so accuracy with 250 grain 45 colt is just fine. I don't know why there is so many bad shots or just plain lier's bad mouthing the guns accuracy. It probably does suffer some inconceivably minimal loss in accuracy but it shoots bullets through bullets at 25 yards so I didn't notice it.
smartguy104 8 months ago 3
@smartguy104 The gongs at 80 yards just saying. But I agree Hickok45 is a great reviewer. I also love Nutn's reviews but in my opinion he was a little harsh on this one. I believe this gun is more useful and effective than he says.
Sting3733 6 months ago 2
I rented one didn't like it much because it was to dam big for CCW. I shot it with 45 LC on a indoor range. It had soft easy to control recoil and despite the long cylinders it didn't seem to affect accuracy. The range only went to 50 yards. I didn't get to shoot any shot-shell through it. Range master said they did it and it took out a ceiling light and hit the floor as well as the target. The rifling just throws shot everywhere down range. But it does shoot 45 LC fine.
smartguy104 8 months ago
When this was posted there where no loads engineered and custom tailored to rifled 410 handguns. No need to get angry about his negative review at the time it wasn't all that great. I am surprised how far the 410 45LC handgun concept has gone in the last ten years. Now S&W, Magnum Research, Taurus, Bond Arms, American Derringer, Cobra enterprises (in fact to many small derringer companies to list) now make guns that couple 410 and 45 LC, and a few can shoot 45 acp.

The reason Nutnfancy can do a review of a gun he hasn't shot? Just watch all of his reviews! it would take weeks to watch them all, HE'S GOOD AT IT. he can do a better review of a gun he's never shot than some people could with a gun they shoot at least once a week for years. Flashvette 10 months ago
Flashvette 10 months ago
Yeah! the public defender is smaller! I shot the 45 long colt with the judge and I was pretty accurate at around 15 yards. So, in conclusion I believe the public defender for personal defense it is an excellent gun to own.
MrCaliforniaLivin 9 months ago
The .45 long colt is good past short range, at least Hickock45 doesn't seem to have a problem.

:) Shotgun in a handgun = Awesome

belzach 8 months ago
@tray772983 by looking at the performance on other videos and the knowledge of the power of a 410 being inadequate to stop person dead in his tracks due to lack of penetration to the vitals and skull (specially in a "3 barrel. That's how.
mrbratsch 9 months ago
@tray772983

Something close.

so you havent shot the gun, and your doing a review????
deadsailor13 10 months ago
Very nice review, i like the whole appearance of the gun it is very impressive gun, but you are very right about the effective range. In my opinion it all depends on how much you practice with the weapon, I saw a guy in utube shooting from 2 to 3 feet from target, what an ass. I think this weapon will attract mostly new gun owner as the appearance is masculine and revolvers do appeal the guys who like western cow boy movies. Thank you for your review

BrianReisbeck 10 months ago
Fans of the Judge are pretty ''hard core'' in their support of this firearm so Nutn is bound to generate some controvesy with this vid...I personally like the IDEA of this gun, but am not sold on it's practicality. I think Nutn gave (as allways) a fair tabletop review here. As others have stated Hickock45 was able to perform accurately with one...but then again, he can shoot accurately with a ''baby Glock'' at 80yrds, a skill beyond most (myself included).
P.S. Please put VERI on camera! :)
