I can do this for about 30 seconds and walk pretty far, never tried more though. And my hand/wrist strength isn't really THAT strong. This mostly takes on your arms and back, so don't worry if you can't open a jar in your first try :D
Let's just say parkour is conditioning and training your body, if you do this alot your balance on rails will be great and you can climb skinnier things. Nice conditioning technique.
yeah, often it isn't however you should know that this is hardly ever used on flat rails, mostly when climbing up stairs without touching the actual steps. imagine you are have already vaulted onto a railing at the base of some stairs, the quickest way up those stairs is to stay on the railing and basicly "run" up them using this method.
I'm finding it hard to imagine the scenario you're describing, devon982. But if you're talking about the quickest way to go up stairs, it would simply be to run using your feet. Running is in general the fastest way for anything, assuming you can continue going straight with no obstacles. It's more dependent on each situation. But in the case of stairs, just skipping every other step or 2 will suffice. Cat balance is more to train your balance and know your body. It is still extremely crucial.
guys...it's a tecnique or a good way to practise ur full body?i really wanna know how to practise when u are a begginer to gain some skill and become more faithfull in yourself! :)
The guy probably considers clicking a mouse a workout. Anyone that does pushups on rails knows that it's not a simple task, takes practice, and knows what kind of work goes into anything involving balance.
I agree, well I havn't watched the video, I'm still letting it load a bit, but there's not point on complaining. Some people arn't gifted with natral, or even learned ballance. Personaly I have good balence but I've never been good at cat balanceing.
DONT try this on your own without EXTREME TRAINING
it's VERY DANGEROUS D:<
LIEK TOTALLY lol
seriously i thought everyone's done this already at the playground when they're like 3?

Wow, doesn't seem too difficult until you realize that you are balancing over (in some cases) 150 lbs with your hands only.
Also, this would be fucking intense to try on a flagpole hanging off a building about 10 stories up. o:

robby102938 2 years ago
its just an excercise to work on your balance i dont think it has any real use
camandoe 2 years ago
Yeah, but it gets used to get upon thin rails and such.. (without using stairs)
DigalySoftware 2 years ago

i cat balances across a log to get over a river the other day. i was pretty satisfied. Much easier that a round rail, but its still improving :)

interesting, I never would've imagined there would be so many technicalities one could work on

You suck major ballz. There's no need for a turorial for this. You just find a rail and do it. FFS.

Not true!
People have different levels of balance...
If one's low, this is a very good way to quickly enhance it.
Beside, why would you care to hiss it? He put time and work into it...

@SafeNSure its all about your eyesight and ears. bad eyesight bad judgement of distances of object and therefore leds to bad balance
