Although I can see some merit to filming him while he is having the seizure for educational purposes I just think it was inappropriate to upload this on YouTube; just share it with the doctor. I found it on Facebook. He does not need this.
@devin8086 Thirsty? Are you serious? Giving him a drink could possibly choke him when he is in the middle of a seizure. Dont you people on here no anything?
Your doctor is talking crap. There were points where he looks extremely frightened and in need of some emotional and physical reassurance instead of being asked when his birthday is, asking questions like that until his fully out of his seizure isn't good. Between 2:00 and 3:46 he appears to be aware of his surroundings so it wouldn't have hurt being gently tactile, maybe call him a pet name, something which resembles empathy which will make him feel less scared and confused.
@DDDoppleganger1 Noway. You can google what you're soppose to do and you will not find any expert telling people to do what you said. So clearly you dont know what you're talking about. The mother obviously has read up on this stuff because her son goes threw it so i think she knows a bit more then you. Please educate yourself before you speak or type.
You are a mother, and you are not worried? Well, I do believe this is real. You must have been through alot of these with your child! By the way, i'm 11.
Wow, this is so sad, I have the same type of seizures.. they used to be crippling I couldnt talk for a whole day. i hope this poor boy is doing ok. What are these types of seizures called? I never really got the proper diagnosis
I was not to stimulate him emotionally as a mother or touch him. I was to ask him simple questions to see his response. It was for his Dr. It is for education. Not for sympathy or to show what an awesome mother I am. You are not suppose to overly stimulate a person having a seizure. It causes further brain irritation. I did what I was told. After the video and seizure... we took proper care of him. *sigh*
@wemmiespages You are an amazing Mother!! Don't "listen" to YouTube haters. I am very impressed with your coping abilities and doing what must be done to ensure your son's proper treatment. Stay Strong, Girl!
@wemmiespages Please ignore the ignorant comments they're everywhere on these types of videos. Wannabe experts who don't no anything. I'm the furthest from experts and even i kno you aren't soppose to touch or move them and stay calm. I hope he gets better i couldn't even finish watching its that disturbing so i can only imagine the pain you go threw! My prayers are with you all!
The way you ask 'What's the matter?' and 'Did you pee in your pants?' did not sound very compassionate to me. You could learn to be gentler, more empathetic.
All the best to your Son, he just needs reassurance that everything is ok and a big cuddle, have you tried talking with the neurologist about the ketogenic diet.? Meryl streep did a film about epilepsy and the diet worth a look.
@1beverleys wow what a brave little guy, I wish you would have been allowed to caress him in some way, but you were only doing as the doctors informed you to do. all the best with his treatments
everyone needs to stop posting rude remarks and just send their prayers for this family, its posted on yout ube for a reason so ppl experienceing the same thing can have a better understand or knwo they are not alone, thank you fo rsharing ..i hope you r son get sbetter soon, much love and respect and prayers are being sent to you and your son +family
Have you ever tried a good parasite cleanse, after a few years of different medication, tests and research to deal with my siezures I was told to try a parasite cleanse as parasites in the body often go undetected and can cause seizures, doing a cleanse finally stopped them for me.apparently this is the cause of many peoples seizures but this is not yet known by most doctors. Please try this if you or someone u love is a sufferer(it changed my life). Verm X 4U was the one that worked best for me
poor kid, I hope he feels better:( my son had his first grand mal this morning and it was real scary, we spent most of the morning in the ER, all seizures should be taken seriously and you did the right thing by taping this to show to his Dr. Toby is in my prayers,
@kittypride2 Is it fake, in that it is not a real brain reaction. It is an emotional reaction. But he does have both real brain seizures and pseudo.. emotional seizures.
@cymphanicqua Rude! We asked him to see if he was responsive and how aware he was. His Dr asked for it. You should work on your judgement and assuming.
The way his saliva bubbled was typical of a real seizure. Pseudo seizures do exsist. Whether or not it is it still needs to be checked out. He may have real ones, then also fake a few b/c of the attention that he gets. I have epilepsy and it's not fun. There are many different types of seizures. It's up to the doctor to determine what kind it is. Good luck to the mom for dealing with whatever came of this. Thoughts and prayers. Also for the kid. :)
@sklawshe He does have both. We have discovered that is has Absence Epileptic seizures and he also has Conversion Disorder and had Pseudo-seizures. His is on Lamictal for the real deal and he is on Lexapro for CD. We don't see anything like this anymore. Thanks for the prayers. He needs them. We hope he is able to drive in a few years.
@penniesfromheavon You are partially correct. He did need a Therapist but he also needed a Neuro. He is almost seizure free now. He has both pseudo and real seizures.
@pinkyt I agree he is way responsive... I have a seizure disorder... I don't remember anything that goes on during them.. let alone comunicate during them..
My daughter has epilepsy he is way to responsive and his movements don't indicate seizure activity nor do his eyes they stay focused throughout.I'm not sure what this is but it's not epilepsy
@01yt1322@01yt1322 He can't swallow for 30 minutes after. I wish I could. He was semi-aware.... The Dr asked me to question him to see what he could say or recall.
@Frozenflame3000 The emotional reaction to a traumatic event. His brain mimics epilepsy as a cry for help. He has actual epilepsy but he also has CD. He is now treated and doing very well.
that looked horrible i couldent stand having kids with that much of a bad seizure i wish u the best of luck (oh and tell him he has cool pj's for me lol)
@esheppar100 my old roommate had seizures while conscious, but she wasn't very responsive, she was just awake. (she remembered what i did between the seizure starting and the ambulance coming, when no one was there, so she was definitely awake)
I can really sympathize with Toby. I too have a seizure disorder. I have had gran mal seizures I stay heavily medicated. Occasionally, I will have what they call a breakthrough seizure often resembles the one Toby had. It is very painful, frustrating and embarrassing because unlike a lot of seizures you are semi conscious. You can't control your breathing, can't speak and wish people would stop asking you questions for fear that any extra thinking could prolong the episode.
