I like this video it is helpful because what she says is true! Other videos can *entertain* you with ideas on how to go about writing your book, but I read 'how to write' books for years and really,discipline, making writing a habit and not giving up is what gets you producing work. Writing *good* books is hard, and there is no way around it, unfortunately. This video has a good message, I think. You experience the sort of boredom you avoid when you watch t.v. instead of try to write. :-)

Writing a good book is one challenge but in order for a book to sell, the author must have an eye catching design and an attractive product. Otherwise nobody will pick it up off the shelf. I've been helping authors design books and designing the page layout. The results have been helpful. I have a few videos on my channel that might be helpful.

@Pianofreak161 Yes, it is natural to use many many notebooks when writing a novel. Especially when handwriting it. When typed, the font is smaller than that of one's handwriting, therefore the amount of pages written will be halfed or even more when typed up. It is best not to concern yourself with how many pages you have, however, and just write until you feel your novel is finished. Good luck!

Get's good around 2:00. That's when you can see exactly how the trick's done. Even better if you watch it back in slow motion....And yes, I would. Definitely. Little surprised she missed out the bit where you lie on the floor with your head in your heads, rocking back and forth, before your partner comes in and tells you it's 4:00am and you need to go to bed...at which point you pour one more drink and solve the whole plot line...Still a very good informative video.

I can agree that it's not a super informative video, in the way people want. I mean everyone wants to just sit down in front of a ten minute clip and suddenly have the ability to write a novel. Sorry, but it isn't going to happen. So, it's really unfair to say this wasn't informative, because it was. She did exactly what she said she would, explain how to write a novel. She didn't say she'd tell you how to write a good one.

But if you want to actually write a decent story, you do need exercises, story outlines, and character development.

People that write complete stories in notebooks have terrible first outlines, because they get too caught up in the act of write and less in the act of telling the story.

but really write what you find and try to incorporate this into your book.
