  • was that pretty much just all dimmu borgir you where playing too ??

  • , im planing to get a direct drive pedal but im between demondrives or the derek roddy signature double pedal, i heard axis had some kind of lag in the slave pedal and driveshaft so i hope u could help me get that clear, im really digging the axis but tha'ts kinda the only thing stopping me. if anyone can help me please reply

  • @danieljordison0793 well I dont know if they changed the drive shaft by now but when I played Axis, the drive shaft started to lag after a while and it was expansive as hell to get it fixed... Soon after the repair of the first joint I noticed that the second one also started to lag. I changed to Pearl Eliminators and some months ago I got the Demon Drives and I am very satisfied with them and the drive shaft has still zero latency. So I would recommand the Demon Drives.

  • @MorganvanHelsing thanks a lot dude! you are not the only one that has told me that so i think ill go with the DD thanks a lot

  • How do you tune your bassdrums? That sounds very good! I'd like to tune my bassdrums the same way. Thanks!

  • 1:15 - 1:30 was that the drum solo of Day 69?

  • One foot blasts, leg & ankle motion, ankle motion, perfect balance & coordination... what is it with you and all the axis drummers :D? You're damn good dude, i really mean it, like your style...

  • your skills are unchallengeable so let me say that I liked those shoes, where can I get one?

  • Hey, I've got a question I've never tried Axis Pedals before and i was wondering is there a difference from and ordinary pedal or double bass pedal. I was also wondering if the pedals help go speed up with your feet to help you go well as fast as you have gone in this video. If you could respond , please do I'm looking to save up for some Axis pedals and i wanna know if they're worth it. : )

  • @metalmonkey97 Ya, they are totally worth it...if you have patience to practice. Its not like they are some magical secret to speed or anything. They are just the right tool for the job for me....I practiced for 10 years, 6 hours everyday. Thats the real secret.

  • @DRUMMERDAVEKINKADE Thank you for responding Im a huge fan of your band, and thank you for clearing that up for me I play in a band ( extreme thrash metal ) and I broke my double bass pedal from playing the chosen legacy on the fast part and im stuck with a yamaha pedal for now and I plan to buy axis in the future and I dont practice alot but when i can i do thanks for answering me .

  • @metalmonkey97 pearl demon drives are worth looking at. if you worried about them not being fast enough, just remember that john longstreth from origin uses them and he is probably the fastest drummer in death metal. most origin songs are above 240bpm. the pedals are really well made and will last longer than axis pedals. trick big foots are also worth checking out, they are the most expensive though.

  • @thispagesux its all preference. i dont like demon drives very much, they didnt have enough power for me. axis pedals are ridiculously powerful, i dont use triggers and live you can hear 260 bpm very well.

  • @metalmonkey97 when i bought them i had the idea they were magical, got them, then i realized i wasnt good enough to use them to there full potential. Practice is key to becoming this good with them, took me 9 months of using them(after i had my iron cobras) to be able to use them at 260 bpm. the price is worth it though when you finally can use them right.

  • @metalmonkey97 its all personal preferance axis are good tama are good iron cobras are good trick pedals are good....long boards standard boards

  • @metalmonkey97 but there is a big difference in feel and getting used to when u switch from chain to direct drive

  • @metalmonkey97 Axis are fuckin awesome...i'm using them like 4 months after eliminator...

and the difference is good...axis are definitly fuckin perfect.

Just need to patience to practice...theyr a bit different than normal pedal...spring is fuckin hard and also direct drive makes difference.

  • borknagar is badass thanks for putting ur drum skillz online itll help me out alot

  • like a machinegun

  • do you need some warm ups or can you play everything of the shown easily?

  • @Morrowind100 This kinda is warm up...its not like I was playing anything in particular...just messing around

  • It's an awesome video, it gives me whole other look on the way i have to use my feet to get good tight clean double kicks at high speed. how did you exactly developed your foot tecnique? any specific exercises?

Anyways great respects for you dude

    Greetsz

  • AWESOME BASS DRUM TECHIKS!!!

BTW YOU GOY SOME GREAT SPEED DUDE!!

  • dude plz tell what band you are in?!

  • @DiabolusEnGuitar I play for Borknagar....it says so on my main page.

  • @DRUMMERDAVEKINKADE Does that meen you know ICS Vortex? dumb question but hes my idol

  • @AwsomeDMan Well, Im in a band with him sooo

  • this is kinda one of those moments when you love someone for what they can do... but hate them because you want to be able to do it... :/

  • at 2:11, are you using your thigh muscles? or just calf and foot muscles?

  • i wish i could do that lolza

  • badass vid, what's the tat?

  • 3:12 i like it!

  • people say joey jordison is fast....

  • @Hatecrewdude and he is lol

  • @11JimMorrison sorry hes not

  • @DRAG0NSIN7 just because there's people faster that means he's not fast? wtf. All Hope Is Gone, People=Shit. Not the fastest songs in the world, but they are very fast on the drums.

  • @11JimMorrison oh shit my bad i thought you said he was faster than this guy... XD ya joey is fast in a sense

  • Are you wearing boots to add weight for better speed with normal shoes?

  • @flameheadct No, sometimes I wear boots and sometimes I just wear regular shoes. It really doesnt matter.

  • Clear heads FTW

  • Orgasm at 1:40

  • i would kill for these pedals!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @doublebassrox hehe im getting them :p

  • @mightmightyboosh i. hate. you. rich. bastard. :p

  • @doublebassrox Im not rich...just endorsed

  • @DRUMMERDAVEKINKADE i coulda sworn the comment was directed towards you. but okay thats sick. I hope to get endorsed by axis . just dont know how

  • @doublebassrox If youre in a band that tours alot, apply and see what happens. They were my 1st endorser back in 2002.

  • Very, very impressive, Sir. You make it look effortless.

  • amazing !

  • Wow that was like george kollias status

  • Cool vid! I cant get those speeds without swivel on my right foot (im left). You seem to swivel somewhat, but not as much as I do. I was wondering if you used to swifel more and gradually decreased it, and if that is the way to go.

  • @Supertax2 No, I used to have a bit of a right swivel...now I corrected that. Swivel is actually not good for your technique....its just something that happens....try to correct it because it'll fuck your ankles up over a period of time.

  • @DRUMMERDAVEKINKADE Thanks for the advice:), ill try to cut down on my swivel then. Hate to be washed up @ 40.

  • Are you using just ankles? Because I use my ankles to play fast, and our methods look similar.

  • 0:59 EPIC!

  • Wow, incredible accuracy! No heel-toe or swivel, just straight speed! You're quite the magician!

  • look at the face at the right bass drum above the beater

  • I wish I was you, have those skills and that kit! Hahaha that kit is a dream man.

  • Hey Dave K., I have a few simple questions. can you play that technique on short boards, whats your spring tension roughly, and with that tension are you able to play cleanly 150-170 / do you have problems or used to have problems with the full leg motion sometimes? thanks in advance man, your video is really good, its about the speed i strive for!!

  • Hey- I actually prefer short boards but Ive been too lazy to change them back and Ive gotten quite comfortable with the longboards. I dont use full leg motion for anything other than slow stuff and Im talking slow. Ive actually gotten the ankle motion to work for me quite well on slow stuff too. Its aall about relaxing and control. I have the springs cranked as tight as they go. Look for my video about pedals and ekits in my archives and I explain all

  • Single blasts are fucking insane, up there with GK man!

  • man ur insane

  • Cool playing Dave nice clean and relaxed

    Tim

  • Thanks Tim. Ive always admired your smooth heel-toe.

  • I can't do it with clunky shoes. Normally I use shaolin shoes or puma shoe. 5 stars my fren.

  • its the shoes

  • Smooth as shit off a duck's ass!

    Went to my favorites.

  • You'r very good!

  • your shoes rock

  • just a question, the marksman beater... does it feel mush different compared to a iron cobra beater for example? was just wondering since you seem to have the springtension cranked all the way and you VDL as far back as it goes does a heavier beater help geting a better flow when playing fast doubles? Really nice videos btw... keep em coming!

  • dave what are u talking about speed comp.? you are speed competition... u got almost every drummer trying to play at your speed and technique

  • Because I get alot of shit from people saying that I only post videos to "show off".......because I live my life trying to do so hahaha....ya right

  • haha i think they are only a little jealous

  • AXISSS

  • Thanks, Dave, this was very helpful. What exersices do you recommend if I wanna reach speeds of 250+?

  • just alot of practice.......I never really sat there and practiced 1 thing. Then again, when I learned this shit, I didnt have youtube to teach me how

  • haha u basically made youtube extreme drumming what it is now

  • damn dave, that must take a lot of strength and obviously endurance to be able to play your tension settings and play this fast, I find this really difficult for myself weighing 145 pounds to get power at high speeds

  • its all just endurance.......I just didnt sit down and start playing this kinda stuff on day one. Im 26 but Ive been playing for 23 years.........longtime ya know. This isnt even a good video. I just kinda threw it together

  • nice. :) this vids put me in the mood to drum

  • awesome technique!!!!!

  • That looks and sounds sick! I do heal and toe with no shoe and it works, but ma foot gets tired. I will try your technique and see if it works.

  • this will take a few years to get close too... just giving it a try will not do much for you unless you practice like a motherfucker

  • ohh I know that. That is why, I said I will try it and see if I get the hang of it. I also know that, Practice makes Champs not Chumps!

  • Ohh I know that. That is why, I said was going to try it first and see if it works for me. You are right about practicing. Practice makes Champs not Chumps!

  • ????????

  • what heads do you use on all your drums.

  • these bass drum heads look like Remo powersonics

  • powersonics on kicks....clear embass. on toms, cs on snare

  • Nice. That's actually a lot like George Kollias' foot technique, and my own... Man, I gotta upload some videos.

  • how good are blasts just using your left foot ?
