like steve says getting drummers together to talk about the groove. he is one of the few drummers that offer staying in that pocket strong and thats why so many artist use him, so my friend Neil Larsen says and i,v been playing that way since the sixties. check out beedosticks on you tube. then try beedojohn. steve you da man. i think we have to gig together
This KING OF ALL DRUMMERS EVER!!!!! is responsible for making boring ass songs by Eric Clapton sound interesting!!!!! If it ainta haddena been fer STEVe GADD, That CRAP woulda never been on the radio!!!!!!!!
I couldn't agree more with that notion that SG expressed at the end. I teach chemistry for a living and I play drums for fun. The more I teach, the more I learn, and the more fun I have. It really doesn't matter what the subject matter is; that basic idea transcends everything. And he (or she) who dies having had the most fun wins. I do love the sense of responsiblility that the master feels for his "students". I love the drummer; I just learned to like the person!

Steve "god" Gadd. What can you say? ?The man is a work of art. A piece of werk. Wow. What a guy...Gotta luv him. From Buddy Rich to Max Roach to him and others..
The greatest thing about Steve that kills me is the man has no ego ,he just buried it for the sake of the groove.Great example for all musicians everywhere.Thankyou Steve.
@MrFreeman420 woahhh, i live in rochester, NY as well, are you sayin thats where he is now/ do you know if he is playing at the jazz fest with a seperate group?
@donutsnsuch not sure if he still lives there but my drum teacher told me a lot about him, mostly how burnt out he is, he said he would sometimes perform in clubs or something
@spyski Actually what he said was that steve sometimes forgot where he was or what he was doing but once he got behind the drumset every clicked, and he can still groove. If you knew anything about gadd you would have known he used to be a cocaine addict.
@MrFreeman420 and how many 'artists' in from the 70's didn't end up using something... You failed to mention in your comoment that once he was behind the set he was good, ya just said he was burnt out. Not trying to get in a pissing match over it! I know plenty about Gadd not saying I'm the authority on Steve Gadd but I know enuff to say he's 1 of the best drummers out there
@MrFreeman420 Does it honestly really matter now? He's clean. He did more recording sessions and touring in the 70's and 80's than I could ever dream of. Playing day and night, one sesh to the next to a tour....etc. It's no wonder that he turned to coke to keep that schedule up.
@MrFreeman420 yes he is a rochester native...anyway us drummers need to be cool with each other, we're a brotherhood, we're not like guitar players! So keep jamming study the greats as wells as some of the very hot new drummers out there. So peace my drumming brother!!!
Hey Steve Gadd Fans! How great is he? Back in 1975 I was working at Bankers Trust in NYC and he was a customer. He gave me the album he was working on with Chuck Mangione and tickets to his show at the Bottom Line in lower NYC. I realized how great he was when he played drums on Aja for Steely Dan. Hey Steve!! Great to see you again!!! Priscilla
