Harris is, as always, the fuckin' man... but John Hurt's deliriously over the top turn as the drunk (he is almost unrecognizable), I thought was excellent.
@joesoap81 And for the purposes of the plot in this particular film, the difference between the two is... ?
But seriously, I appreciate people who love cinema enough to point out distinctions such as that. In my defense, it has been twenty years since I have seen the whole film, outside isolated clips such as this on Youtube.
Great film, but some of the comments being left are disgustingly backwards. Anyone that truly understands what this film was about should see the ill effects of such zenophobic opinions. Anti-multiculturalism does not belong in modern Ireland.
@johnnyinches 'The Field' gets to the root of the question among that hapless class of people who subsisted off seriously poor land...'Does the Farmer own the Land or the Land own the Farmer'... Well there's an oxymoron.....
Anyone with a love of Irish gets the point that misspelled clichés are tokenism without substance. You rave about your culture and your heritage from behind your keyboard, which is grand for the yankydoodles who're happy with green beer and top o' da mornin' ta ya.
For those of us with an active interest in the language, slogans aren't enough and riling against 'da brits' is hollow and masturbatory. Incidentally, does da brits' include John Hurt and Séan Bean?
Saved this one. It's motivational

Fantastic performance by Harris, although the reference to the Fool in King Lear was a bot too obvious.
