If you're referring to New Order when you say "rely on sound machines like that other kind of music" than you don't know anything about the difficulty in making Blue Monday in 1983. First they had to actually compose the melody and write the lyrics like any other band. The electronic notes were done with Morse-like codes and you had to start all over again whenever you made a mistake. It was painfully time consuming and tedious, not easy like it is today.
