They were both lip synched, which isn't a bad thing. Also, in reference to the video description, it's possible that he performed this in 1984. The Jacksons tour didn't start until July of that year. His album came out a few months before then.

There's two versions to this magnificent song, but this one is the most cherished and preferred one to sing along to. The original video to this lovely song, co-starring Iman, is dearly intimate and heart wrenching to watch. Jermaine truly did have a special bond with his younger MJ. We not only hear the bond in the songs they sang, but also in Jermaine's videos. MJ revolutionized videos as he embellished them with unique background stories for entertainment and Jermaine adapted to it also.

'Dynamite' is a fun pop song; you can hear that Jermaine was listening to Prince's '1999' album at the time (can you hear the 'Delerious' influence?)

Unfortunately, lip-syncing "performances" like this are such a shameful part of the music industry. The 'new sincerity' of the unplugged 90s helped to end this practice. I hope that we can relegate this to the past, as though we just didn't know better.

'Dynamite' is not specifically a fun pop song, 'Dynamite' is basically soul music with a little of electronic sounds and rock , similar in tempo to the Pointer Sister's "I'm so excited"
