Don't get defensive when people give you constructive criticism. The drummer is pushing the beat too much. He needs to practice with a metronome. You'll see a huge different if he does. Even the pros play live with metronomes.
Don't get me wrong here; I'm not getting defensive over an amateur drummer. I'm just saying that I played our version alongside the newsboys studio recording, and the tempo was identical. Fills were poorly constructed and sometimes off time, but the beat was not pushed. The beat remained constant
You don't understand the difference between rushing/pushing the beat and playing at a given tempo. Just because the tempo is the same doesn't mean the beat is not being rushed or pushed. It's about the feel of the beat, not the tempo.

drums were off. too off, when he would go on the tom toms he qould get off beat. still good try though. God Bless.
Ps. i play drums i know what he did rong. everyone her is kinda right about the off beat.
