  • When JA made this song it was the last era of true country music. Hopefully we will get back to it in the near future. Tho' Taylor Swift is good at what she does.. It ain't country.. don't know what it is but it ain't country as much of today's country music is far away from traditional country. Just because they put on a cowboy hat doesn't make'em country. Darius Rucker is far closer to being a real country singer...

  • cool

  • Great Singer and Performer. I attended many of his show's back in the 80's, always at small venues, he would just put on a show that you would never forget each time....Great Dude....

  • Always loved this song.

  • grew up to this guy, willie nelson, all them..

  • I dated Tom Morley . He is really one of the nices men I have ever met

Janis Biasatti Wiley Oct.21st,2011 7:05 Texas Time

  • Did anyone catch John playing Wild and Blue on Marty Stuart a few weeks ago? Sure would like to see that again.

  • @Satan I hate you for this.

  • Love me some John Anderson! Always have and always will!

  • What happen to all the band members? Do they still play with John?

  • Love this man!!

  • Was that the episode where they also had Conway Twitty on it?

  • sweet, i just quit shitting my diaper when this song came out !!!!!!!!! great music though i love it !!!!!!!! 1983 i was in in like 2nd grade

  • sweet, i just quit shitting my diaper when this song came out !!!!!!!!! great music though i love it !!!!!!!!

  • I have an employee who listens to basically nothing but rap. I played this song on the jobsite the other day and he loved it and wants to hear more of what I call "real country".

I hook up my iphone to our jobsite radio and it plays nothing but classic country, "Red Dirt", and outlaw country bc todays country is too watered down and it sounds like pop music malarkey.

  • Man, what a tune! Yessir! This is what Country Music is SUPPOSED TO SOUND LIKE!! Thank you for posting this!

  • @papawx3 so did you listen to charley pride? get a grip.

  • 2 kool 4 skool

  • This song reminds me of why I've got all these knife scares on my body. she hadd to have a partner to be wild and blue.

  • THIS IS REAL COUNTRY MUSIC BY THE MAN HIMSELF,JOHN ANDERSON,GOD BLESS HIM............TAHNKS FOR THIS POST.

  • John Anderson's vocal delivery is phenomenal!

Love his music and really dig this song.

  • Gets my nomination for "Best Misdirection Country Lyric." I'd never run across this song, just heard John do it today on Marty Stuart's RFD-TV show. I didn't see the punchline coming, and it just knocked me off my chair. It's squarely in the country music tradition of wordsmithing an everyday cliche (like "wild blue yonder") to get a new and ironical message. Just knocked me out. Great piece of work.

  • it reminds of James Shonshonie I luved him so much but he broke my heart.

  • Is that Jim Wolfe playing drums, I believe he played with a band called Peter and the Wolfe back in the 70's at some of the local clubs in Nashville.

  • My favorite cajun waltz- perfect for dancing. Love that fiddle.

  • This is great. It's a shame people have the nerve to call Rascall Flatts, Taylor Swift and lady Antebellum country. I grew up on this stuff. RIP true country 1936-2003

  • haha luv it

  • who is the fiddle player... that guy has great rhythm

  • His name's Tom Morley - he's currently playing with a traditional/Celtic

    group called Mithril.

  • @Txmusicam Well , it didn't take me long to find out... John Anderson had himself a real gym for a fiddle player... This guy knows his stuff... Mithril is fast becoming one of the most sought after Celtic/World music groups on the concert series scene.

  • @onstageagain Wow... that was quick... fast... I wasn't expecting that... thats cool. He was with John Anderson on so many of his shows back in the day. I see him a lot on the videos. I'll see if I can find him... how did you happen to know that? I'm in Ca.. originally from Memphis... but I've been a Anderson fan from the Swinging days.

  • @onstageagain Actually, I'd forgotten his name, but I remembered he was credited

on the Wild and Blue album (along with Buddy Spicher, who played fiddle on most

    of the early JA albums.)

  • Hee Haw is still on the RFD network and it is a good chance to see some real country music.

  • john anderson is the man

  • Great song check it out NO dislikes.. if someone changes that they like Justin Bieber

  • His BEST song Ever....

  • "They could just take you up yonder honey, you're already wild and blue", Hell Yeah I said it before, and By God I'll say it again: John Anderson is the Absolute Country Rockin' SHIT! • Just a good ole country boy and he sure can sang.

  • I love this & all of John,s songs,My wife &I saw him at Country Tonight in Pigeon Forge Tn. in 2009. We are great fans, need more like this.

  • The young man on the fiddle knows country music and John Anderson doesn't get the accolades he deserves.

  • Comment removed

  • I believe Charlie would be more country as far as there personal lives. John is more country when it comes to performing. That's just my opinion.

  • Do you think Charlie Daniels was true country like Anderson?

  • I love this song so much I just want to scream.

  • This song says a heck of lot.

  • im only 19.this was recorded 7 years before i was born, and i think John Anderson is one of the best of all time.he is one of my favorites.back when country was country

  • i got a two year old that loves this song he will sing along

  • when counntry was country

  • You got that right. The stuff today is NOWHERE near this good.

  • hey im only 15 and this is the bomb!!!!!

  • You know, for all the "hick" comments that were lobbed at Hee Haw(network TV country music show, for those not in the know), that show did something most others didn't: LIVE MUSIC, no lip-synching crap.....John Anderson is one of the under-appreciated greats in country music. Thanks for posting this clip up!

  • it got those comments for the ridiculous corny bullshit between the live music

  • @bowslap

There's actually a ton of lip syncing on Hee Haw.

I'm a big fan. But a good majority is lip synched.

  • @bowslap I cant understand why he gets no respect even in the country music scene. I went to a concert of his last year at a local county fair...I got there extra early so I could get good seats and couldnt help but overhear what half the people there were saying. Most of them seemed to have no clue who he was...they were just there for a free concert. That pissed me off so I had to move to the back which turned out to be a good idea. I ended up with way better seats directly facing the stage.

  • @bowslap You're right, bow. I absolutely DETEST lip-synchin', right, gang? Hit #1 in Billboard, Christmas '82. God bless!

  • @bowslap I've noticed in many of the early episodes, there is a lot of lip syncing. It's noticeable on the songs that fade out at the end. What has always confused me is, most artists would perform two songs on each show. One was with a live band, and many times the other song would be lip synced. I know this is true for the first few seasons. I will agree though, that Hee Haw, though silly, was great at providing excellent musical entertainment.

  • @bowslap so true John anderson sure could sing.

  • @bowslap People who didn't like Hee Haw didn't understand it.

  • @BethnJulia hey your write there

  • @bowslap he haw was and is better than the not so Grand Ole Opry which will alow just about anybody on now adays

  • WOW,,,,,,maybe these new fake country singers can listen to the voice of JOHN ANDERSON and learn what COUNTRY MUSIC IS!!! John is heart and soul COUNTRY MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think Josh Turner, Blake Shelton ,and Alan Jackson do a good job of keeping it country today. We still have George Strait, who was just barely getting his career going when this John Anderson song came out

  • @1168a amen brother country till i die

  • @1168a Damn right!

  • John, a fiddle, and stage full of Peavey's whippin ass.

  • I think you mean't Telecasters.

  • Peavey amps! and tele's too.

  • That song gives me chills lol. good stuff

  • best country song and im only 18

  • Love John Anderson songs

Video was great brings back so many memories

  • you know i don,t think anyone has a voice like his. his voice is different then anyone elses in the music industry.

  • His voice just gets to you don't it. I know, bad english.

  • this is the best country song .and i am only 30 yrs old

  • hot damn this is a gooden

  • Ol John is overlooked way to much! He is an awesome performer!

  • they oguta take you up yonder honey man john has a southern draw like i do

  • Wild & Blue in Colombia!

  • If I was in Colombia, I'd buy you a cold beer and take you out two-stepping. You sound sooo homesick. I was an expatriate for Conoco in Mexico of all the forsaken places to lose yourself... I can sure identify with you. Take care!

  • Thanks for that Txmusicam! damn i love that fiddle! I've rode many miles down the highway with my old man blaring John Anderson, Jones, Waylon (rip Hoss), Meryle, and hell they got my name from Marty Robbins. thanks again for the cool video. hope y'all have a good day!

  • definately one of the best.. songs and voice..

  • Is this on Hee Haw??? Did it still run in '83?

  • Yeah, this was from Hee Haw - the show ran till 1992.

  • Ok, thanks. Didn't know it really ran that long!

  • @Txmusicam hee haw was a family friendly buy still funny at the same time.

many good guests over the years.

  • That's our fiddle player, Tom Morley on that white fiddle...he was with John for about 5 years during that time.

  • My most favorite John Anderson Song!

  • i love this song since day one!

  • me too.

  • one of the greatest country songs i've ever heard. john anderson's version is great, but i'd give anything to hear lucinda williams sing it again, like she did at the bottom line in nyc one time in the early '90s.

  • Simply the best voice out there today, bar none.

  • John is the best

  • This song is great!!!

  • this song rocks

  • I love this song!

  • I've got this on vinyl, which was handed down from my parents !

  • He may not be Merle, but at least he never did a song that was half as bad as "Let's chase each other around the room tonight"

  • luvs it. thanks for video.

  • John Anderson has stayed true to country all his life....a unique singer of such immense talent deserves more recognition and respect.

  • All you Hee Haw lovers can see reruns on Directv on channel 379(RFD)Monday and Fridays

  • Does anybody have him singing the song long

    black veil?

  • John's songs are still great..I was 12yrs old when this song came out.

  • me too. i have loved it ever since.

  • this song is effin awesome!!

  • John Anderson, a legend of sorts. Thanks for sharing emmtampa and thanks for posting this 5 star video.

  • This is a totally amazing song...John is great!!!

  • One of his BEST songs!

  • This song is a prime example of so many things which make country music great. The fiddle and steel are great. The lyrics and John's voice bring the heartbreak of country blues to life. John owns this song, don't get me wrong, but I would have loved to hear Hank Sr. sing it, but then I love to hear Hank Sr. sing anything.

  • awesome! from hee-haw!

  • Great song. Does the fiddle player remind anybody else of Will Ferrell from the "more cowbell" sketch on SNL?

  • i've got the fever. And the perscription is more cowbell.

  • Is there anything better than this???

  • Ha! This is great. That fiddle player is jivin'. I really dig the harmony too, reminds me of church. John Anderson is great. My grandpa used to sing "Swingin'" to me when I was little.

  • Thanks for this. I have about everything he recorded but have never seen him live. Anybody have a copy of his video "Countrified" they could put up?

  • i love, love, love this song. since i was 12 and i am 36. thanks so much for putting it.

  • love this song and i love john anderson

  • This is country music folks, how its meant to be. BTW, does anyone have a song he did called "Flame in my heart" w/Delia Bell?

  • This is country music at it's best.

What happened to country music these days.

  • i am gonna sound sad, but i miss hee haw. it was the only place you got to see country music on when i was little. this has been one of my favorite songs for years.

  • THE BEST JOHN ANDERSON SONG GOOD POST

  • this is the BEST John Anderson song ever!!!

  • THANK YOU for posting this! My favorite of John Anderson. =)

  • Thanks a TON for posting this video. I had it on my TiVo for the longest time. It was the first time I'd heard Wild and Blue and it became my favorite John Anderson song at that point. I lost everything I had saved on my TiVo hard drive so I'm really stoked that this was uploaded.
