  • I keep missing the good parts because some assholes keep clapping when things start to get great. Anyways this was a great video.

  • I recently saw the "touchscreen" poem wich sparked my curiosity about soulfull jones, so i started searching on youtube for more art from this man and, DAMN..... This piece right here touched me in such a way that i actually had a tear down my cheek...... Thank you for this man, you have truly inspired me and made me realized what i already have known which is there is nothing in this world like my MOTHER I LOVE HER......... Thank you

  • HOW ARE THERE 3 DISLIKES???

  • you are the best man, really.

  • AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGGGG

  • This is just so amazing. Absolutely amazing.

  • REPRESENT!!!!!!

  • man this is one of the best poems ever dedicated to a single mother... love it bro! keep up the good work!

  • Man this was awesome! simply amazing! As a poet myself your words mean so much! the depth of your delivery comes from a real place! brilliant

  • I got goosebumbs... flawless delievery, so raw. I have just goone through my GCSE's, and in english for literature we have to study poems... Would be amazing to study your pieces...they are just genius!!!

  • im in love

  • You know...this one of my favorites.

  • :') that was B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!

  • I watched touch-screen by you first which led me to this, genius.

  • Most annoying audience ever. They start clapping as soon as it speeds up so I can't hear him.

  • Wow I met him today he is DOPE!

  • I found your video on wimp.com about the iPerson, and it was amazing. Now i found this and its even better. I can't relate to it, but it still gets to me. Best poet of all. Subscribe immediately.

  • Wow that was deep.

  • Sad, sad, sad. I hope he learned from his father's mistakes. And his mother's.

Prior to The Great Society programs of the 60s, the overwhelming majority of black families were intact families with a father and a mother and children born on wedlock. Illegitimacy is the strongest predictor of poverty, delinquency and drug abuse. Boys NEED fathers. A woman can raise a boy. She cannot make a Man.

  • he is ok... i cant even type that without laughing at my own lies. i really hope he makes his way down to San Diego and spit at elevated. soulful and Rudy Francisco in one night. i think i would blackout due to so much awesome.

  • thank you!

  • ok, i totally didn't see that coming! beautiful piece...

  • this is so powerful.

  • Thank you for all the love and support. It means more than you know.

  • @Dinguscong...I am the uploader. This is my channel. I made the comment about the stolen poem. I can understand the confusion. Cheers!

  • and no one is going to acknowledge that this is plagiarized

  • Your words move me. Brilliant...and Thank you!

  • This resonates with me. I would have done the same thing.

  • Why does this not have more views? He is really good!

  • @iammarshalljones is there anywhere I can get the "lyrics" or the text version of the poetry?

  • My son, who is in college, sent me the link to this on facebook without telling me what it was. I was so moved! What a great piece. Thank you Marshall Soulful Jones for the thought behind putting it together and you powerful delivery. Be Blessed!

  • Love the passion but I have mixed feelings about the message. Especially when he says deadbeat is spelled father. So you can't have deadbeat mothers aswell? So every father is a deadbeat. I'm sure that's not what he's saying but the poem gives that message to me.

  • @randwan No, I think this is the speaker's experience with it. And legitimately, I think the number of single mothers outweigh single fathers considerably. But I don't think he was saying there is only good mothers and deadbeat fathers.

  • Beautiful

  • i love this poem , it brought tears to my eyes.

  • That was beautifully spoken

  • NO dislikes...and i aint even surprised.

  • i saw this video a couple months ago and it was so moving and impacted me because of my relationship with my father. i came back to watch it today, being father's day, and it is just such an amazing performance. this situation is so true with so many of my friends and other kids. I love that this man performed this, speaking for so many who don't have a voice, or are scared to say something.

  • love it !! my tears build up more each time i watch this (like my 5th time btw ahaha)...ya im an emotional person hahahaha...keep doing ur thing !! <3 <3

  • amazing performance! i would love to perform this as a monlogue! please, im in need of one and all credit will go to the user. thanks alot (:

  • can i get thaa words to this ?

    if not that's okay

  • love this freaking poem the reality of it impacts you when you hear keep doing what your doing genius

  • where could i find the actual words that he is saying?

  • oh my...

It speaks so strongly, I love it, I would give anything to have this man perform for our school.

  • i love this poem it reflects my life so much even though my deadbeat was givin so many chances to be in my life and still refused but each and every day i thank god for my father(mother) she is all i got and i love her

  • this shit is to sick

  • marshall, i cant stop listening to this.. even though ive had the luxery of having both my parents married and by my side my whole life, your poetry still touches my heart and ur words literally send chills down my back. You are an AMAZING poet and i hope to have half of the talent that you have in the future.

  • I saw this poem right before I competed in my first poetry slam and to say the least my poem was about how music influenced who I am, and this gave me inspiration. Nonetheless after watching this, I went on to win $600 and a laptop. This is wonderful and inspiring. Beautiful.

  • im speechless..

  • I LOVE THIAS POEM CAUSE ITS LIKE MY LIFE NO DADDY

  • his words are beautiful .. truly *

  • that was deep

  • This is divine.

  • very powerful and emotional.

    love my mother.

  • this one inspired me to do my poem

  • This poem gave me goose bumps. Amazing is the only word for it.

  • This is the best vid EVER!!!

  • i never cried on a "poem" until now

  • i wrote a poem similar to this... i'll be uploading it later on my page... i love your format! hopefully one day i'll go on stage

  • man i love this yo tight homie

  • i showed my mom this poem on mothers day and she cried

  • we watch your poems in my English class and you are an inspiration to us all, thank you

  • (uploader) I got Facebook messages the night MY poem was recited word for word and the host(who is familiar with MY work) did not call him out on stage as to not embarrass him... but spoke with him afterward about it and he claimed original authorship...now concepts are one thing but reciting a poem word for word...wow

  • @iammarshalljones i have to video on my youtube page he performed everything up to "the parameters of being right" then the rest was his...

I did inform the poet of his mistake and we talked about what he did and how to go about it the next time...

  • @iammarshalljones a kid in my school tried to do the same thing... going classroom to classroom and reciting these poems, claiming them as his own. I called him out on it because I knew I had heard those words before. and it wasn't just yours, it was a lot of them that could be simply found on youtube. it was despicable. anyway, this was beautiful and keep doing what you are doing! I love it. :)

  • yo I heard another poet from Indianapolis give this poem before. Is this an original or he is reciting someone elses stuff?

  • What? He spoke too fast and with the echo I couldn't understand him. Don't shout and I might understand.

  • Your poem inspired me to write and now i would like to recite with the passion that you showed in this!

  • AMAZING

  • wow! :)

  • Wow. Chills and tears. 5/5 and favorited. Thank u

  • i love this poem

  • Mr Jones, that was deep brutha...the 1st time i heard this, i got chills...from 1 poet to another, keep doin ya thang
