Evans no longer makes the RGS+EQ pad with the plastic adjustment...They do still make the EQ pad but not with the plastic brace that secured the pad against the head.
They also no longer make the foam muffle ring for the 5" port hole, it's been replaced by an adhesive rubber ring that can't be removed.
I use a drum dial when I tune all my drum heads...It's accurate fast and percise.
great technique and very helpful..i was just wondering which head would you recommend for an 18x16 bass drum , in order to get the best possible punch with low mid, and mid range sustain..i'm kinda torn between the powersonic and the evans emad..both clear , ofcourse..i know it's a matter of taste for the individual, but i'd like your opinion.!
@mangie222 Yes, it is. It's built with an internal overtone control ring and an EQ muffle ring. I'm supposed to be getting mine today, but UPS is taking forever.. ugh.
any good drummer could please awser my question which i posted as a video?( about bassdrum and triggers. just go to my profile to view it thanks its really appreciated!
Some good points, but this is just an advertisement for their "inventions" (Minus the heads, obviously, they actually are good) which can be substituted easily by sheets/blankets.
My 2c worth ...I have a 20" birch kick, PS3 batter and ported Aquarian reso. My findings with the Evans pad "for me" worked best with it facing East West across the drum with one corner of the pad just touching the reso head to get a nice heartbeat.
he is killing the drum by puting all this dampening rings and pillow material in it but yet then he is listening for resonance. no wonder the doobies are has beens.
if he had a good MAPLE shelled bass drum he could just tune a thick head to its lowest tune without it sounding like paper and it will rock with no dampening. Drummers put dampening in thier drums because they see others do or they have luan, basswood, or other cheap wood shells.
not true at all i dampen my drums because i like a clean sound with absolutely NO over tones, my old snare drum was a 400 buck ALL MAPLE snare with no dampening that sounded like shit and now i have a smaller steel snare that was 170 bucks and it sounds much better with dampening, its cheaper and more effective.

those dang rings suck. they both ripped on me. the head cuts into the cut even deeper so eventually the ring splits :(

I bought one of those emad heads with the foam ring and the frikken glue went and the ring peeled off. Wasn't cheap either !!
