Peter put Paul's Epistles on the same level as Hebrew scriptures. 2Peter 3:15-16.."even as our beloved brother Paul...hath written unto you...his epistles... in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest as they do also the OTHER scriptures, unto their own destruction."
If only the Old Testament was considered scripture there would be no need to have the word "OTHER" in there. If the Epistles are not the "other" scriptures what is?
Are you honestly saying that we should not read the new testament? By what you say that means we discredit everything Jesus did / said.
I urge you to watch this video, skip to 26 minutes and listen to the possibilities it would take for a human being to write the new testament. (add youtubes address in front of it) /watch?v=9IGD6dewiNA
And watch this one for Old testament prophecies /watch?v=QGpvMeEb6mA
Very Interesting!! I actually agree with you about the scriptures. With the exception of John's vision in Rev, the NT is actually more of a "commentary" on the scriptures - a very valuable commentary! I disagree you about Paul and James disagreeing though.:) Not enough space here to explain fully, but you touch on it yourself when you say they both refer to the same OT example. What Paul calls "faith" James calls "works" (and so does Jesus!!) The "works of Abraham" IS FAITH IN ACTION.
