  • Thanks mate your a lifesaver!

  • easy, pva, 1st coat wait 10 mins 2nd coat wait 10 mins dry trowel dry drowel wet trowel wet trowel dry trowel

  • very useful, you make it look so natural, maybe in 20 years i'll be that good

  • lol I just punched my wall

  • Thanks fella, I'll give my bathroom a try now!

  • One coat always cracks in time, always always always!

  • i rarely put two coats on unless very bad wall why two coats and i still get my marbel finish with the on coat learnt from a book. trick is to be confident and wait for tacky then smooth

  • Thanks Paul,

your video has enabled me to plaster my garage to a quite good finish... first job I've ever attempted. You are a very good teacher.. thanks again!

  • wished i'd watched this before!....tell me, how come you didnt drop half of it on the floor like i did? ;)

  • It help a lot for a beginner like me. Videos like this is why i like YOUTUBE.G8T job SKIMDIY. Saves a lot of my money by doing thing myself.

  • first of all you need to have a trowel thats been broken in before you can attempt any type of fine coat finish ,buying one from a diy store or buildres merchant even if it says broken in,will not give you a very good finish,so before you even attempt it try and borrow one from a plasterer.

  • my room has suffered a lot of damp due to a leaky radiator. i think this has caused some of the plaster in here to come loose away from the walls. will i have to remove all loose plaster before adding new plaster on top?

  • @infraball Yes. If you don't, you're at risk of the new plaster being pulled from the wall or bubbling as a result of trapped air.

Better to remove and re-do :)

  • I watched this video - the guy does actually know how to explain a technique and having now plastered my first room I consider I have learned a lot from this video - thanks for your time.

  • yuo have to use a pool traul for smooth finish and explein the tdiferens about the meterias. so the materials , the tool, and plaster make the job, no the video

  • plastering is 1 of those things, you either have it or you dont

    came naturally to me :)

  • More plastering and less talking, please!

  • Last time I heard, the economy is Gray. But a plastered Gray wall!!! That is about as UGLY as a blue board, "plaster bd" before it is plastered white with a beautiful design by an expert. Have a good one..

  • cheers mate - ill give it a bash now :)

  • Just wondering, is it my PC or are you applying a weird color of plaster on the wall???? In the USA, or I'll say around where I live, ALL plaster is white. When you get your walls done, it makes a beautiful job. Don't have to paint unless you want a different color... Good job

  • @162386cba mmm grey? that will match your economy right at the moment then lol.

  • Helped a Lot thanks

  • hi im paul n i cant plaster a wall

  • dont listen to dis tit .start at the left not the middle n that mix is well stiff ,maybe he got tennis elbow ha well sooooooon.

  • @johnnymucky retard! listen to what he said at the start......

  • whenever im feeling down i watch this video and after 30sec im all happy and laughing again. them arms look like they couldnt last a day let alone 48 days solid.. YES 48 DAYS... proper plastering. 20 min work then wait 30 min then another 20 min then wait again. 15 trailing up then wait for 3 hours for hard trail IT AINT FUCKING HARD....

  • What I what to know is why so call professionals are watching these videos? If they know so much about it why watch them! Also he ment that you mix PVA with water you would know that if you were a plasterer (I know that and I'm not one!). It would be stupid to put raw PVA on the wall!

  • @lukeboy94yo are you deaf he said control suction by water OR PVA. words make the world go round- make sure you use them correctly. By the way this fella aint worth a wank. fuck me it would take about 30 sec to 1st coat that wall...Enoughtme to go and have a smoke ,cup of tea and read the paper. so your telling me you put 2 coats and its still 3 mm thick. PLASTER COMPRESSES DOWN TO 6-7MM AFTER IT HAS DRIED. SO YOU WORK OUT HOW THICK IT HAS TO BE PUT ON CONSIDERING IT SHRINKS 25%

  • @Durs5 Just to let you know, I wasn't going on about anything you mentioned there! If you could read I said why would professionals watch this video and that you mix PVA with water! So god knows, why you're going on about something completely different to what I wrote! Your also not worth the hassle yourself because you clearly, are just looking for a argument, especially using vile and offensive language like that. So please find someone of your standards to argue with! Have a nice day.

  • Cheers...very helpful.

  • Paul you aint no feckin plasterer! haha

  • @LeadSmelter69 hahaha feckin...one4 of my faviroute words

  • I really thought I was going to see some plastering!

  • wouldnt have you working with me, you call that 2 coats? cowboy!

  • yeah it helped alot actually cheers im from Rugby and they have just made a new college and they don't even have a plastering course :s but i found a college which is pretty close to my house anyway just a bit futher away im on the course for september cheers mate ;)

  • @MaXmIdLaNdS no problam m8y hope you enjoy it

  • hi can anyone help i want a career in this but i don't know where to train or practise there are no courses or anything so i'm pretty much stuck atm?

  • @MaXmIdLaNdS hi m8 i am 14 years old looking farward to be a builder but i couldent find anyware to do it at and i fount a place called rodbaston i think they do it at local areas in places hope this helps

  • Comment removed

  • @MaXmIdLaNdS TEACH YOURSELF KID. QUALIFICATIONS AINT WORTH THE PAPER THEIR ON. i did and take a grand a week home sometimes more if i do a sat morning.. good luck....

  • brings tears to my eyes watchin dis! that a boy brian!

  • dats it brian you know your stuff !!

    isnt that right mchugh

  • if i want 4 walls plastered in one room, how long would it take? because i'm going to have to share a room with my mum? :|

  • @loveresievil4 2 hours a gauge. mabey 1 gauge,mabey 2 if u hardle angle.more 2 the point aday.

  • @loveresievil4 it takes about a day to get a room with 4 walls fully plastered.

  • GREAT STUFF THANKS FOR YOUR TIME....

  • Excellent videos BTW thank you. You can read about the steps in a book, but there's no substitute for seeing the trowelling technique in a video.

Dur5, I think you have 'issues'. Perhaps you should seek anger management counselling?

  • I've got holes in walls where the 1960's plaster has crumbled and fallen out. I think a fair amount of stuff is going to come out from one wall in the bathroom. Its quite deep holes

  • plastering the wall is so much harder than applying makeup on my face

  • i found this helpfull as ive been doing my bathroom the only problem i found was the plaster was going hard on the mixing table but ended up doing a smaller mix as you need to be fast throwing this on any tips please on keeping the mix last a bit longer thanx i am new and never ever done this before thanx

  • HAHAHA, This Durs5 ol fart cant stop talking about how much cash he takes home... probably over compensating for something..... HAHAHA

Bitch bitch bitch.... that all he can do..... HAHAHAHA What a miserable ol fart....

  • @Durs5 no, im a joiner so not likely to be doing much plastering. hope you enjoyed ur holiday

  • @Durs5 ill admit i dont know how to plaster, hence watching this video. what does confuse me is in ur comments u say u take 200 quid a day, then in another comment you take home 1800 quid a week. What id like to know is you work 9 days a week?

  • @MrGavman1991 prick. average is £200 a day. but that week was £1800, but you feel free to pick up on a little point if it makes you feel better. me? i just got back from antigua for 3 weeks. so really? i couldnt care less what you say. plastered any castles lately?

  • should not use the same mix for the second coat should mix some fresh for laying down....tut tut tut.... call yourself a plasterer......

  • @steviegthatsme Learned that myth on your three day course did ya ?

  • WRONG NEVER USE WATER UNTIL THE FINAL TRAIL. EVER!!!!! been a plasterer 26 years and i hate it when i see plasterers doing it like this. put it on- leave it. 2nd coat leave it. then flatten. then water at the end. every hit is 3 hours. should take 5 min for a average coat over a wall. have a break!!

  • garethmur I totally agree with your comment. I am a financial adviser and fed up with sharp breath intakers who look at the area you live and quote accordingly to see how much they can rip you off for. I can diy most things except plastering but after watching this skimmed a whole wall that was bumpy for years and now..well we can now place a lamp nearby and see no more bumps. Great video instruction..cheers

  • Thanks for the Video, Don't mind the dorks making stupid comments, they obviously have nothing better to do. To those upset because they are in the trade for how ever many years, don't be stupid greedy morons, people who are inclined to DIY will usually find a way of getting the job done. Lucky for us there are people who don't mind sharing their knowledge... I'm an IT person but have done it all, I LOVE NOT HAVING TO PAY A FORTUNE TO GET SOMEONE ELSE TO DO A CRAPPY JOB FOR ME! Thanks Again Dude

  • @garethmur bet your ceilings look crap though dont insult plasterers, when you can raise your arm above your head for 7 hours a day. and work in knightsbridge earning £200 a day. then you can voice a opinion. at the moment im doing a 68 bedroomed castle at £69,000 for the plastering. should be done by feb. so i work that out to be over £120,000 a year. maybe because i know what im doing.

  • Im not insulting you guys, just the oaks who have nothing better to do than to insult the DIY guys. We don't claim to know it all, and I HAVE BEEN RIPPED OFF WITH CRAP WORK BE4, SO I CAN COMMENT ABOUT MY EXPERIENCES... I also don't claim that all the jobs I do for my self are flawless, and like Duh! that's why we research the job first. only to see stupid comments by the oaks who cry "OH YOU TAKING OUR JOBS AWAY!" Boo Hoo!... & my research has shown that you oaks all have your own style

  • BTW, My first ceiling is only a few months away, and I can only hope its not gona look crap. But hey u insult the new guys all u want! I think you should stick to insulting the oaks who deserve it like you did that Simonsieb dude. I have the up most respect for any1 who is willing 2 share their knowledge. And I really don't care how much cash you make doing your job. I save that much doing it my self... I don't know you Maybe you don't know what you r doing, jus screwing ppl for cash?

  • This man make perfect sense try it yourself first in my experience all plasters are fucking brain dead anyway and even as children could not put two Lego bricks together and this is why they have to fall back on rubbing a wall up and down all day its a break from licking windows!!!!!!! the doppy muppets. NEVER TRUST A PLASTER

  • Comment removed

  • @Simonsieb1 your a cunt i take home £1800 a WEEK from plastering. that means turning up at 8 start at 9 finish at 4 clean up. and have time to have a smoke and learn another language at the same time. fucking dimwit? i aint had a mortage since i was 37. plank. YOUR THE CUNT WITH A MORTAGE BOWING TO YOUR BOSS COZ YOU HAVENT GOT A SKILL THAT PEOPLE everywhere WANT. I HAVE NEVER WORKED FOR SOMEONE ELSE. THATS WHY IM CALLED BOSS. AND I WOULD BOSS YOU AROUND- LIKE YOU GET EVERYDAY CUNT

  • fool, start from the bottom work your way up, wet the wall aha souther fairy fucking cowboy.

  • @LeonJC123 I`m confused, didn`t he advise Water/PVA on the wall?

  • all these so called pro plasterers making comments on here haha...........his plastering is fine, lets see everyone elses videos!

  • you should start in the top left hand corner of the wall if your right handed...you should pva wall first and start when glue is tacky..plaster don't become tacky ????

  • if i plastered like that i would probably b on rogue traders.if u need plastering done get a plasterer

  • An insult to my 30 years in the plastering trade.

I wonder if they do a diy bridge building video?

  • @petesnz innit. love these so called ego plasterers....... 26 years myself and dont use these techniques anymore. maybe thats why im £200 a day...

  • @Durs5 Thats funny I earned that 20 years ago. And I am serious. I can only imagine the quality that you produce!

  • What a wanker.!!! Put water on the wall.. Haha it will fucking blow of!!! Pva learn the game son

  • all these videos are all done by boarders and skimmers..... not one of them has put up a video of floating and skimming.... thus they are probably not PLASTERES... just skimmers

  • This is actually a good way of doing it, but only on the top, the better way to do it is to put it on the flor and then push it upwards, it saves tons of time and it actually does a better job than the usual way.

  • nice moves

  • Fantastic

  • I got told to do the top bits first. Then Just skim the wall as you work down. The Scratch coat doesnt have to be neat its the second skim. Right Handed (Top Left to Right) thats all you need to know about plastering lol

  • i prefer bob the builder

  • @michaelmurphy92 bob the builder? can he fix it???

  • nar hes better than ron the builder

  • Oh my god. A ron the builder wannabe

  • when did u start at the top is that new way they do it now. stay with the oldschool way bottom to top

  • what a terrible plastering demonstration! Very confusing. Just give us the basics Paul for god sakes! For all you novices out there that want to have a go and learn the basics check out Ron the bulder. Happy Days : )

  • irlandzcy skimersi sa bardzo dobrzy mało kto im dorówna!! Irish skimer are very few good match them!

  • A good greener in the plaster makes it set smoother, thats been a trade secret for years also if your doing a ceiling put the plaster on then rub a balloon on your head for 52 minutes and the static makes the plaster level.

  • @alfdoleboy do you use a party balloon, or a weather balloon?

  • @vallonia2000 no not a weather balloon silly mind u the boy in the video his heads that big hed need a weather balloon for that nogger.also forgot to say angel delight works just as good as plaster, use diffrent flavours for your desired colours thats been a plastering secret since 1254bc.hope i helped .ive been doing plastering for years but am retired now as ran out of greeners and went bald with the balloon rubbing, but i used my experience and have now plastered a wig to my head.

  • what's the best size trowel for this kind of job?

  • the best size of trowel is 4323 mm snoorlin trowel and always keep to the angle of 479 degrees.when applying the glue before coating listen to madonna on the cd player backwards this stops you from getting high.also wear a flurescent brown shellsuit as this stops dry rot in your knees,a common problem with plasterers.

  • i can do it another way and its easier plus i can do any color

  • you're over complicating it show people the procedure of skimming a wall, you're showing the second coat going on when you haven't even finished the first coat, you are confusing for beginners

  • you obviously just went on a plastering coarse.

  • I really wanna learn this. It 'looks' really easy, although im sure that it isn't. It also looks kind of theraputic, but then im strange like that. Platerers also get paid quite well, especially here in the UK. Any courses/general advice from anyone in teh know? Am i too old at 28 to look at learning this as a potential career?

  • Nope, you can just go to college, and do plastering. Theirs 3 levels. Level 1 covers Skimming on Plasterboard, rendering, you lean floating, all that stuffs. I'm doing level one, been doing it since September, so I know quite abit about Plastering.

  • Pretty much every house is plastered - a lot of Gib used internally , building is a bit slow at the moment, but that's sure to pick up

  • No , im in new zealand .. our plaster is white here also

  • Pink or brown.....im not fussy ;-)

  • didnt really mention anything about timing and wen its ready for second coat which is most important

  • the color of your plaster in this video looks light pink .. is that an additive, or just a normal all purpose you buy?. Plaster here is bleach white

    Thanks

  • @virus1972

Apparently their plaster in the uk is brownish which looks a bit odd for most of us...But then, the brits always have to do differently...that is why we like them.

  • hes english u idiots how does he sound like a yank ?

  • lol.

  • nice, my mom just told me to plaster her basement

    now i know

  • ha a would love to see the finished result of that im suprised u yanks know how to do this skill anymore all u lot do is fucking dry line every thing, i bet u dont know what a ''scratched backing coat is'' or sand and cement render

  • He wasn't a Yank .. He's a Pom lol!!

  • thanks.
