From there he raised himself in that apartment the Third gave him. Lots of fans think Naruto started the Academy early, and that's how he could've failed three times before he passed and got on Squad 7. Or maybe his mom did, but most fans think she died of child-birth or the Council idiots killed her.

Naruto's mom died at child birth b/c of the nine-tails, the nine-tails hurt her as she was trying to get away which cause her to give birth to Naruto a little early, then bleed to death. at least that's what i think
