The fragility we see in Udo's Dracula makes him one of the sexiest vampires I've ever seen. The film has lots of humour, but it is undoubtedly a horror classic. The whole gothic atmosphere is there.

i guess it depends on what you consider a masterpiece. Generally speaking, it's pretty much one of those "so bad it's good" movies, but for a Udo Kier fan it's a must-see.

@Feyrhawk You sure are! This is a classic Kier flick. The performance from the other actors are quite pale, but Udo does a good job, as always. Some really powerful scenes in this one. Also, this vampireflick is the one where the thematic of "the stranger" (the vampire as a foreigner) is most obvious.

In diesem Film ist Dracula ( der hat hier den alten Namen gar nicht verdient) ein schmächtiger öliger kränklicher Vegetarier, ißt Salat, läuft bei Tageslicht herum, sitzt vor Schwäche sogar im Rollstuhl, lutscht ein blutgetränkter Laib Brot aus, daß sein Diener vorher in das Blut eines Unfallopfers getunkt hat...ein erbärmlicher Anblick! Leckt Deflorationsblut vom Fußboden auf...kotzt in eine Badewanne bereits genossenes "nicht jungfräuliches Blut".
